Chapter XI: A Year of Red

This is it! The last chapter of Book One is here! It will be a while before you see Book Two, but just know that it is coming. Check the notes at the end of the chapter for info, and I will be sure to update here when I have one. Thanks for reading with me!

Summary:

As part of the agreement reached among the clans, the Hando Manîdh offer themselves to the Orocarni for one year.  Their goal: bring peace and prosperity to the mountains as they did for the elves.  The problem: the dwarves already have that.  They stay and give the dwarves all they can in order to make the kings there happy, and to gain some semblance of friendship between them all before continuing their journey.  The only thing keeping the dwarves happy is the promise of mountains in the south they could one day take for themselves.

Chapter X: Ironfists and Stiffbeards

Summary:

As the three arrive in the south, they wait for the kings to converge so they can have their meeting.  The three plead for their cause, but are unsuccessful in swaying the larger southern kingdoms to their quest.  Just as they are about to be banished from the mountain, the northern party finds themselves in Idgrec with Iddûn IV Blacklock and Rafim III Stonefoot, who fight for their mission to ensnare the kings of Ironfists and Stiffbeards to the ultimate journey.

Chapter IX: The Mines of the Orocarni

Good morning everyone! Sorry I forgot to post on Friday but the next chapter is up, so feel free to check it out at the links below!

Summary:

Rómestámo, Elduin, and Khamûl begin their venture southwards.  Brothers Gidum and Lidum take the three south along their shared road under the mountains.  While the two clans do not usually converse with the other two, they did at one point agree to maintain a highway between them.  It takes many days and nights to make the journey, but is hastened by railways that had been built rather recently.  Along the way, the brothers give the three some tales and histories of the dwarves under these mountains.

Chapter VIII: Blacklocks and Stonefoots

Summary:

After being found by the dwarves outside their door, the party is allowed at once to enter the mountain where the dwarven clans of Blacklocks dwell.  The party begs them for their aid, and the lords of the Blacklock family are intrigued with their mission.  Mentioning the three other clans of the Orocarni, and one that is nearby the Blacklocks, the party splits so they can attempt to recruit them all.  Morinehtar, Elnuin, and Ossuri stay to plead their case and ask the Blacklocks and Stonefoots for help, while the other three traverse the mountains to meet with the other clans.

Chapter VII: Up the Anthaméuse

Summary:

After many years, the wizards decide that it is time to continue the quest to rally the forces of Rhûn. They gather a party consisting of the wizards, Khamûl, who is now much more aged but surprisingly alive and well, another man named Osurri, Elduin, and his son Elnuin. They traverse the landscape in order to find themselves closer to the dwarves of the Red Mountains. Elnuin once had spotted them during the Revival, and it gives the company a proper destination to head towards. They follow the Anthaméuse north for almost two hundred miles before finding the door to the house beneath the mountains.

Chapter VI: The Lāhorin Revival

Hello again all!

Chapter VI has been posted. Check it out at the links below! Here's a summary for this chapter:

A brief history of the years that the wizards dwelled in Cuiviénen. Knowing now that they could act as the protectors Cuiviénen needed, they would live there for several centuries. Their magical influence brought peace and prosperity to the Wild Wood, not just Cuiviénen. Khamûl returned to Minus Alu for a time and had returned with men to increase the relation between the two races, and teach them how to fight properly should their journey require numbers. Prosperity flooded the regions once more, as the elves began to venture outside the forest and converse with some of the Sindar and brought the language back. (A note is made about the world outside Rhûn, as the Rings of Power have been dispersed during this time and Númenor has started building permanent residences in Middle-Earth.) The Revival ends with the wizards finding the successors to their title of “protectors,” and begin to set out once more.

Side note: I was fortunate enough to see RotK in theaters last night. For someone who couldn't see it 20 years ago during its initial theatrical run, it was like a dream to see it on the big screen. Hope some of you were able to have your first theater experience with this movie too!

Chapter V: New Meetings

The next chapter in the Istari of the East series has been posted! Here's the summary and the links:

Garruil and Mélihera find that the wizards know much about their history they should not know, and give them a private audience.  The full lore of the Lāhorin elves is discovered through this council, and the wizards are able to prove that their roots are intertwined with the elves.  Here the wizards and men are able to build a strong and faithful relationship with the elves through their commonalities and knowledge of one another.  They negotiate a scenario that keeps the wizards here to act as the protector that Cuiviénen once lost and desperately needs, in return for their aid in the quest.
