We together with Doha Environmental Actions & Doha Beach Clean Project volunteers organizing a beach cleanup this weekend! Yes to cleanup? So Our departure is at 2h45pm from the Dairy Queen (near Radisson Blue, C-Ring and Salwa Road) - see location below). Be cool, be on time :) We will be excited to get going ! To the amazing DRIVERS out there! Please post if you have a car and how many spots available. We will be forever thankful and you contribute to the sucess the event ! If you need a ride, please tag yourself under the driver's post with available spots. Be respectful. Be thankful. Be on time! What to bring with you :
YOU ID / RP ! We love you all but drivers can get in trouble if they
Transport people with no ID.
Water, Water, Water! Think of the environment and fil up a reusable bottle!
Hats to protect from the sun
Proper shoes to walk on the beach to protect your feet from broken glass. Water shoes if you have some!
Old grocery bags to collect the garbage. I normally find a lot on the beach and in the water that I use to keep collecting garbage.
Gloves if you want to protect your hands (i will have a few extra pairs).
Towel and change of clothes :) !
Sunscreen or long sleeves shirts and pants. I suggest covering up with light clothing so you don't need to put sunscreen on. Also, jumping in the water before cleaning the beach cools you down by evaporation. If some like snorkeling make sure to pack your equipment.
Anything else you want to bring ! hahah
We suggested that people bring food as we can have a potluck but there is no obligation of course! Last thing! We try to separate garbage and recyclables. So much plastic can we recycled and not sent to the dump ! #Qatar #CleanUP #SilentCleanUP Let's surf the wave of sucess! Nasser Bin Khaled Automobiles presents Special Offer on Mercedes-Benz V-Class in Celebration of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
To celebrate the holy month of Ramadan and showcase its commitment to the Qatar community, Nasser Bin Khaled Automobiles, the authorized general distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Qatar, has launched special offer on Mercedes-Benz V-Class cars.
Available during Ramadan and June 2017, the V-Class is available from QAR 249,000. In addition, customers can benefit from free registration, 3 years warranty with unlimited mileage and flexible internal and bank financing options. As part of this special finance offer, customers have to pay only 20% down payment at the time of delivery of the vehicle and they can drive the highly desirable Mercedes-Benz with no further payments due until January 2018.
The new V-Class combines room for up to eight people and exemplary functionality with the high-class appeal, comfort, efficient driving pleasure and safety that distinguish automobiles bearing the three-pointed star. This makes the Mercedes among MPVs the perfect vehicle for everyone who appreciates great spaciousness but does not want to sacrifice style and comfort.
The new V-Class provides optimum flexibility when it comes to use of the interior and always cuts an elegant figure at the same time. The V-Class is a versatile, multitalented vehicle which offers value, efficiency and safety at the highest level.
Emotional, dynamic appearance – size in a new guise
Even at first glance the V-Class is unmistakably a member of the Mercedes-Benz passenger car family and sets an emotional highlight in its segment. At the center of the powerful front is the upright radiator grille with three-dimensional central star and the progressively designed headlamps, which for the first time in this segment offer all lighting functions in LED technology as an option. The sculptured V-shaped bonnet merges elegantly into the sporty chrome frame of the radiator grille and the headlamps.
The clearly contoured side wall is structured by two elongated, taut lines. The interplay of concave and convex surfaces conveys a sculptural – and as such highly sensuous – character. Both lines smoothly continue the distinctive contour lines of the front bumper and rise slightly as they continue on towards the rear. The side view thus appears stretched, suggesting dynamism.
Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive – exemplary safety
A high level of driving comfort and an exemplary standard of safety are ensured by a total of eleven innovative driver assistance systems. They are based on state-of-the-art radar, camera and ultrasound sensors, which were introduced in the new E-Class and S-Class under the name "Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive". Standard equipment includes Crosswind Assist, which helps the driver to stabilize the V-Class in strong, gusting crosswinds, and ATTENTION ASSIST, which can warn of inattention and drowsiness. An available option is Active Parking Assist. It makes parking the new MPV as easy and convenient as parking a compact car.
Also optionally available are the 360° camera, DISTRONIC PLUS adaptive cruise control with COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST, Traffic Sign Assist with wrong-way warning function, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, the LED Intelligent Light System and Adaptive Highbeam Assist. Most of these assistance systems are available in this segment for the first time.
The PRE-SAFE® system, familiar from the passenger car models, is available as an optional extra to further enhance safety. When an accident threatens, it initiates protective measures to ensure that the belts and airbags offer optimum protection during a collision.
Top efficiency: six-cylinder performance with four-cylinder fuel consumption
At market launch the new V-Class comes to the starting line with the state-of-the-art 2.1-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine with two-stage turbocharging, which has already proven highly successful in many passenger car model series from the A-Class to the S-Class, and which has now been further enhanced specifically for the MPV.
New standard of agility and driving pleasure
To enhance personal driving pleasure, the V-Class is the only vehicle in its segment to offer the AGILITY SELECT function in conjunction with the automatic transmission. At the push of a button the driver can select from four driving modes: economical, comfortable, sporty and manual. Engine, accelerator and transmission response are then adapted accordingly.
Leading the field in aerodynamics and noise comfort
Low drag is crucial to achieving outstanding efficiency. The level of noise and perceptible vibrations has a major influence on the sense of wellbeing in an automobile. Experts use the term NVH for this: Noise Vibration Harshness. Throughout the development period, the engineers at Mercedes-Benz showed an almost forensic fervour in investigating every possible source of noise and vibrations, so as to eliminate these with specific measures. As a result, thanks to new component concepts and comprehensive insulation the V-Class offers its occupants the lowest noise level in the segment. The interior noise level has been almost halved compared to the preceding model.
Modern style and high-class appeal
The interior of the V-Class is a completely new MPV experience. And not only because it is pleasantly quiet. High-quality materials with a pleasant touch and feel and a harmonious colour concept, intricate details as well as a progressive and sensuous design idiom convey outstanding high-class appeal in the segment – and that hallmark "welcome home" feeling typical of Mercedes-Benz cars. Fine nappa leather is also available for the seats, steering wheel and shift lever. This inviting atmosphere is rounded off by subtle ambient lighting in three colours.
A particular eye-catcher is the dynamically styled two-part dashboard. The upper and lower sections are separated by a large, three-dimensional trim element that creates an impression of width and underscores the high-class appeal. The lower section is sculptural in design. This emphasizes the generous sense of space while also exuding a tangible lightness. For the first time in this class, a leather-look cockpit upper section with lavishly finished topstitching is optionally available.
Other highlights include the free-standing central display, the multifunction steering wheel with 12 buttons and DIRECT SELECT lever with steering wheel shift paddles for automatic models, as well as the innovative touchpad, which allows all telematics functions to be operated by means of gestures or by entering characters in the same way as on a smartphone. The touchpad is available in conjunction with equipment starting from the Audio 20 CD or COMAND Online. In addition the V-Class features the new "Mercedes-Benz Touch" app. For the first time in a Mercedes-Benz, this enables the COMAND Online infotainment system to be controlled from any seat via smartphone. Together, the app and touchpad form the key to the most cutting-edge control and display concept in this vehicle class.
Separately opening rear window and second loading level
For easy loading and unloading, the V-Class features another first in this segment in the shape of the separately opening rear windscreen attached to the upper tailgate frame. It can be opened and closed independently of the tailgate. This makes loading and unloading easier in two respects: on the one hand, it allows a second loading level; on the other – particularly in tight parking spaces – there is no need to open the large tailgate.

 Full artwork and biography follow.
Following the success of similar events in Mexico, US, the UK, Spain, Brussels, Kazakhstan and more recently Hong Kong and Beirut, Qatar has now put its own spin on the project.
Further strengthening its ties with art, true to its values of creativity and design, Roche Bobois has invited twelve Local Qatar-based artists to create artworks using the square cushioned components of Roche Bobois’ Mah Jong modular sofa system. l
These twelve distinct contemporary artists, masters in their fields, have freely and totally re-imagined one of the most iconic pieces of the French house, the Mah Jong sofa. Twelve surprising works, each with their own character and personality, all unique pieces that were born with a spirit of solidarity; that of raising funds for Rofaqa initiative.
The twelve artists invited to reinterpret the Mah Jong have been selected for the quality and ambition of their work and for their ability to respond to this project in the most exciting and creative way.
All funds raised are used to support Rofaqa initiative which aims to develop an advanced integrated care programme for orphans around the world, including social, educational, health and psychological care of orphans worldwide.
Designed by Hans Hopfer in 1971, the Mah Jong has become the most recognised of Roche Bobois’ innovative designs with versions produced by fashion icons Jean Paul Gaultier and Missoni, amongst others. Its low modular structure, that harks back to the North African and Middle Eastern majlis, invites users to relax and to lounge with friends and family in a way that was entirely new at the beginning of the 1970s for western cultures.
Following the exhibition, the works were auctioned at Albahie Auction House on June 7, with the aim of raising as much money as possible for Rofaqa initiative. It is soon to confirm the total raised amount as bidders have up to 7 days to proceed with payments, however the estimated raised amount reported is 138,725 QAR.
Nicolas Roche, Creative Director of Roche Bobois said:
“This is a wonderfully exciting project that celebrates creative expression and individuality. It’s been fascinating to see the variety of approaches and ideas to come from such a talented group of artists.
We’re delighted with the results and hope that collectors, Roche Bobois' clients and friends and all those who support contemporary art, creativity, invention and design will support the auction.”
Rami El Natsha, Deputy MD of Tivoli Group of Companies, business partner of Roche Bobois in Qatar continues:
“It is a great honour to be able to bring together on such a beautiful project, twelve first-class contemporary artists who are masters in their fields, strengthening ties between charity and art. We’re delighted to be supporting Rofaqa, a Qatar Charity initiative that provides care to orphans worldwide. There is no better time than the holy month of Ramadan to support philanthropic causes, offering orphan children around the world the hope of a brighter future.”
Ashraf Abu Issa, Chairman & CEO of Abu Issa Holding and co-founder of AlBahie Auction House said:
"AlBahie Auction House is pleased to host Roche Bobois and Q-Charity for this unique collaboration of Qatari artists and majlis-style sofas. We look forward to welcoming guests during the holy month of Ramadan in support of this initiative that brings together contemporary art and design for the benefit of Qatar Charity."

 About The Mah Jong Sofa
Painter, sculptor, designer… Hans Hopfer designed sofas that are, for many, the indisputable signature of Roche Bobois’ collections. In the 1970s, Hopfer’s innovative informal approach to comfort had a profound influence on the way people furnished and arranged their living space.
In 1971, he created the Mah Jong, a sofa based on total freedom of function and form. Its low modular structure, that harks back to the North African and Middle Eastern majlis, invites users to relax and to lounge.
From a starting point of three basic elements that can be set at angles or overlaid, the Mah Jong allows limitless options of composition. It can be an armchair, sofa, lounge chair or bed; a space in which to rest, to play or to lounge. It encourages experimentation and breaks the rules of formal living.
Avant-garde when first created, iconic today, “dressed” by Missoni Home and Jean Paul Gaultier amongst others, this free-form modular seating is the reference point for fully modular creative design.
The Mah Jong is handmade by talented craftsmen in a dedicated workshop in Italy using processes and techniques similar to those of the “Haute Couture” fashion industry. Each component is individually hand-stitched using a method similar to that of mattress-making, and the utmost attention is paid to detailing. By virtue of the exclusive fabrics used to upholster it and the unique nature of each composition, every Mah Jong composition becomes a one-of-a-kind creation.

 About Qatar Charity and Rofaqa
The welfare of children and orphans has long been a focus for many international initiatives and organizations. Statistics indicate that in 2011 there are more than 152 million orphans worldwide.
In the Arab world (Asia and Africa), there are more than 128 million orphaned children. These children are deprived of rights to education and healthcare, exacerbated in areas of conflict.
In response to this, Qatar Charity launched a new initiative, "Rofaqa" to care for orphaned children around the world. Their aim is to develop an advanced integrated care for orphans including social, educational, health and psychological care of orphans worldwide.
  Rofaqa. Inspiration.
The Prophet said, “I and the caretaker of the orphan will enter Paradise together”.
Rofaqa means ‘companions’. Prophet Muhammad's companions are those with him in Paradise.

Al Meera welcomes MEC initiative with extended operating hours at most of its branches across Qatar.
In response to the Ministry of Economy and Commerce’s (MEC) call on shopping centers to adjust their operating hours during the Holy month of Ramadan, to further cater to the needs of consumers, Al Meera Consumer Goods Company (Q.S.C) has arranged to extend the operating hours – till after midnight – in most of the Company’s branches, in addition to turning its shopping center in Al Mansoura into Al Meera’s second 24-hour operating branch (following the Legtaifiya branch) in Qatar.
Al Meera’s latest arrangement comes in appreciation of the Ministry’s role in protecting consumers and enhancing their experiences at commercial venues, and as direct support from the Company’s end, as the first Consumer Retail Chain in the country to communicate its commitment to the initiative ‘The Least We Can Do’ launched by MEC. The initiative also comes in line with Al Meera’s mission to provide consumers across Qatar with convenience and a world-class shopping experience that provides true value for money.
Commenting on the initiative, Sheikh Thani Bin Thamer Al Thani, Al Meera’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, said:
“Since inception, Al Meera has been at the heart of the community and has spared no effort to make a real difference in the shopping experience of consumers across the country, and this year, Al Meera’s active participation in the Ministry of Economy and Commerce’s initiative ‘The Least We Can Do’ is the expression of our appreciation for their role in the Qatari community.”
He added: “In light of this initiative, Al Meera proudly extends its operating hours in most stores and has allocated our Mansoura branch to operate for 24 hours. Al Meera is pleased to be further serving the Qatari community through extending our operating hours, embodying our motto ‘Your Favourite Neighbourhood Retailer’, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 for the ongoing support to the various regions of the country.”
Al Meera’s participation in the MEC initiative ‘The Least We Can Do’ comes on the heels of its recent collaboration with the Ministry, where the Company made use of visually designed shelf talkers to clearly designate 418 products that are priced by the MEC in order to keep consumers well informed during the Holy Month, while making their shopping experience at Al Meera convenient and hassle-free as well as enjoyable.
The provision of specially designated MEC-priced items further augments shoppers experience at Al Meera stores during Ramadan, where the Company has launched its ‘1438 consumer goods at cost price’ distinctive offer as a tribute to the Islamic Year 1438, which comes as part of this year’s Ramadan campaign under the slogan ‘an abundance of good, in the month of goodness’.
The campaign comes as an extension of last year’s Ramadan offer, and gives patrons of 35 of Al Meera branches, as well as Géant Hypermarket, the opportunity to purchase at cost price 1438 high quality products that have been carefully selected to cater to the specific needs of shoppers in the holy month.
Since its founding in 2005, Al Meera has continued to affirm its commitment to Qatar’s social and cultural values and has taken many steps to make a real difference in the shopping experience of community members across the country.

Fifty One East and Sony MEA present professional photography’s game changing α9 camera in Four Seasons Hotel Doha.
Fifty One East, Qatar’s Favorite Department Store, and Sony Middle East and Africa (MEA) presented the latest revolutionary digital camera, the α9 (model ILCE-9), at an exclusive event at Four Seasons Hotel Doha.
The most technologically advanced, innovative digital camera that Sony has ever created, the α9 offers a level of imaging performance that is simply unmatched by any camera either mirrorless or SLR.
The α9 offers many impressive capabilities that are simply not possible with a modern digital SLR camera including high-speed, blackout-free continuous shooting3 at up to 20fps4, 60 AF/AE tracking calculations per second[1], a maximum shutter speed of up to 1/32,000 second8 and much more.
The α9 (model ILCE-9) will be available at Fifty One East store located in Al Maha Center on Salwa Road in addition to FNAC and all branches of Virgin Megastore from mid-June 2017 onwards at QAR 17,499. Meanwhile, the new FE 100-400mm GM Super Telephoto Zoom Lens will be available at QAR 10,999.
These are made possible thanks to its 35mm full-frame stacked Exmor RS™ CMOS sensor - the world’s first of its kind – which enables data speed processing at up to 20x faster than previous Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras[2]. This unique sensor is paired with a brand new, upgraded BIONZ X processing engine and front-end LSI that maximises overall performance.
This industry-leading speed and innovative silent shooting7 is combined with a focusing system that features an incredible 693 phase detection AF points. Covering approximately 93% of the frame, the focusing system ensures that even the fastest moving subjects are reliably captured and tracked across the frame.
The α9 also features a vibration free, fully electronic, completely silent anti-distortion shutter7 with absolutely no mechanical mirror or shutter noise, making it an extremely powerful photographic tool for any shooting situation that demands quiet operation. To ensure maximum usability and reliability, the camera features a Z battery with approximately 2.2x the capacity of W batteries, as well as dual SD media card slots, including one that supports UHS-II cards. An Ethernet port (wired LAN terminal) is available as well, and there is a wide variety of settings, controls and customisability options that are essential for working professionals.
“The α9 breaks through all barriers and limitations of today’s professional digital cameras, with an overall feature set that simply cannot be matched considering the restrictions of mechanical SLR cameras.  It is a fresh look at what a camera is and what a camera should be and really enhances how a professional camera person does his or her job”  said Taro Kimura, Managing Director, Sony MEA.
“Sony is a worldwide leader in digital imaging and the world’s largest image sensor manufacturer. The α9 is a welcome addition to our line-up of industry leading Interchangeable Lens Cameras that include the much acclaimed α7 Series and α6000 series. This year, we are aiming to achieve a 52 per cent sales growth in the Interchangeable Lens Camera business and expect the Full Frame Camera segment to grow by 108%,” Kimura added.
Sony Flagship G Master™ 100-400mm Super Telephoto E-Mount Zoom takes centre stage at Photography Live 2017
Sony MEA is also unveiling its furthest reaching E-mount lens, the FE 100-400mm F4.5–5.6 GM OSS Super Telephoto Zoom (model SEL100400GM), at Photography Live.
The full-frame lens maintains the high standard of resolution that is the hallmark of Sony’s flagship line-up of G Master™ lenses, while also offering incredibly fast, precise AF capabilities, a lightweight, portable design and a variety of professional functions and customisability. It’s an exceptionally powerful photographic tool for a variety of enthusiast and professional shooters, particularly those that are commonly shooting sports or wildlife.
The FE 100-400mm GM model produces outstanding corner-to-corner sharpness throughout the lens’ zoom and focus ranges and beautiful rendered ‘bokeh’ or background defocus, ensuring the finest details are brought out in every subject and scene.
The complex design features 22 lens elements configured in 16 different groups, including one Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion) and two ED glass elements, all of which are working together to minimise chromatic aberration and ensure the ultimate resolution is captured. The lens also has Sony’s original Nano AR coating, which is particularly useful for shooting sports scenes or wildlife, as it reduces unwanted reflections.
In order to keep up with fast-moving action, the FE 100-400mm GM super telephoto zoom lens features the combination of a double linear motor and a Direct Drive SSM actuator, which also ensures precise, quiet operation.
The double motor system allows rapid focus lens drive acceleration to capture the sudden motion that is common with sports and wildlife photography, while high precision positioning control and a newly optimised AF algorithm ensure the subject is quickly found and focused on. This ensures that the maximum AF performance of a camera like the α9 is realised.
A variety of exclusive stories and exciting new content shot with the new α9 camera and other Sony α products can be found here, a site built to educate and inspire all fans and customers of the Sony α brand.  The new content will also be posted directly at the Sony Photo Gallery and the Sony Camera Channel on YouTube.

To further encourage the kids to ‘Live the Spirit’, a story-teller – ‘Hakawati’ – will bring the children to gather round and listen to special anecdotes and mementos of traditional Ramadan practices, educating them with the significance of the virtues surrounding Ramadan.
Another special on-ground engagement will be the presence of the Ramadan ‘Mesaharati’ – who will take a walk around the indoor theme park, beating his drum in honor of the traditional drummer that walks the streets before dawn to wake those that are sleeping, in order to have a small meal before fasting resumes.
Commenting on the occasion of the Holy month of Ramadan, Ms. Eman Baker Abu El Hawa, KidzMondo Doha’s General Manager, said:

New York Times names Qatar’s  AlHazm Mall as one of world’s coolest malls.
Inspired by Milan’s 19th-century Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Al Hazm Mall is the definition of luxury shopping. As written on their website, the mall is “designed for connoisseurs, those who appreciate the finer things in life”. And if you think that means that it will be a hub for the finest and latest luxury product, you’re right, but yet far off.
Al Hazm Mall, created by Qatari real estate magnate Mohamed Abdel Karim Al Emadi, is not the place to visit when you feel like buying a new addition to your wardrobe, or just “hang out”. It is a mall that will give you an experience, the experience of the finer European lifestyle, in the heart of Qatar.
Offering a revolutionary experience in high-end lifestyle, the mall is enough to be a travel destination of its own. Once you arrive, you will not want to leave until you have experienced it all.
Instead of bringing together shoppers, Al Hazm aims at bringing together a culture. Alongside the luxury brand stores, it will have a women’s spa/social club, as well as a library with rare editions of Arabic and English classics. If that doesn’t speak luxury enough, arrivals will be welcomed with a glass pyramid, similar to the one at the French, Musée du Louvre. Like something out of a James Bond movie, the pyramid serves as a V.I.P. entrance to an underground auction house, with personal shoppers and butler service.
Wandering through the Al Hazm, you will be captivated by the domed-glass roof, Tuscan marble walls and hand-carved Arabian details all around. And to beat the annoying desert heat, the mall’s beautiful and fragrant surrounding gardens are temperature-controlled, giving you the space to freely enjoy the fountains, gazebos and 200-year-old olive trees imported from Spain.
