one  of  nari's  favorite  feelings  in  the  world  was  the  vibration  of  the  loud  booming  music  that  she  could  feel  in  almost  every  part  of  her  body ,  it  gave  her  so  much  energy  and  serotonin  stepping  into  the  club  and  instantly  feeling  it ,  sometimes  it  caused  her  to  get  a  little  carried  away ,  especially  after  a  few  drinks  were  in  her  system  like  today .  she  was  jumping  and  bouncing  around ,  not  paying  any  mind  to  other  people  around  her ,  which  happened  to  be  her  biggest  mistake ,  feeling  herself  crash  into  another  body  completely  throwing  them ,  and  herself ,  to  the  floor .  " oh  my  god  im  so  SORRY,  i  didn't  see  you  there  i  swear "  stretching  an  arm  out  to  offer  the  other  a  hand  up  " are  you  okay  ?  do  you  want  me  to  buy  you  an  apology  drink  ?  "  she  shyly  smiles,  silently  thanking  the  universe  that  nightclubs  are  dark  so  no  one  could  see  how  bright  her  face  was .

"  oh  you  PAID  HER  to  tell  you  that  you're  gonna  die  ?  i  thought  she  just  walked  by  and  said  that  "  letting  out  a  sigh  "  i  thought  this  situation  was  a  little  more  dangerous  but  she  was  just  trying  to  get  your  money,  you're  absolutely  fine  "  displaying  a  comforting  smile  on  her  lips ,  reassuringly  patting  the  other  girls  shoulder,  it's  a  bit  hard  to  discern  a  scam  from  reality  especially  in  this  city  so  she  didn't  judge  anisa  too  harshly  on  the  situation,  approaching  more  with  sympathy  since  it's  happened  to  nari  before  too.  "  oh  of  course ,  if  anything  happens  to  a  single  hair  on  your  little  head  im  jumping  that  grandma "  busting  into  a  laugh,  linking  arms  with  anisa  continuing  down  the  street,  "  me  too  !  it  takes  so  much  stress  away  having  a  friend  here,  i  can't  imagine  not  knowing  anyone.  we  could  go  tonight  if  you're  not  too  busy  !  break  in  the  night  club  as  we  do  best . nari  loved  helping  friends  with  fashion  choices,  it's  something  that  just  made  her  feel  warm,  especially  if  they  just  needed  her  to  work  the  tiniest  bit  of  magic,  "  you  know  i'd  do  anything  to  make  sure  you  look  perfect  ,  even  though  you  don't  need  much  for  that  "  a  delighted  grin  on  her  face.  "im  looking  for  some  inspiration  more  or  less,  maybe  just  a  fun  little  piece  to  transform"  still  scanning  the  racks,  but  nothing  coming  to  mind,  shrugging  it  off  making  a  mental  note  to  come  back  later  .  "  oh  it'll  definetly  cause  some  kind  of  issues  ...  but  hopefully  we  don't  get  dragged  into  them"

sometimes  all  it  takes  is  one  small  word  to  confirm  a  purchase  ,  and  in  the  end  ,  melody  does  end  up  with  the  double  -  breasted  suit  jacket  .  especially  considering  nari's  eye  would  tell  her  for  sure  if  it  was  going  to  be  a  major  train  -  wreck  .  “  if  it  doesn't  fit  ,  help  me  .  please  tailor  it.  ”  she  knows  nothing  about  seams  ,  nor  if  it  can  even  be  tailored  ,  but  if  there's  someone  who  can  work  her  magic  in  this  place  ,  it's  got  to  be  nari  .  “  are  you  looking  for  something  specific  ?  i'm  pretty  sure  you  already  own  everything  under  the  sun  .  ”  face  made  ,  small  grimace  .  “  no  ,  definitely  not  the  worst  thing  ,  but  i'm  sure  someone  will  make  it  a  problem  .  ”

he appreciated that someone understood his plight. it was not the vanity that clouded his judgement but rather, love for his artistic craft. he's lit student films better than this, what kind of budget did berry have?  "maybe it's one of those spots where no one can see what you do, y'know like in those dating shoes where they sneak off to kiss and there's all this drama and someone's sobbing over someone they met three days prior?"  he speaks like such a knowledge of reality dating tv was common. he nods in agreement,  "I'll come back and win you a teddy and a pink pony, but for now let's step outside," he offers.

" though spoken as a fact, the words slipped out more confrontational than intended. it wasn't like they detested nari's presence — how could anyone, really ? not when the designer was, in their eyes, hollywood's sweetheart. in her mind, nari was always snapped on the front page all dimples and teeth, or spoken highly of in deux moi's blind item list. " i wouldn't mind either ... " their voice trailed off, and sheepishly so, embarrassed yet to prideful to apologize for their standoffishness. BACKGROUND

✱ … childhood

august 13 1995

nari was born to hwang manshik & pyeon jiwoo in vancouver, british columbia. manshik & jiwoo being prominent business figures ever since nari can remember, she didn’t see much of them growing up ( or to this day really ) , and due to that she was essentially raised by her older sister, jia. jia was 14 when nari was born, but about 19 when the responsibility of nari fell on her shoulders. nari has always had a close bond to jia, she was her biggest role model, she taught her everything she knows, especially when it comes to fashion. nari had always been all in when it came to dress up, even more so due to the fact her sister let her do it with her clothes, and to this day she has a complete infatuation with the style of the early 2000s, and it comes through strongly in her designs today. some of nari’s most fond memories from her childhood are sitting on the couch cuddled up with her big sister watching project runway and americas next top model, they made sure to cancel every plan they had whenever they were on, it was THEIR bonding time. 

✱ … adolescence

nari started highschool at the peak of myspace, twilight & jersey shore , that era defined her and solidified her love for trashy reality tv, music taste & and the overall dramatics of the early 2010s , other things that are prominent throughout her designs. She loved school, but not for the general studious reasons, she loved skipping class with friends to do whatever teens in 2009 did. she wasn’t fully removed from her studies though , she absolutely adored art & fashion classes , and was the top of her class in both subjects. one day she had an idea that she brought to her fashion teacher , that the class held a school fundraiser in the form of a fashion show , and ever since the last she’s heard, they still hold it yearly.

nari’s mind never shifted about what she was going to go to university for , since she was young she knew she wanted to study fashion design , it was all she could ever picture doing , due to her high grades and recommendation letter from her fashion teacher , nari managed to get into the bachelor of design program at toronto metropolitan university , which is one of the best fashion design programs in the country . it was hard for her to move across the country without her sister , but she knew it was what she needed to do to pursue her dreams.  while in university nari got VERY into partying , she didn't refuse a good party in highschool but those were a lot less frequent , almost every weekend she was surrounded by new faces, dancing , drinking and having the time of her life. her party girl phase is something she never really grew out of, if you cant find her in her studio she's most likely at the club. during her study period she became almost like a teachers pet, showing her passion and creativity she ended up being able to intern for one of her favorite designers ( thanks to one of her favourite professors putting a good word in for her ) after graduating. 

✱ … now

while interning she was still working on her own designs making a small name for herself in the community by posting her own designs online and having them go semi viral, and with that the rest is history. She decided to move to california & started focusing more on her own passion projects, slowly making moves to cultivate her brand and an even bigger name for herself. due to her online popularity she has been hired by countless different celebrities to design outfits for tours, music videos, events, etc. she is living her wildest dreams, getting to work with and in turn party with some of the hottest names , shes come a long way from the little vancouver girl who used to yell “make it work�� at the tv.
