   Ichiko has been rather zoned out as of late. Nothing makes sense in this strange, unfamiliar, sometimes-tropical city --- least of all, the absence of her gifts. By all stretches of the phrase, certain areas Ichiko’s passed through in Spirale imply that the locale should be home to the most calming of vacation spots, and yet... Oh! She looks up, right into the face of a person. And yet... she remarks dryly in her head. This place seems even more bustling than the city I’m from.

   “I-I’m sorry...!” She makes quick work of apologizing, with a lightning-fast bow of her head. “This place is kind of affecting m... Well, that’s no excuse for walking right into someone, I suppose... --- I... uh, I really do apologize. I’ve just been kind of s-spaced-out since I got here. Aside from having a vague sense of where all the wards are located, I... I have no way to make neither heads nor tails of this place,” she admits, eyes cast low and gaze jammed off to the side.

   Ichiko’s not normally one to say much (or have much to say) while someone else is speaking --- especially when they’re speaking so fervently about a topic they seem to be passionate about! So she listens to every word. To others, it would seem like hours, but for Ichiko, even though she can’t accurately read the emotions behind the words at the moment, she for the most part has a keen interest in hearing every single word he has to say --- his individual outlook, his obvious mental store of book knowledge... things like that. And you’d best believe, when he is done, she’s offering an calm and thoughtful series of nods.

   “Yes, that is very interesting, Galekh-kun. I’ve never thought of it that way before...” She quickly corrects herself, so as not to be misunderstood, “That is, I mean to say that you truly have a very unique outlook! Do you think that we may be able to correspond further via text over the differences between Terran and Alternian biology, and the impact of such differences upon the norms typically accepted by the members of each respective society on the whole?”

   Oh, this situation was not being kind to her at all.

   HIGHLY UNFAMILIAR SURROUNDINGS? Check. CREEPY, OVERTLY SUSPICIOUS BLACK HOLE-LOOKING PIT in what she imagined to be the center of everything? Resounding check. THE ROWDIEST OF CARSICKNESS from the speed of the vehicle that had picked her up from around the area of the aforementioned PIT? Check, and... ugh. Check again.

   But the most unkind part of this of all, perhaps, was she couldn’t feel anything coming in from the outside. No reactions from other people, no ghosts of others’ physical pain when they bumped into things out of clumsiness... nothing. it was as if no one was there, but she could clearly see that they were. 

   She hadn’t noticed it at first, of course, as she hadn’t been exactly attentive to others, let alone focusing her full attention on them. However, pretty soon, her curiosity as to how she should gauge this potentially alarming situation, along with her old “eavesdropping” habits, clued her in to the anomaly. Well, now she had been downgraded to attempted eavesdropping, apparently.

   She had pinched herself many times, as the obvious first assessment would be that it was all some sort of hyper-realistic dream. But the pinching hadn’t worked the first time. Or the second time. Or the seventeenth. Downside: this most definitely was not a dream. Upside: at least, under the circumstances, she had not entered into a fugue state and wandered. With all the people around her and with the explanation she had been given upon arriving, his was clearly something more orchestrated.

   Gosh, now she just felt sick. And her forearms were sore and red. She had to be on Prank’d or something. As a seasoned and logically-minded detective and former officer of the law, there was simply no other... er, more logical explanation. Even though she had somehow kept her ability to detect lies of all things, and had already used her driver’s very dim responses to her questions to determine that she wasn’t being lied to about the situation, per se. Because this all made so much sense.

   “Oh... Oh, God... I think I’m gonna...”

   She held her head between her hands, heaving deeply to try (and fail) to get some air in her lungs. “I think I’m gonna... v- vomit...”

   To all the people standing in her immediate vicinity: you got another thing comin’.
