FALSE ADVERTISING release brand new single and video 'Wasted Days'.
Tumblr media
Manchester three-piece FALSE ADVERTISING have today released a brand new single and video 'Wasted Days', which is the 4th track taken from their forthcoming new album 'Brainfreeze' - out Friday 8th November. The single is a follow up to 'Influenza', which was an Annie Mac Radio 1 'New Name', an Amazing radio A List, a Radio X evening playlist and NME Radio B list addition. From singer/guitarist/occasional drummer Jen Hingley - "So, 'Wasted Days' is about questioning whether something you’re struggling is worth the hassle. When you know that the better thing would be to take yourself out of the equation and just let it go, but things are never ever really that simple. It also shares a few parallels with the first song that we ever put out called ‘Wasted Away’. It’s like it’s more raucous evil sibling." The band are set to release their brilliant and vibrant new album ‘Brainfreeze’ on November the 8th through their new label, Alcopop (Art Brut, DZ Deathrays, Tigercub). They have a UK headline tour kicking off in Manchester on Saturday 9th November, which follows a very busy live summer that has taken in a tour with Jamie Lenman, headline shows across the country and appearances at Truck, Tramlines, Liverpool Sound City, The Great Escape, 2000trees Festivals and many more.

Full list of FALSE ADVERTISING headline shows are below (supports will differ on each night): Nov 9th - Fairfield Social Club, Manchester Nov 10th - Sunflower Lounge, Birmingham Nov 11th - Head Of Steam, Newcastle  Nov 12th - Phase One, Liverpool Nov 13th - Key Club, Leeds Nov 14th - King Tuts, Glasgow Nov 16th - The Big Top, Cardiff Nov 17th - Crofters Rights, Bristol Nov 19th - The Prince Albert, Brighton Nov 20th - The Forum, Tunbridge Wells

Track of the Day: Glass Peaks - 'Architect'
Tumblr media
Glass Peaks make political statement with psychedelic, dystopian fueled single 'Architect'
London based trio Glass Peaks have unveiled their fourth single of the year - ‘Architect’, a post-punk Brexit statement, with the band putting their two-cents in on the current state of the British political system right now. The track sees the band once again pushing their limits when it comes to their unique sound. “Architect is quite aggressive from the get-go. There's no real smoothness to it and because of the songs subject matter, I wanted it to ooze attitude. It was important for me to really be able to spit those words out with venom, because I'm talking about things that genuinely frustrate me to my core. The lyrics mostly revolve around how sick to death I am (as are many disengaged young adults) with the state of British politics at the moment. It's mainly referring to this idea of 'Brexit'. I say 'idea' because to be honest, that's all it has felt like for the past few years; a really, really bad idea. The refrain is 'I just can't see how this will turn out'...Which I think really rings true. The people at the top have absolutely no idea what's going on or how to tackle it and it's sent every area and aspect of government into panic and disarray. We're seeing politicians and 'leaders' blatantly lying to our faces and then palming it off by scaremongering and sweeping it under the carpet. The lyrics mainly refer to how much of shambles the whole show is. We're literally watching a pantomime.” - Alfie Jefferies (Vocals)

Dublin's Pillow Queens release new single 'Brothers'
Tumblr media
Dublin band Pillow Queens have released a brand new single entitled 'Brothers'. Yesterday, it premiered at The FADER where it was described as "open-hearted and unafraid to say it as it is". The release begins the countdown toward their much anticipated 2020 debut album. The band say the track itself is about cherishing and loving the wonderful men in your life.
They explain further, "the lyrics in the verses show quick snapshots of the aftermath from a loss of a friend within a very tight knit group. An element of fear runs through the song as this sudden death makes you look around your group and feel terrified of the chances of another." It touches on a shared grief which drives you to hold dear the memories and moments you have with each other. While this song can be considered one about mourning, its ultimately about the intense love you have for your chosen family.

Sad Boys Club share 'Kukachu', the next single from their up-coming EP
Tumblr media
Rising London quartet Sad Boys Club present ‘Kukachu’, the next single from their up-coming EP. An indie anthem that brings both solemnness and sadness, 'Kukachu' also uplifts and sparkles, making it their brightest release so far this year. With the instant punchy kick-drum and a propelling chorus, the track has undertones of nostalgia, picking up on the indie pop/rock of the late 00s. It’s a complete ear-worm and definitely addictive, a clear indicator of what is inside their EP, four shades of the transitional phase.

New Stuff: Glass Peaks
Tumblr media
South East London lads, Glass Peaks, have a chat with us about their new track ‘Asbestos’.
What is the inspiration behind new track ‘Asbestos’ Alf - lyrically I suppose it’s falling out-of-love, really, and not really knowing the reason why; just knowing that something changed and having to explore the fragility in navigating that emotion.
Where are Glass Peaks from? What is that area’s claim to fame? Alf - We’re from between South East London and North West Kent. I actually found out that none other than David Bowie lived in my home town for a period of time as a teenager, which is pretty cool... not sure about Jake & Grant’s home town... there’s a pretty good Wetherspoons there?... Jake - OI! We had The Rolling Stones and a guy from Blue... me and GT are from Welling/Bexleyheath. A very uninspiring place tbh. But i think the greyness and gloom has a little reflection on our music. If we lived in California maybe we could write happy pop songs.
What is your drink of choice? And who would win in a drinking competition out of the three of you? Alf - GREAT question! My drink of choice is a spiced rum and coke. That or any crisp, freezing cold lager. You can’t beat a pint of the golden nectar. Grant would win a drinking competition out of the three of us hands down. The man is a machine, an awful drunk, but an absolute machine. Jake - I do like a Jack & Coke or a Guinness. Oh GT would win 100%, me & him have stayed up till 6am listening to Radiohead drinking cheap champagne many a time. Grant - Anything! Drink of choice currently is double vodka on the rocks however.
Which artists inspire the Glass Peaks sound? Alf - Radiohead, Foals, Tears for Fears and Depeche Mode. For sure. I could happily spin those four bands for the rest of eternity and be quite content. Jake - AGREED Alf, I think Grant's pretty influenced by Rock music much more than me and Alf. So that's what gives us that GRR grit is the hard hitting drums. Me and Alf have a similar taste in music tbh. Our love for Radiohead made us gel many years ago. Grant - I agree with both. I like to have the drums as groove orientated as I can. Pearl Jam first album vibes.
If you could make a cocktail to explain Glass Peaks, what would it be called and what would it have it? And how much would you charge for it? Alf - I’m gonna have to leave this one to Grant, being that he’s an actual mixologist. Plus I’m interested to see what he’d make of us as a cocktail! Jake - I once got Grant fired because from a bar job because i made it very clear he was sorting me free drinks all night. Whatever i was drinking that night. Thats us. Grant - I think we would be a layered cocktail. Something with a bit of kick, like vodka or whiskey. But also have a sweet side with some mad juice in the middle to round it all off. Call it the 3 peaks, for the 3 members and the 3 layers. Price a respectable £4:50 but the cheapest on the 2 for 1 happy hour.
When is your next live show? And why should we come see you? Alf - We’re playing a really intimate London Headline show at St Pancras Old Church in January 2020. You should definitely buy tickets for that as we’ll be pulling out all of the stops to create a really special evening of live music. It’s going to be a show you most definitely will not want to miss. Jake - you can see a 25 year old man rolling around on the floor in beer. That's worth it right? Grant - I mean the only reason I'm going is to see that 25 year old man roll about in beer. So should you
