I’ve moved most of the muses over to the NEW BLOG at the same url. I have also moved Shouto and Bakugou there. it was nearly impossible for me to keep up with my blogs and I found that I was having trouble keeping track of mutuals when blog hopping so hopefully this fixes that! I will keep all of my threads but they’ll be moved to the new blog. I’m hoping this works out the way I want it to, but if not…fuck.

A HEADCANON ABOUT:  intimacy

throwing canon to the wind, let’s talk about Hawks’ view with intimacy. I joke a lot about Hawks being a fuckboi ( because he is ) but there’s an actual reason for that.

in canon, we see very little of Hawks’ backstory, but there’s one thing we’re positive: the Hero Commission has been training him since he was young. going off my headcanon that Hawks comes from a poor, loveless family, from parents who had a child and decided they didn’t want him after all, and then he’s simply...sold to the Commission.

it’s cold and lonely and Hawks is given next to no positive attention. if anything, what happens to him under the Commission’s guidance are horrible, unspeakable things. he is broken and trained and built up into exactly what the Commission needs: a soldier.

this is why he lashes out in his adult life. yes, he does make himself somewhat of a slut and he’s got the reputation to prove it, but he is looking for the only kind of affection he can get. yes, he knows realistically that the intimacy he gains from flirting and fooling around is fake and won’t last. it’s dirty and cold and doesn’t give him anything but a fleeting idea that he is cared about, but his own inability to open up about who he is or even let people see his real personality makes it next to impossible to establish an actual emotional relationship with anyone.

that’s why Hawks falls hard and fast for anyone who looks beyond the cocky fuckboy hero persona he’s built up, looks past the flirting and the jokes, and sees him. and if that ends up something good or bad, Hawks really doesn’t care in the end.

A HEADCANON ABOUT:  personality

Hawks is a master of masks and facades and more than anything, he has distinct personalities that he shifts between.

most people know Hawks as very easy going; he is loud and bubbly and easy to talk to. fans love his laid back demeanor and general brush off of normal ideals. he’s fun and quirky and he draws an audience no matter where he is, not even just because of who he is, but how he acts. it’s this fun-loving personality that interacts with fans on the streets and online, that makes itself known at casual hero events and outings.

many heroes have seen Hawks switch to what we lovingly call ‘hero mode.’ his hero persona is quick and strong, getting the job done before it can get worse. this particular personality is strangely serious and hypefocused unlike his normal personality; hero mode means he knows exactly what to do to get a job done quickly and efficiently, but leaves room to be desired for his empathy. he doesn’t wear a smile or put too much into emotion while in hero mode.

beyond that, people close to him can see that he’s also bitter. he is tired and angry, at the system that has used him since childhood, at heroes who have gone against their ideals, at everything that could’ve led to such a fucked up young adult. this side of him is less perky, filled with rage and resentment, burning embers of hate deep in his chest.

his most little known personality is his private one, which is somehow a mix of his fun-loving side and his bitter side. he is angry over all of the things about himself that fall short and even more over the people who made it that way, but he also has his weird side. his various hobbies and interests shine through when he’s relaxed, his interest in makeup or nail art are prominent when he’s relaxed.

she could feel the heat rising to her cheeks - and to think, she’d been doing well so far without blushing. while she liked going to clubs, she was usually in a corner table and people watching. the odd person would come up to her yes, but they were always drunk. never had she actually had a back and forth like this before. it was refreshing and a breath of fresh air compared to the usual. 

and really, this banter was the most fun she’s had in awhile. chin back on her hand, she bit her lip to keep herself focus and to not duck her head. ❝ is that an invitation to neverland? seems someone hit fast play. ❞ she purred back, tapping her fingers lightly against her glass. it was watered down by now but it was something cool in her hand.

          whenever  he  could  get  anyone  to  blush,  Hawks  usually  had  a  cheeky  feeling  of  a  job  well  done,  but  this  one  was  so  much  more  fun  than  usual.  the  unsuspecting  woman  in  the  club  had  clearly  never  been  used  to  someone  who  was  somewhat  sober  hitting  on  her.  it  was  nice,  surprising  people  like  this.

          ❝  what  can  I  say?  I’m  hooked  on  you.  ❞  he  stretches  a  wing  out  in  invitation  before  they’re  tucked  back  securely  against  his  spine.  no  need  to  put  them  out  for  strangers  to  touch.  ❝  I  wouldn’t  mind  showing  you  my  secret  grotto.  ❞

oh, he was so much fun in person than what she could ever image. and way more handsome in person as well. his photoshoots didn’t do him justice, at all. her eyes followed him, lips still curved into a smile. not very often she actually found anyone in a club that was fun. most of them were drunk and she didn’t need a repeat of someone spilling their drink on her. ❝ it does take more than a spoon full of sugar. ❞ she teased easily, sliding forward in her seat.

          ❝  I  will  say,  you  are  definitely  a  happy  thought,  ❞  he  purrs,  because  she  is  his  sole  interest  right  now  and  if  he  doesn’t  get  something  out  of  this,  he’ll  kick  himself  for  weeks  to  come,  ❝  because  you  are  clearly  the  fairest  of  them  all.  ❞

adding on what I forgot to that last headcanon, Hawks’s handwriting is literally chicken scratch, pun only partially intended. he can’t read, let alone write, so he ends up with handwriting that’s pretty much unreadable.

however, Hawks has impeccable memory and writes himself notes in something that resembles symbols ( insert joke about hieroglyphics ) that is his own sort of language, something he created in order to remind himself of things. placement and symbol order matter and it’s a more or less functioning handwritten language that relies on both the symbols written and Hawks’s keen memory.

so yes, his office is covered in post it notes that look like they’re a strange code written by the Zodiac Killer.

A HEADCANON ABOUT:  education

a very important and little known fact about Hawks is that he actually cannot read very well. Hawks does not have much past the government education given to him by the Hero Commission, and they were more concerned with his physical abilities than teaching him any notable skills.

because of this, Hawks has a very low reading level and can often struggle when being asked to read something with unfamiliar or awkward phrasing. topping this off, he does not know many kanji letters as that’s usually learned later in school, and he knows enough to get by.

while he certainly has improved after becoming a hero by interacting with fans online, Hawks’ overall education is quite poor. he cannot do complicated math, has trouble reading in certain styles of writing, cannot read English ( though he can speak it fairly well thanks to his part time modeling making him interact with some English-speakers ). he doesn’t know history practically at all and if we want to talk about his knowledge of science, no, he does not know mixing ammonia and bleach can kill you.

Hawks wants to learn things, but because of his expectation to be perfect, and with many of his casual flings or casual boyfriends/girlfriends, he is unable to bring himself to open up about his lack of education. only people who spend an overwhelming amount of time with Hawks would be able to say without a doubt that the dude can’t read for shit.
