Ephemera frowns a little; she hardly thinks it could be a case of everyone here being out to get them. Someone irritated enough? More likely.
"Hm, so they did." She muses, going for a more neutral response because honestly the ghouls shouldn't be taking anything either. "Ghouls can be crafty when they want to be. They're smarter than some people here give them credit for."

She's briefly surprised- he brought her here? Then this must be his office. That's why it looked familiar.
"N... No, you're fine." She pushes herself into sitting upright, pressing her hands to her face and letting out a breath before dropping them again. There is a noticeable difference in how she had been feeling before; less tired and more clear headed. "I'm alright... I think."
Her mind less muddled now, she tried to piece together how she had gone from the chapel to here. She thinks she remembered falling asleep. It had been a bit hard to focus because of-
Oh. The bite. The hazy sensation that had come over her. Perpetua's glowing eye.
Ephemera looks down to her wrist, the fingers of her other hand tracing over her skin for any evidence of a wound.
After some time to think it over and do some more research- checking in both the abbey library as well as Occult & Antiquities- Ephemera is once again thinking about the whole "possibly a vampire" thing. This wasn't her giving into any rumors, least that's how she saw it. No, she knew damn well that there were things out there, supernatural or hellish or otherwise. If her time with the Ministry had taught her anything, it was that.
She was able to find things here and there, information that made her mentally review the previous interaction between her and the current Papa. She only had the one encounter to go on- It wasn't like they crossed paths often to begin with- but that moment when he had gotten close to her...
It was still the image of the teeth- fangs most likely- that stayed stuck in her mind.
It's why she was now sitting in the chapel alone, mulling over a myriad of thoughts, torn between wary and curious. Open to believing that the same person who said such sympathetic words when she spoke of old rumors was also a vampire.
What was she to do with that if true?
(because in cany case she is not equipped to deal with vampires)
-Sister E.
Perpetua is lighting black candles in the back of the chapel when he spots her. A small figure sits in the pews near the altar. He can’t quite make her out from the back of her head, but… is that Sister Ephemera? The poor sister of sin he had scared half to death a while ago? He still feels a bit guilty for that, honestly.
He hasn’t seen her around much since then, so what is she doing now sitting all alone in the chapel?
The candle finally lights, so he puts down his tools and starts to walk over to her. His heels click against the stone floors, echoes bouncing across the empty walls. He stops outside of her pew, just within the bounds of her eyesight.
“Is there any way I can assist you, dear?” he asks, tilting his head at her curiously.

She watches, not phased by these dramatics.
"Look, if it's a case of someone just not liking you- can't win everyone, as they say. I know there's probably at least someone who doesn't like me either." She doesn't exactly comment on that last part directly, but does add, "Unless, of course, you pissed somebody off enough, though usually it's the ghouls causing trouble."

"Eclipse? Well, then welcome. Sister Ephemera is what they call me. You may hear Emery as well. And yes, this abbey truly is something...
"The ghouls? They live here too; summoned at one point in time or another. They do various work around here, a select few even are musicians."
Oh, are you a new Sibling here with us? I... don't believe I have seen you around before.
-Sister E.
Um….
Yes… I’m new here… Just got here a few days ago actually…
My name is, um… Sister Eclipse. This place really is beautiful… but what is it with all those… ghouls..?

Time is formless in sleep; meaningless. Like being in space where it makes no difference if it's day or night, except here it is being unconscious and the mind is adrift. In any case, held within this state Ephemera is unaware of much else.
Some time later but eventually, she does come back around. Slowly she wakes, a hand curling into a soft fabric and her eyes fluttering open. However, as her surroundings become clearer, she in turns becomes confused. She remembered being in the chapel before and wherever she was now was not that. This was someplace else, someplace familiar. This blanket laid over her too- when did it get here? When did she get here?
She turns her head to look around more, and that's when her eyes fall upon a familiar figure.
"Papa...?" Her voice rasps, sleep still clinging to her.
In a break from her work, Ephemera has nestled herself away in a random alcove to work on a cross-stitch piece. She wanted to make something for Samhain this year and she hasn't gotten to work on this particular piece in a while.

She only makes a small, sleepy sound in response, both to the kiss upon her head and the words that follow. It does the trick though, allowing her to relax further. It isn't long until her consciousness drops into sleep, the events that have unfolded here fading back into the shadows of her memory for now.
She does not dream, but she is at ease.

Some more fun facts for Ephemera:
-Conceptually, her name comes from the song Queen Ephemeria, by Saigon Blue Rain. Also her shortened/nickname of Emery was taken from a street sign I saw while driving around one day. Ephemera is also inspired by the character of Eris Morn from the video game series Destiny.
-Does cross-stich as a hobby
-Her favorite song that has been crafted by the Ghost project is See The Light, among some of the first songs she heard from it.
-She has a fondness for ballroom music, something like this or this. Sometimes, however she tends toward stuff like this or this as well, moreso when she needs something of a distraction, something that will allow her to lose herself for a while.
-On that note, she has totally listened to all of Everywhere At The End Of Time once because she could.
-Common pieces of jewelry you will regularly see her wear is a single earing with a small grucifix attached, a polished hematite band on the middle finger of her right hand, a bracelet of obsidian beads, and a necklace with a simple grucifix attached to it. Sometimes she fidgets with her jewelry too.

Fascinating. The more she knows, right? He has said he'd rather not make such an offering again, and she doesn't know at this moment how she would feel about doing it again. However, the more she learns, perhaps she can find ways to help in the future. She'll have to do some more research or see if he's comfortable telling her more about vampires. A direct source would be beneficial.
Ephemera nods at the question. She is tired and having her blood taken by him was more taxing than she had realized.
"I might be a little sleepy." She murmurs in admission. "Wasn't really expecting it to be... like that." She's sort of lacking the words to describe it, but maybe when she's more ckear headed she could. "If you're sure I can stay."
She says this last part, but she's already dropping her head to his shoulder, letting herself drift. Maybe on paper it's not a good idea to fall asleep in the presence of a vampire, but right now she's not scared. She's not afraid of him. This is just part of who he was. Besides, the sincerity of his words cause a pang of sympathy that makes her willing to look past it.
'If you can hear my heart now then you know it's alright', she thinks. It might be because she is tired, but right now she is calm.

It might not be noticeable, but her face scrunches up slightly in confusion. Why is he apologizing? And... Hurt her? But she's not- well, okay, maybe being bitten did count in its own way, but that had been her decision. She'd let that happen.
He's a vampire, yes, but there's still a person there underneath that. The care he's showing her now demonstrates that, and to her that means something.
"And you have mine." Ephemera mutters, able to tilt her head up now. Her wrist aches a bit but she's ignoring that. "I will not tell anyone of this, I swear it. Are you better now?"

She's coming out of it, bit by bit, though the sudden movement does help jostle her back to awareness. This whole process was a lot more than she was expecting. Then again, it wasn't every day she let a vampire feed on her. She'd never met one until now.
But she can feel arms around her, feel the solid presence of another body against hers. There's a hand in her hair too. That is... Perpetua, right? Has to be. Huh. Awfully nice for a vampire.
This time she is more successful in stringing a few words together. "Dizzy. Hazy." She readjusts in his hold, focusing on the feeling on her head. "So that's what it's... That was... a lot."

It's one of those occasions where Ephemera has music from a certain project on her mind. She hums one song quietly as she works, one of the older ones.

When she had agreed to do this, make this offering, she hadn't known what to expect. Perhaps more pain? Initially there had been that but it was brief. Right now she was left feeling rather... floaty, if she had to try and put a word to it. A side effect from having her blood taken from her?
She barely registers the fangs come out from where they had been sunk into her. For the most part, she had gradually relaxed, her breathing coming slower. Eyes fluttering, she's left in a daze as she stirs, and it takes a moment before she tries to lift her head up, able to catch a glimpse of something glowing- Oh. It's that eye of Perpetua's. It didn't always glow, did it?
Trying to gather her voice, she opens her mouth to say something, but her thoughts are disjointed. She lets her head fall once more, her hand finally letting go from where it had grabbed Perpetua's robes.
After some time to think it over and do some more research- checking in both the abbey library as well as Occult & Antiquities- Ephemera is once again thinking about the whole "possibly a vampire" thing. ((I do have a fic in my drafts that's mostly backstory for Ephemera during her time at the Ministry and idk maybe I'll post it here. Just selections because she's mostly contained to a verse of fics I have, but maybe having some selections here would be a nice little extra thing.))

Ephemera yawns and rubs her eyes for what feels like the hundredth time that day. She knows she did not sleep well the previous night, or the night before, and she's been dealing with the after effects of that all day. She's so tired...
But her day's not done yet. She volunteered to help in the gardens today after all.
