hitchhiking AU
during his gap year matteo is visting hanna who moved from berlin to another city to become a midwife(hebamme?). unfortunately he has no money to go back so he remembers jonas talking about hitchhiking. how nice and easy it is and that he does it all the time to visit hanna. matteo is convinced he can do it as well. how hard can it be?
so this is how he ended up on a slip road to the motorway. matteo’s let his attention slip for a short moment as he faded into a nap in the car he was currently on and they drove past the last gas station before the dude driving has to leave the motorway. he panicked and got out of the car on sayed spot opposed to jonas preaching to never get out on a slip road or a small parking lot. ‘always try to end up at a gas station of some sort.’ he curses himself and also jonas as really fast cars pass by dangerously close to him and the people in them honking aggressively.
it seems to get dark soon and matteo fears that his first time hitchhiking ends up with him sleeping in a forest next to the autobahn or walking to the next gas sation. either way he will not make it to berlin this day and it will be a rough night.
suddenly a very beat up looking van stops apruptly right next to matteo, hazard flasher, squeaky breaks and all. a figure leans to the passenger door and tries to open it from the inside. ‘get in, quick, quick, this is fucking dangerous!’
matteo stops freezing in shock of thinking that soon a car will hit him and after the fifth ‘mach jetzt losloslos’ he gets moving and into the van which is driven off as quickly as it came. now with matteo on the inside.
the first thing he realises is that there is trash everywhere, he has to get some plastic bottles and cups and take out containers and scrap papers from undeneath him and throws them to his feet where there is only more trash. the second thing is that the driving style of the guy is apparently as bad as his cleaning habits. at least matteo doesn’t has to sleep in the middle of fucking nowhere in the woods.
he tries to look over his backpack which is on his lap to said driver, to thank him for this drive-by maneuver as it hits him. the man, or should he say boy is one of the prettiest he has ever seen. and berlin has a lot of pretty boys to offer in matteos eyes.
the boy is looking over to him, stretching his neck a little to look over matteos backpack.
I’m david and you?
matteo.
