“That’s a good motherfucking idea, my invertebrother.” Gamzee mumbled against his friend’s shirt as he was already on the verge of falling asleep. He found it incredibly comfortable. Probably because he never slept in his recuperacoons and instead chose the horn piles as a proper napping place. Of course that did not keep him from using the slime as a snack.

He preferred this spot over sleeping in his horn pile alone though. It was way warmer and softer and soon, the clown was in a dreamless, deep slumber … 

When he awoke about 2 hours later, he sleepily blinked against the horn in his face. Somehow, they had shifted so that Tavro’s body was covered in horns, only his horns sticking out and Gamzee along with it.

The clown pushed them out of the way and yawned, rubbing his tired eyes before looking at Tavro’s. Man he looked adorable all asleep like that. 

Tavros had drifted off quicker than he expected and became enthralled in a dream of fairy dust and sword fights against eight eyed pirates with blue lipstick. There was no one to stop his over confidence in this mental realm and he was about to save the lost trolls from the spiderate when the dream world faded away and the weight on his body became more noticeable.

Groggily blinking awake the first thing he saw was Gamzee’s face contently staring back, prompting his think pan to wake up that much faster. Lifting his arm to rub his eyes and open his mouth wide for a yawn, a shifting horn dislodged from the pile and dropped into his awaiting jaws. Surprised, Tavros bit down and flinched at the sound, now more than awake as he remembered where he was.

Removing the horn from his mouth he snorted a laugh.

“mAN,,, yOU MUST HAVE SWALLOWED ONE OF THESE AS A GRUB;”

Resting his arm back down and his head atop it he suppressed another yawn.

“dID THOSE CRAZY STORM CLOUDS GO BY YET?;”

Gamzee had managed to land in the perfect position. His face was gently pushed against Tavro’s shirt as the other tried to wiggle his way out of the pile, and normally Gamzee wouldn’t waste a minute to help his friend. Though this was a once in a lifetime chance to just sit here with his bro, in a pile of horns, closer than they had ever been. 

The clown lazily smirked against Tavro’s shirt, wrapping his arms lazily around his friend as he closed his eyes. “Hang on a second, Brother. This shit sure’s motherfucking comfortable.” 

Perhaps he shouldn’t have eaten that extra piece of pie. It had made him lethargic and being tired and comfortable, was a recipe for a clown threatening to fall asleep. 

"iT IS?”

Staring at the top of Gamzee’s head Tavros laid still so as not to disturb the clown and figure out what was so comfy about the pile. He wasn’t completely uncomfortable. If you ignore the jagged metal and the sound of rubber slowly inflating and deflating with the smallest movement it was sort of..... yeah no he can’t bluff this, this is pretty darn uncomfy.

At least Gamzee was warm. Like a sticky blanket. With enough sopor clinging to his clothes to be a passable recuperacoon.

Unable to move himself and too much of a softy to disturb the oh so snuggly clown of his comfort Tavros blew some of Gam’s hair away from his mouth and gently tightened his hold.

“i CAN’T FIT MY HORNS IN RECUPERACOONS ANYWAY,,,,; lET’S ‘GET OUR NAP ON BROTHER’;

He couldn’t believe the stunt Tavro’s pulled. It made Gamzee stare in awe as the other rolled backwards crashing straight into his horn pile. With the fury of a thousand horns echoing through Gamzee’s hive , he only saw Tavro’s horns sticking out of the pile while the rest of him was buried underneath.

“ Woah .. Wicked! “

Now that was an ingenius idea - Gamzee could barely contain himself as he took a running start, slipped over one of the horns and landed head first in the pile. Another orchestra of obnoxious honks followed all while Gamzee tried to get his head back out.

He didn’t try actually getting out of the pile though - it was too comfortable.

Blinded by the horns on his face Tavros could only hold his breath and guess what Gamzee was about to do. His guess couldn’t prepare him for the sudden impact of a skinny clown body dropping on his own face first into his gut. 

Narrowly missing being blinded by the tips of Gamzee’s horns Tavros tried to wave his arms and move the honking instruments around him away to reach solid hive. Unsuccessful in this and more than aware the more he wiggled the closer he was to accidentally becoming a second Terezi, he decided to ensure his safety first off.

“uH,,, HANG ON A SEC GAMZ,,; i JUST GOTTA,,,,;”

Carefully resting his chin atop Gamzee’s head, his face between the clown’s horns he wrapped his arms around the other’s waist. He could just ask Gamzee to help him up but wasn’t so sure the clown had the strength to do it. 

“oKAY,,,SO ON THE COUNT OF THREE,,,,TRY TO LIKE,,,ROLL TO THE SIDE; i’LL GRAB MY CHAIR AND DRAG MYSELF UP YEAH?,,,;”

Since Gamzee himself didn’t need a horn to do so he got himself ready, taking another swig of Faygo before the sound echoed through his hive. For once he wasn’t startled by it either. Maybe because he didn’t step on it this time and once it was his turn, the clown happily chimed in with a loud, cheerful –

“ HOONK! “

Despite being kinda sluggish, slow or lazy - Gamzee sure knew how to honk. It had been stuck with him ever since he hatched, it was his religion and legacy. No way he would let a single horn out-honk him!

“ You gotta dust off your weak ass motherfucking noise brother,  I see the shiniest of crowns already before my gander bulbs! “

“oH SHIIIIIIIT,,,, IT’S ON NOW!;”

Tavros was amazed Gamzee could hold so much sound inside such a lanky body, where did he keep all that air? Not ready to quit, the horns in his hands were honked and honked until it was clear they couldn’t beat the volume of the clown. Time to pull out all the stops!

“dAMN BRO YOU REALLY GOT ME BY THE ROPES,,,,,,; bUT GUESS WHAT?,,,;”

Dropping the horns like pistols emptied of their ammunition the bull grinned and grabbed hold of the large wheels on his four wheeled device.

“i’M ON A ROLL!!!;”

With a push and a pull Tavros sent himself wheeling back into the nearest horn pile, crashing into the mass of wind instruments and sending a number of them flying. He himself fell back off the chair and with the collision came the most migraine inducing concert of honks he had ever heard.

He did not think this through.

Jade was just trying to get somewhere, possibly getting a haircut as her long ass hair was always a huge pain in her butt. Was that Tavros? Instinctively she had moved to catch him just in any case that he failed to catch his own dang self.

Wow, she was even prettier up close. She didn’t seem dangerous though, as most if not all the pretty girls he’d met are, and the tail and ears were...

Gamzee didn’t really get it but he trusted Tavro’s when he told him that it was just one of Vriska’s shenanigans. Maybe that was just her thing, no reason to lose his shit about it. Perhaps he just took it too seriously. A lazy smirk reappeared on his features at the mention of ‘Bro Time’ - oh he was all in for that.

Now to make things even better, he made it a challenge. Since the rap off was already done with,a  honk-off would be something new.

“ Shiiihiiiit bro, you really think ya could out-honk a brother? I’m gonna schoolfed you the wicked lessons so hard, your rump’s gonna be sitting on the floor so hard from all the Honk-serving I’m gonna unleash upon your motherfucking self. ” 

Gamzee bared his teeth, waiting for Tavro’s first move. Man he loved how bad things always seemed to disappear around Tavros. 

Seeing a smile come back to Gamzee’s face was a huge relief. The only time he could think of the clown not smiling is when, in Gamzee terms, his think pan was full of miracles.

Raising the horn up over his head Tavros grinned and slowly counted down from three, starting the first honk on one and pinching the rubber sphere bit over and over to let loose a chorus of honks.He didn’t get what was so appealing about the noise but if his bro liked it he’d gladly keep doing it. That’s what friends do.

“yOU HEAR THAT?; tHAT’S THE SOUND OF A NEW HONK KING BEING CROWNED!;”

Of course if he was really going to compete with Gamzee’s lungs he’d need to be ready with his trump card.

Catching his chair from rolling back with the sheer force of amazement he felt seeing the stranger, Tavros felt his heart stop then kick it into overdrive. Were they a lusus? A troll? An alien?! Why were they so pretty?!
