the biggest plot hole in btvs is how buffy and spike managed to have sex fully clothed and standing up so often while they're both wearing leather pants. ive been running the calculations on that scenario for years and i really don't think it's possible.

which is also so crazy because angelus has crazy social skills. he uses them for evil but he is so perceptive and, honestly, charming. where does this skill go angel?! does he just forget? truly mindboggling.
I hated Angel’s character in the Buffy Series because he was always so wooden but when it got revealed in his show that he just has zero social skills and underneath was just a massive dork I slowly came round to the idea of liking him
#angel is just doing the gen z stare at the angel investigatons front desk#also and this is true angel never had chemistry with any woman ever#i say woman specifically because obviously spike#but thats also just spike with everyone#and the inherent sexual tension of being enemies of course

i think this is also super interesting to consider because when we see spike as human he was a very sensitive guy, a lover boy you might say. and i always took this as the reason for spike having a little more human left in him than lets say angelus who back when he was still liam was really not a good guy.
but harmony seems to be the exception to this rule. she was not really a good person before she died. i mean of course we weren’t shown much about her but we know she was bullying people and turned on her friends very easily (this also remains part of her character after she turned which is a little besides the point). but still as a vampire she shows much more human feelings and restraint than other vampires. in her friendship with cordelia and also in her relationship with spike. she genuinely loved him and he treated her like shit and she felt sad about that. we don’t really see that kind of emotion from any other vampires besides harmony and spike
okay i know it's probably because she's a relatively minor character who only really exists for comic relief. however. i think it's odd that spike is the one who gets paraded around by the fandom as The Exception to general vampire behavior when harmony kendall is literally right there.
does she eat people? yeah. but she very obviously doesn't do it out of any kind of malice. a girl's gotta eat, y'know? but unlike literally every vampire we know of, when she returns to someone she knew as a human (cordelia), it's legitimately just to hang out with her. and yes, she has a LITTLE trouble with her bloodlust, but she keeps it mostly under control all on her own. even spike returned to his own mother to kill her (with good intentions, but still). harmony just wanted to hang out and find a place she could fit.
is she a bad person? yeah, but only kinda. she's quick to double-cross and, again, eats people. she's disloyal and vain and selfish. but the fascinating thing about her is that none of those traits (except for the eating people) came from her becoming a vampire. she was all those things even as a human, and simply retained them into vampirism. but they also didn't really get any worse. functionally, she's the exact same person she was before being turned, which is nuts because no other vampire had that experience. would she have killed people as readily as a person? probably not, but the fact that her behavior and personality haven't changed at all... i feel like that's super fucking significant. right???
which isn't to say that spike isn't also an outlier to a certain extent, or that his more aggressive traits didn't exist in some form when he was human, but his change was big. noticeable. yeah, he's one of the more human vampires in the buffyverse. his ability and willingness to change and grow for the better shouldn't be dismissed. but he also only really changed because of external forces (the chip, buffy's belief in him, the soul). without them, he just wouldn't have changed the way he did. he was better than a lot of other vampires, but he was still a vampire.
where spike chose not to eat people after the chip and to win buffy's affections (something only really perceived as possible by anyone due to the chip), harmony chooses not to eat people without anything forcing her into that position. be it money, attention, acclaim, etc, she's perfectly willing to not be evil if it just means getting those things. no chip needed, no soul needed. someone says don't eat people, she doesn't eat people! mostly. she's not perfect, and she's still not a good person, but yeah.

Buffy in s7: if I had a nickel for every time one of my vampire boyfriends got his soul back after committing terrible acts of violence that hurt me/my loved ones, and then was acting delirious and crazy for awhile and I helped them heal, and then stood by them while they tried to atone for the wrong they've done and become a better man, but all my friends thought I was crazy and were being unsupportive... I'd have two nickels. Which is not a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

really perplexing btvs fandom thing to me is when ppl are mad that willow & the gang resurrected buffy bc she had finally found peace in death. bc yeah s6 shows us so much of how buffy suffers as a result of having been brought back. but like. if my 21 year old best friend sacrificed her life for me and then three months later i found a way to bring her back to life i would do it. no hesitation. of course i would do it.

buffy the vampire slayer had a pretty okay musical episode and every TV show for the past 25 years has thought it could get away with having a musical episode because of it. You are not buffy the vampire slayer

sorry but literally the first thing angel ever said to spike was "finally, a man! you have no idea how boring it is only sleeping with women. we can have some fun together" then took him on a date (wedding slaughter) but spike was so head over heels for drusilla that he did not pick up on any of angel's signals and was just like "well i had a really good time watching you murder people, it was really funny, and—no thank you, i'm not hungry—but anyway, i wanna go hang out with dru." and that hurt angel's feelings so he had spiteful sex with dru to hurt spike's feelings back. and neither of them ever got over it

betraying someone who trusts them deeply is one of the sexiest things a character can do its unparalleled. cause either the relationship is irrevocably changed and said character is completely at fault (guilt complex, hot) or it isnt and then both sides have to deal with the fact that they care about each other enough to overlook the betrayal (unceasing devotion, also hot)
