Question for the dinosaur/prehistoric/triassic/etc. kin.

I am not an otherkin of any kind myself, and honestly? I don’t really understand it. But! I am absolutely fascinated in learning about this community from a social point of view.

My question is in no way meant to be offensive, sarcastic, or in anyway demeaning. I am strictly curious and would like to learn from those of you who feel like sharing, as I have not found an answer to my question in my own searches.

I’m going to use raptor kin as an example, but this question is for anyone!

When new information about raptors is discovered, such as feathering, hand placement, size, etc. do you as a raptor kin change with that new information, or do you remain the same as you were when you first realized you were in kin to them?

Bird #74 - the lilac-breasted roller (LC)

Rather lazy and messy, since otherwise I won't have time to finish the flags in June :C

I didn't think there would be a bird for the trans flag (blue AND pink, two uncommon colours?) but lo and behold! They do also have greens and browns on their back, so not perfect but very close.

Rollers are named for their territorial and courtship displays, where they literally roll in their flight! Another great thing is there's no sexual dimorphism, so females have the bright colours too. Pride for all!

i have approximately worked out how arachnids look in idletry after a lot of thinking about it. i kind of needed to do it because i need more arthropods to fill backgrounds, and i wanted to write a little bit about why spiders look so different from insects when a lot of people see them as basically the same thing: bugs.

to be clear, though, i have had a strong idea of what arachnids should look like in idletry for a long time.

just didn't really know how to deal with that last pair of legs.

i will probably eventually post about bats and pterosaurs, which would also be very easy to stylize similarly, but i wanted to make them very visibly different. another type of animal i really haven't figured out how to work with yet is frogs. i may end up stylizing them in a way similar to kangaroos.
