My dear lgbt+ kids,

Having a crush on someone who is "unreachable" is fine.

This includes: a straight person having a crush on a gay person, a gay person having a crush on a straight person, someone having a crush on an aromantic person (who doesn't want to date at all), someone having a crush on a person who is already in a relationship, a teenager having a crush on their teacher, someone having a crush on a celebrity who doesn't even know they exist, someone still having a crush on someone who already rejected them...

If we automatically label these situations as wrong, we skip quite a lot of steps in our heads. Of course, it would be wrong to actively pursue someone who is clearly not interested in you. That's harassment! It's important to take "No" as an answer - as well as to know that some circumstances are an automatic No. This applies for example to the "They are already taken" or "They are an adult and you are not" situation.

But: having a crush  ≠ actually pursuing a relationship with them! Feelings do not equal actions.

Simply having feelings for someone who is clearly not interested - there's nothing morally wrong about that. In fact, I believe that it's actually a very healthy thing to experience, especially for a young person. It can be painful to feel so much and know that it can never lead anywhere. But this knowledge also makes it a pretty safe place: you can explore your romantic feelings, fantasies, and desires without yet having to involve another person. An unrequited crush may hurt sometimes but it also teaches you a lot about yourself!

Vilifying feelings isn't helpful. Nobody is gross or weird or evil or predatory simply for having an unrequited crush.

Lark and Bower / Sarah Ward - 2020

During lock down, without a loom or studio, she started stitching small woven patterns by hand, using leftover yarn and a lot patience. What began as a way to keep going became a way of working.

Now, even with her full studio back, she still creates these tiny, time-consuming pieces. They're not made to be worn or sold fast, they're made to be seen, to remind us that weaving is an art, not just something for clothes. She uses waste yarn, old stock, and plant fibers to avoid adding more to the pile of fast fashion.

Do I remember lmao it was like 8 months ago 😳.

Eugene was based off these 2022 doodles i never did anything with (inspired by ramlightlys father basil haha)- combined with some actors to make him feel more real.

And cliff was vaaaaguely based off this design- who is a combo of stranger things Steve and Billy haha. I changed him quite a bit tho,. They were just no-name designs til I actually gave them more story and character recently!

Idols. Pretty face, pretty name, pretty hands around their shoulders and throat. There to seduce, manipulate, force any feeling to come to the surface and twist it to their favor. Any genuinity stays locked behind the guilded cage that surrounds their pretty little heart

Trophies. Status and wealth and the traditions that keep someone at their heels, on their knees, to display and serve and decorate one's ballroom.

Sacrifices. Drenched in honorable clothes, prepared and adored and cleansed. The gift of hope at the cost of one's life. Is it taken with no fight? How can you escape the ropes you were born in?

theo van gogh was the one who suggested that his older brother vincent start seriously painting. as soon as theo was gainfully employed he gave vincent around 15% of his own yearly salary for art supplies, lodging, and food. about 2/3rds of vincent's surviving letters were to theo (including vincent's earliest and last letters), all of which were found stored in theo's desk. theo's child, vincent willem, was born on january 31st, 1890, and vincent was so delighted by his nephew that he painted almond blossoms for him. vincent shot himself half a year later on july 29th, 1890. theo's distress at his brother's death worsened his syphilis symptoms and he died half a year after his brother on january 25th, 1891 (four days before vincent willem's first birthday). theo was reburied next to vincent in auvers-sur-oise at the request of theo's wife johanna.
