Salmon! To me their lives and cycles are just so beautiful and having worked with them in Alaska & Washington and learning so many of the Indigenous stories about them on the islands and down the Salish coast I am forever awed by the way entire cultures and forests and ecosystems and species have hinged so completely on their existence. Unironically the tens of thousands of years of human and animal and tree and river life all depending upon salmon in places across the entire world shakes me to my core when I think about it for 35 seconds. I am so genuinely reverent about salmon at this point.
