Short preface here, I haven’t taken any notes or anything throughout my watch/current rewatch of Breaking Bad, so if I get anything wrong or misinterpret anything, I apologize.

[discussion of drug abuse]

When I watched Breaking Bad, the whole plot with Jesse’s parents kicking him out of his own house and basically rendering him homeless until he rented the house next to Jane really made me hate his parents. Like, when they were introduced in season one, my initial takeaway about them were “Yeah, they’re typical overbearing parents who expect a lot academically from their kids, but at least they care.” Which was a huge fucking lie because no, they don’t. They didn’t kick Jesse out of his Aunt Ginny’s house “for his own good” or in the hopes that he would get better— if anything, doing something like that would just worsen someone’s state and make them more resentful towards you— they did it because they were embarrassed by him and didn’t see his drug addiction as a genuine health issue. They saw it as bad behavior from their problem child who just needs some tough love.

Honestly, it’s insane how pretty much every non-drug addict in Breaking Bad sees drug addicts as inherently bad people and/or people who don’t deserve help because of their addiction. Throughout the series, Walter treats Jesse like he’s an idiot and belittles him for his drug abuse, Hank sees people who do anything illegal or use any kind of illicit substance as inherently bad, Marie and Skyler demonize any kind of drug use, the list goes on.

Back to the other thing though, it is incredibly clear that Jesse’s parents don’t actually care about him getting better or anything like that— like, no way you expect your son with a history of drug abuse to pull his life together after you un-house him and not offer any help or advice at all. Like damn, at least Jane’s dad was actively encouraging her to go to rehab and got reasonably upset when he found out she had relapsed— Jesse’s parents just want him to not exist to them because they don’t need him to anymore. They have Jake.

Anyways, yeah uh- I probably forgot/missed a few things. Ok byeeeee.

About a week ago I posted this.

I’ve been getting horrible messages like this in my ask for months, including:

After getting the message saying “Just go kill yourself” I was completely done dealing with this person’s horrible messages and replied with just an “Okay.” and logged off tumblr.

About a week later I logged back on with 17 messages in my ask, most of them from the anon. I scrolled down and at first when I logged off, the anon messaged me things like

This was extremely surprising to me. I thought “After all those horrible messages you sent to me for MONTHS about hating me and wanting me dead, you say ‘sorry’ and that you ‘cant be responsible for someone’s suicide’?”

But I guess the lesson goes like this:
