Today I’m grateful for my grandmother. Her peaceful simplicity reminds me of my roots. Farming, good food, kind humans and fresh air are the hallmarks of my upbringing and she always brings me home; in the most visceral of ways. Her loving and generous nature flow through me, as we are one in the same. This union and knowing of one another is truly special. We have always been great pals; ever since we started throwing ball when I was just learning to walk.
I am so grateful to have such inspiring love in my life!

Today, I am feeling exceptionally grateful for my mother. Actually, of all the people that have positively impacted my life, she has certainly been foundational in the formation of my identity as an individual. Her compassion, integrity and commitment are some of the things I value most in her, and thus myself. We are powerful mirrors for one another. The love I feel for her is one of the strongest experiences of love I’ve ever felt in my life. It overtakes me with emotion sometimes. My eyes fill with tears of joy as I type. One of her greatest wishes for me is to experience the love for a child. I cannot imagine; I might explode with love. That certainly feels like a positive growth opportunity. This is just one of the many examples of how my mom expresses her love for me. I truly feel like one of the luckiest humans on Earth to have her as my mother.
If your reading mom, these words pale in comparison to the love that fills my heart.
Shake, shake...wow!

Today I’m grateful for my home. Each day I wake to roosters crowing as the sun rises over Contagalo. Fireworks crackling off just because. Singing and music fill the house. I just love Poppy’s singing. A new tea habit is forming nicely. Morning yoga sweats and cold showers. I am so blessed.

Today I’m grateful for melodies that ignite my passion. I’m grateful to sweat in my underwear as the sunrises over Ipanema Beach. I’m grateful to share radiant energy with my energetic companion as we engage our morning writing rituals in unison. I’m grateful and excited to map out my rituals for 2017; the ingredients to aligning with the highest version of myself.

Today, on this sunny and glorious January 1, 2017 in Rio de Janeiro, I’m infinitely grateful for the magic that exists all around me each day. I’m grateful for the always inspiring Poppy Liu; my energetic companion in life who gracefully inspires the best version of me to emerge each day. I am grateful for the opportunities I have in life by nature of my birth. I am grateful for the presence that continues to grow inside me, pulling forth more consciousness, compassion and love each day. I’m grateful for my family and friends, who hold me accountable to being the best I can possibly be. I am grateful for exactly where we are as a humanity and the opportunity that is present to us at this very moment. Lastly, I am grateful for a passion that burns stronger inside me each day.

Today I’m grateful for the opportunity to live between such fascinating, hyper-creative, dynamic, culturally diverse and inspiring cities; NYC that stimulates my mind and Rio that deeply grounds me in my body. I’m also grateful for the colorful, wise and passionate friends that bring such joy into my life, such as Khalida and David Brohi Barron. Their commitment to building sustainable methods of addressing (and ending) some of our world’s greatest injustices is awe-inspiring.
Read David’s story about how gratitude turned his life around.

This is my life...enough said!
Our Friday afternoon...Hudson Valley Cuts @ Poppy’s Barber Shop, making a shopping list for the evening’s community meal and a little co-working on the river’s edge just to check the technomad productivity box.
On this 29th anniversary of my brain surgery, I am grateful for an impromptu journey up the Hudson River, the incredibly inspiring community that graced this beautiful home Upstate, today’s flowing conversation at Omega with my dear friend Omar, singing circle songs, the ability to have all these incredible experiences and now be sitting in my home in NYC and the endless love and compassion that overflows from my energetic companion Poppy’s heart.
If I read a novel that expelled the journeys of my life, I would be in awe.
I bow in gratitude!
