little Truthless Recluse rant because I don't like the way he was portrayed in the beast yeast episodes.

his whole existence literally means nothing character-wise, as much as we can infer that it affected him via the symbolism in his awakening animation, the fact he was only ever acting the entire time just takes away any potential to feel like there were stakes or a character development going on. which is really dissapointing since meeting his beast should've been a huge moment for him.

PV doesn't go through any 'arc' when he's with Shadow Milk, he's simply good throughout the whole story then becomes even more good. It makes Shadow Milk's manipulation feel less genuine and like it has no real threat to PV. It feels as if Shadow Milk is putting his all into being a villian and PV is simply counting the seconds until he can leave. what smc does or tries to do to him means nothing to PV

I get that he'd never sacrafice gingergang but we don't see how smc's manipulation ACTUALLY affects him (because it barely does)

Sure, you could say that the whole yoghurt river thing proves that he did suffer and falter a bit but it's just not nearly as dramatic or impactful as it could've been. It would've been better if we could've at the very least seen him struggle or his thought process whilst he was in the river. PV's awakening means nothing if we don't see the process of how he got there. instead all we get is a brief scene of the other characters wondering if he's gonna come back out. and that's it.

I'd love to see a version of PV who is genuinely impacted by SMC's manipulation because it would actually make it feel as if his beast yeast story has a point. sure, he would've never had to go in to the yoghurt river if it weren't for smc but nothing he really does after that matters because PV has already decided to not falter.

TL;DR pure vanilla needed to suffer more in beast yeast because meeting his beast should've been something that really shook him to his core but it just.... didn't.

Pre awakening PV is such a funny and weird little specimen that I analyze in my lab (my brain) all the time. I love him because of how flawed he is and how it contradicts what he's supposed to represent

He's seen as this wise, mature, and leading beacon for everyone, but you take a good look at him and he's just trying his best, constantly trying to make peace with everyone and find mutual grounding which leads him to make the wrong choices. He tries his best to understand his friends but yet he feels soooo distant from all of them
