Hell on the high seas
Ch1, ch2, ch3, ch4, ch5
A03
An: I got around to re-writing portions of this to add mita into it finally.
Tws(and other tags): s*xual as**ult, kidnapping, poorly written medical scenes, mildly ooc law.
Sanji promised to let her tag along on the way to a nearby island for a supply run. Riya had only just convinced her mother that she would stay by the docks once they got there, as it was on for a few hours. So, when her mother caved and said she could, she was more than excited, she would be confined to the water near the docks so she could still get a good look at the island.
So when the day came she'd quickly waved goodbye to her mother. Swimming up to the baratie, she grinned up at him.
Sanji smiled back from the small boat he sat in, reaching his hand down to grab the one she stuck out for him. He helped her up before giving her a towel, she wouldn't stay on the boat for too long, just enough to at least catch up with him- Sanji's been beyond busy lately.
They've still gotten to see each other but only long enough for them to share a meal on his lunch break. The restaurant was oddly busy, probably due to it getting closer to the end of the year, it was early November, so the usually fully suited blonde was now tightly wrapped in a thick fuzzy jacket.
"It's not long till your birthday right? Just two weeks?"
"Mhm! I'm excited, you know I'll be old enough to leave 'home' finally. " She giggled.
"You've been old enough for two years.”
"Yes but I can't leave a certain 'selfish man' just yet... I'll miss him too much." They smiled, staring at each other for a few minutes before Zeff called out to them.
"Get going, we don't have all day, we've gotta start prepping for tomorrow and we can't do that till you get the damn food!"
"Christ old man, don't get your panties in a twist!" Sanji sighed. "We're going! Jeez…"
"And give that poor girl a jacket! You've got two for a reason."
Sanji turned red at this and scrambled to grab the extra one he'd grabbed for her.
"Oh I don't mind Zeff, it gets colder than this in the water, and I live in that so I'll survive.”
"Just take it, please."
Sanji mumbled glaring down at his outstretched hand until Riya grabbed the jacket that he'd been holding out.
She hummed as she pulled it on, grabbing his hand before he could put it down and pressed a kiss to his knuckles. She heard a strangled whine from the blonde as she did this.
They set off after that, talking for a good while, about anything and everything, about Sanji's work, Riya's home life, how Zeff and even Riya's mom were doing- Sanji's only met her once in the seven years they knew each other.
That was after the first night that Riya stayed on the baratie. Sanji followed Riya outside with some food that day and gave it to her mom as an apology for making her worried about her daughter.
They continued talking and laughing until the island started to come into view, Riya gave a reluctant sigh as she pulled off the jacket.
"I won't take long, I promise- give me an hour tops, I'll get you something as an apology for making you wait if that'll make it better.”
"You don't have to get me anything Sanji. I've just missed you a lot these last two weeks, but an hour is nothing compared to that." She smiled, handing him the jacket before jumping into the water, she splashed Sanji on her way down and giggled at his now slightly damp hair.
"You are a brat."
Riya gave a full-on belly aching laugh at this, leaning up slightly she pressed a kiss to his cheek. “I know. "
She watched him go red as she swam away to keep herself hidden near the docks. She didn't know why her mom wanted her to stay in the water- if she was by Sanji she could remain safe, but she guessed it was just so she could easily escape if anything went wrong.
Unfortunately for her everything went wrong that day, she'd been near the shore for about 30 minutes, hidden along the dock when she heard shoes and footsteps coming her direction, she figured it was Sanji, maybe he came back early.
She was wrong.
Screaming as she was pulled out of the water, she kicked her legs and dug her feet into the ground at two men dragged her away from the dock onto a ship hidden further down the shore line, screaming the entire time.
Until one of them picked her up, covering her mouth as they dragged her up onto the ship and threw her into a cold small room.
She shook, her breath catching and her vision blurred. She let out a broken, dry laugh as she broke down, her whole body curling in on itself as she cried.
She sat in that room for weeks with a few cabin boys bringing her food now and then. Some of the crew would fill in and torment her, pick at her scales, tear them off or just simply threaten her.
She barely slept, she spent most of her time thinking of a way out and silently wishing for somebody to save her. There was a single window in the room, but she couldn't open it.
It was as if it was welded shut, so she sat staring out across the vast water, immediately cowering in the corner the moments somebody stepped into the room. Her skin prickled with anger any time somebody got too close.
It wasn't until one of the older men in the ship stepped into the room that things went too far for her to properly handle, her anger and defensive act couldn't fend off the guy. It was clear as he sneered at her.
Had she had a better sense of mind she would fight but she glared as he spoke to her.
"Pure luck we found ya, ain't seen a siren round this sea in years. Oh, ain't ya cute, you'll fetch a nice price."
"I'm not your fucking toy!" She hissed, her pupils dilating in fear as he growled, stepping forward he slammed the door.
"Don't fucking talk to me like that! You're property now, and you've no say in this so unless ya want that tongue of yours cut out I'd bite it if I were you!"
"Touch me and I'll feed your dick to the dolphins." She didn't know where to stop, she figured they could be intimidated but what could she do? Not shit, that's what.
She knew she'd fucked up now.
He grabbed her by her neck, back handing her with the other hand before he shoved her to the ground.
"You wanna use your mouth to back talk the only man keeping you alive then I'll teach ya some bloody manners!"
He tore at her clothes as she struggled.
She was screaming at him not to touch her but he didn't listen. She cried- cried as he tore at his own clothes pressing her down into the ground she resisted as he violated her.
Her heart broke as she thought back to Sanji who was probably worried sick, or her mom who no longer had her lover or daughter.
She wailed, struggling beneath the man. Her heart couldn't take this kind of pain, she was a strong woman but this was too much, far too much for her.
She tried to pull away as he grabbed at her legs, tears staining her cheeks, her eyes darkened as if a sense of grief had just struck her so harshly.
She went slack after that, no responding but still fully conscious, aware of everything that was being done to her even as the man grabbed her face to make sure she was still alive, she didn't look at him, just silently cried and shook in fear.
She heard him huff at her, mumbled about how he wouldn't let up on her punishment even if she obeyed now, she felt her brows furrow but she didn't speak- it was as if she couldn't.
The last thing she remembered was him chuckling at her before she blacked out, her stress getting the better of her.
This went on for months, the tormenting, the abuse, everything- she couldn't handle it. She was losing her mind, the amount of times she tried to escape only for them to catch her before she could even make it off deck, if she could jump overboard she could get away just fine, but they wouldn't let her anywhere near the water.
They knew how much faster she was in the water than they were, it gave a small sense of pride knowing they'd never catch up to her if she did escape.
But it washed away as the cycle started over again.
The captain had been coming to the room more and more. The things he did to her were things she never wanted to think about again, but at least there was one guy on the ship- a cabin boy nice enough to help her after the captain had his fill of taking whatever anger he had out on Riya's body.
Young boy, jet black hair he seemed nice but he was still a bit of an ass, she preferred his company to the others.
She heard them the other night teasing the boy telling him to just buy her if he wanted to treat her so ‘princessly’. She heard the names they called her. It was clear they were drunk, she could hear the music and the clinking of tankards.
She hated this godforsaken ship and she'd get off of it if it was the last thing she did!
But she never did.
More months passed, she was sure it'd been over a year at this point going through this, her sanity wavered more and more each day. It wasn't until one of the younger crew members were untying her so they could take her onto an island for ‘auctioning’ that she found a sudden courage, breaking away from him.
She bolted out the door of the room, immediately slamming into the captain's back.
As he turned she shook, fear lighting her nerves on fire, he sneered and reached to grab her.
But the scream she let out made him waver, such a loud piercing screech it even hurt her own ears.
The water under the ship shifted and a loud rumble sounded as the whole crew surrounded her.
Then the ship plummeted under the waves, debris floating up, as some of the crew did too, floundering about for a piece of wood to hang onto. When they untied her they were still a few days from an island, so if she kept going in one direction she might make it to one.
She didn't know but what she did was that either the grand line would be the end of her, or she'd find help.
So she swam, tears clouding her vision in the water but she swam, swimming for weeks, stopping occasionally to pry open a clam and eat or to rest but she still kept swimming.
Until she swam straight into a net, she panicked, her heart hammering in her chest as she was pulled onto a deck, the ship looked like a yellow vessel… a submarine probably? She didn't have time to think it over.
She hissed at a white bear pulled her up, he stood shocked as she glared at him, she heard him call for someone, a distinct name that made her tense up.
“Uh… captain!”
She struggled under the net, looking up she saw a jolly roger, pirates! No, please! She just managed to escape with her life and what little mind she had left, please not again!
Her chest tightened as tears began streaming down her face, she tried tearing herself out of the net as a man in a yellow hoodie and animal print hat came into view, she saw the door open as he stepped out.
Behind him followed a woman, one with ears, soft and white, a long tail flicked behind her. She instantly locked onto the siren, staring down at riya, her gaze shifting to her tai and finsl “what is-”
The man gave the bear a curious look before he turned, his eyes widening. “How the hell did you catch a fucking siren, Bepo?”
“I didn't know she swam into the net and now she's freaking out!”
“Get her some blankets! And clothes!” He ordered as a few other people came onto the deck, a few of note were the two with hats, one with an orca hat on the other one that read penguin on it.
There also seemed to be another woman.
She didn't have time to worry about the rest of the crew.
The guy that had ordered them around started approaching her and she tensed, glaring at her and she bared her teeth.
“Is she wild?”
“No she… looks hurt. I need the check up room sterilized while I bring her in, she needs to be patched up.”
“Don't touch me!” She cried her whole body shaking and she tugged at the net, she watched as he carefully pulled it off her.
Squishing herself against the railing and nearby wall she tried to make herself smaller. But, she had no fight in her- not anymore. She was tired and mentally broken at this point.
So even if she struggled she couldn't find it in her to break from his grasp as he picked her up and carried her into the ship.
“We can't stay out in the open for much longer, we'll have to submerge for now. And you will have to calm down- I’m not here to hurt you, I’m a doctor.”
“You're a Pirate.” She seethed, her voice cracking as she spoke. “I can't- I can't stay, you're pirates- you'll hurt me!”
“Would you just-” he grumbled, setting her down on a chair in a big white room. It smelled funny, like medicine, but not the kind on Fishman Island or even Aurora’s.
“Sit still, your cuts are infected and your clearly malnourished. I need to clean you up and get some food in your system.”
“N-no please-”
He sighed. “Here, how about I introduce myself so you at least don't have to worry about a stranger taking care of you?”
She fell silent, hesitating as she looked him in the eyes. She saw no malice in his gray orbs so she silently let it be. She nodded, tears falling down her face again.
It seemed like she was somewhere safe- she hoped she was, she couldn't handle another situation like that again.
The guy sighed, grabbing some tissues and handing them to her. “Trafalgar Law, I assume you've been through absolute hell, haven't you?”
She nodded. “Riya… Seaheart.”
“Convenient last name.” He hummed trying to at least lighten the mood. But, he was awkward about it- he was always with new people.
The door opened and in came that woman with ears, she had a few things on her, gloves and a few things wrapped in a clothes “the tools in here haven't been sterilized yet since penguins incident earlier but the ones in the operating room are, shachi sent me to bring them to you”
“What happened to you?” Law slipped on some gloves and Riya watched him grab the cloth from the woman “thank you mita” he hummed. Mita smiled and nodded, hesitating as she turned to look at the siren
Riya visibly flinched when she saw the needle and threads that were pulled out of the cloth “You don't have to waste your supplies on me!” She panicked, quickly shifting away from him.
“We need to get you patched up, those wounds are gnarly. Don't worry though law's probably one of the best surgeons on the entire grand line” mita hummed as she left the room
“Try not to scare the poor girl though!” She called out as the door behind her closed
“i need you to relax, you tense and this'll hurt even worse.” He grabbed saline and alcohol, sterilizing the needle just Incase and cleaning her cuts.
Riya winced, a whimper of pain leaving her as the alcohol stung against her wounds. “I know it hurts, but it'll help the healing process. I still want to know what happened, but I won't pry.” She relaxed at that, mumbling a soft ‘thank you’ in response.
She tried not to watch as Law cleanned and stiched some of the wounds that weren't healing right. The scar along her stomach had long since gotten infected, and it was a miracle that it hadn't killed her or even done too much damage to her body. She was lucky she managed to find some help or that help found her.
As he helped her lay down, she had to bite her own tongue. The needle piercing the flesh of her stomach hurt and it hurt bad, but she's been through worse, she'll live. ‘Just don't think about it! Don't think about it!’ she screamed in her head.
It was an hour of just stitching wounds and wrapping them, of Riya flinching and holding in yelps of pain, an hour of agony that felt like an eternity.
When he was done helped her up steadying her as she stumbled.
“We should get you some food. We were just in the middle of preparing for lunch.”
She silently nodded.
“We'll have Ikkaku give you a spare uniform, you look to be about the same size.”
She silently followed him, going into the room Ikkaku led her to after Law had handed her over to the woman. She was thankful for her help in putting the boilersuit on once she'd found a spare one.
The question she was asked tho she wasn't to happy with but it was understandable, there was a complete stranger in their ship- one that would probably be with them until her wounds healed. The questions made sense but they made her uneasy, and she was at a point where she didn't wanna think about anything. She'd barely slept for the past few days, she just swam.
Swam as far as she could- this was the first time in the last few days she wasn't in full blown panic mode.
But she was delirious. Tired, hungry, and delirious.
And the bear she saw as she entered the common area didn't help that. She was convinced she'd been hallucinating when she'd seen him earlier, just some sort of side effect from the sleep deprivation but when they acknowledged him and introduced him as a mink.
She quickly realized she was wrong. At least he was soft- he seemed nice too, though so did most of the crew.
She had to assume the woman with ears and a tail was half mink then. She'd heard of minks, knew they were real, but half minks were rare, she'd only heard of mention once. And that was Aurora's mother.
Their captain on the other hand seemed quite reserved, the only emotion other than whatever this neutral one he outwardly showed was one of slight concern, but he was a doctor so that was probably normal.
Ikkaku led her to a table. She sat down and watched her go grab two plates. “I guess it's a good thing we made a little extra today.”
Riya didn't respond.
She'd long since lost interest in speaking, she simply nodded in acknowledgement.
Ikkaku set the plate down for her and then sat beside her.
Mita sat on the other side,
The two guys with the hats on from earlier sat across from them, Law and Bepo joined them as well, Law beside the guy with the orca hat and Bepo across from him. The table was quickly becoming crowded, but there was enough space between seats that she wasn't being squished and for that she was beyond relieved.
They quietly sat, poking at her food and listening to the others as they talked. Ikkaku didn't speak much until about halfway through lunch. She turned to Riya. “You're pretty far from Fishman Island- what brought you away from home?”
She took a moment to respond.
Sighing, she took a bite of the food on her plate, swallowing before she spoke. “I'm not from Fishman Island, I grew up in the waters just outside a fishing island, I never learned the name of it...”
She went back to picking at her food before pushing it aside. “I'm sorry, I just… I'm not hungry.” she mumbled, tears in her eyes.
Mita turned to her, astonishment on her face, like she couldn't comprehend someone not wanting food
“You're in a new environment, it's understandable that you'd be too stressed to eat. Here, since you're injured I need to be able to keep an eye on you. There's a room across from mine you can stay in until you've healed properly.”
She stood. Legs shaking and head pounding, she was overwhelmed and her brain was lagging far to behind as law spoke “I'll bring you something again in a few minutes to try and get you to eat again, you might just need some rest.”
She didn't follow. She hesitated- she wanted to leave, she didn't want to stay here, she wanted to go find Sanji. To leave and just never return, but she didn't know where she was and that scared her….
“I…. Have a few questions….”
Law turned and waited, silently telling her to ask away.
“Where…. Are we?”
“Just outside of Berapava. If you mean in general, we're on the Grandline trying to get to Sabaody.” He then turned and started towards the hall.
Riya quickly followed, wincing as the stitches on her arm snagged along the inside of the boilersuit.
“If you're healed by the time we get there you can leave, if not you'll have to stick with us until you're better. ”
“But I- I need to leave, I need to find Sanji!”
“Sanji? You mean black leg? The one with the straw hats?”
“You know him?!” She felt her whole being fully relaxed, any bit of worry she had was lifted from her shoulders, clearly he knew Sanji that means he was okay! Right?
“No but I know of him.” He stopped, opening a door for her. “Why? Do you know him?”
She nodded. “I… got separated from him a year or so ago back in the North Blue. I've been trying to get back there

The blonde chef
Ch1, ch2, ch3, ch4, ch5,
A03
An: I honestly still think the entirety of this was such a cute chapter to write. I kinda giggled while re-reading through this
Riya stared up at the boy on the walkway in amazement as his blue eyes stared back, she stayed there frozen in place until he spoke up
"Why are you.... In the water?" The blonde walked around the railing before coming to a small platform, he knelt down and reached out his hand.
"You'll catch a cold"
"I- I can't leave the water... Mom will get upset"
"Why?" He gave a curious look as she shifted under his gaze, she ducked slightly lower in the water before reaching a hand up to tuck her hair behind one of her fins.
He lit up at that. "Are you-?"
"Not fully, mom's a siren, my dad... Was..n't" she hesitated, regret flashing in her eyes.
The boy frowned at that, still holding his hand out. “I see. Well, do you want some food? I'm not supposed to cook yet but I'm sure the old man will get over it."
Riya glanced back, looking to see if her mom was watching, she saw nothing so she turned to the blonde boy and smiled. "Sure! I'm actually kinda hungry so.."
"Do you have any allergies? Or is there something you don't eat?"
"Fish..."
He looked shocked- it was as if he'd just heard the most absurd thing in his life. "You don't-"
"No, not usually. I don't like the taste.”
He nodded before standing and turning to the door on the side of the fish shaped ship... 'It was such a weird looking ship...' she watched as he disappeared behind the door, hearing a splash. After that she turned to see her mother.
She was disappointed, that much was obvious but she didn't scold her, she just sighed. “Are you okay?"
"I'm fine momma, he just offered some food, I figured since I rarely eat fish it couldn't hurt to have something I will eat. "
She shook her head at that before smiling. “Do you even know his name, how can you trust him so easily?"
Riya flushed red at that, looking back towards the door as she thought, "He seems so nice.... He's got the same eyes dad did...."
Her mother paused at this, a soft look of sorrow filling her eyes, she sighed. “You're old enough, I trust you to know who you can trust but I'm keeping an eye on you two- I don't want you getting hurt.”
With that her mother left, the boy returned a few minutes afterwards. He came with a bowl in his hands, and set it down on the dock in front of her. It smelled amazing, golden noodles sat in the bowl with some ham and an egg sliced in two, she watched as he set a pair of chopsticks down on a napkin. “It's ramen. I wasn't sure what all you might eat but it's not fish so..."
Riya grinned at him. “Thank you! It smells amazing!" She took the chopsticks and quickly took a bite of the noodles, a pleased hum passing her lips, she swallowed before she spoke again. “It tastes even better, thank you so much!"
The boy blushed and looked away with a grin on his face. “It's fine... Don't mention it.”
He was cute, she'd later learned the boy's name was Sanji, in return she'd told him hers.
They had a routine after that: Riya and her mom would travel with the baratie, her mom keeping a close eye on her anytime she went up to the ship to talk with Sanji during his break, he'd offer her food, they'd talk and then once people started showing up during rush she'd leave and come back at night, he'd sit on the dock for hours just talking with her.
She'd learned he'd wanted to find the All Blue, and she told him she wanted to study plants. She grew to adore him in such a short time, he was sweet and her adoration only grew over the years, eventually she gained enough courage to leave the water, shaking as she finally stepped up onto the wooden platform, softly asking for his assistance.
It's been years since she used her legs to stand on land, so she had to hold onto the edge of the railing near the walkway just to keep herself steady as Sanji handed her a towel. He was so red in the face, she couldn't help but giggle at him as she wrapped the towel around her, the night air was freezing so he offered to take her inside and let her dry off. She didn't hesitate to accept, she spent years wondering what inside the ship was like, and at least now she'd get an answer.
He held the door open for her and as she stepped inside, her eyes were quickly drawn to a large man with blond hair and a long braided mustache, it apeared that he'd been carrying plates to some backroom away from the room with tables. He stopped, looked at her, then looked at sanji and sighed.
"Take your girlfriend up to your room and then get your ass in the kitchen, we don't have time for your antics, little eggplant.”
"Excuse me?! She's not- i-" Sanji was redder now than he was outside, and Riya laughed as the two argued in front of her. Her hand grazed Sanji's arm and he froze, glancing down at her, then smiled. He lead her up to his room, letting her get comfy as he offered her a change of clothes.
"I doubt anything of yours will fit me but sure."
"At least take a shirt, something with long sleeves will keep you warm if you get cold."
She laughed out a "fine", taking the dress shirt from him, she stood and let the towel fall, slipping it on the small top she had on already.
He left after that, promising to return shortly after, and he did but while he was gone she got the chance to look around his room. It was a cozy room, painted a soft shade of blue, the bed was super comfortable, and she felt like she could take a nap right there. Honestly, that was exactly what she did.
Sanji returned an hour later, not wanting to wake her up just yet he let her sleep as he got ready for bed. He yawned as he sat on the edge of the mattress, gently shaking Riya's shoulder to wake her up. “Hey, I'm sorry to wake you, I didn't mean to take so long. Do you wanna stay here for the night or does your mom need you to go 'home'?"
She shook her head. “She's fine, she knows I'm usually with you at night, so I’m sure she won't mind. If she's worried she'll come get me, she usually does."
"Oh, is that why you always disappear after I come back from closing?"
"Mhm," she hummed sleepily.
Sanji stood, walking over to his closet he grabbed some blankets. “I don't wanna make you sleep on the floor, so you can have the bed."
Riya sat up at that, giving him a confused look. “It's your bed Sanji, you shouldn't have to sleep on the floor."
He just shook his head and made a pallet by the bed. She knew she wouldn't be able to convince him to just sleep beside her- he could be strong headed like that sometimes. Something about him being chivalrous, he'd mentioned it before, she never understood what he meant.
She curled up under the covers as Sanji turned the lights off, leaving the small lamp by his desk on. “I'll cook you some breakfast tomorrow before we open, you can come watch me cook this time," He chuckled and she responded with a soft hum, dozing off shortly after.
She woke up the next morning to mumbled arguing, opening her eyes. She saw the man from last night grumbling at Sanji, who glared up at him from the pallet he sat on.
She shifted and they both fell silent, waiting a few moments before they started talking again.
"You're seventeen, eggplant- who you chose to date is your business I'm just saying, don't be an ass, I taught you better than to treat a lady poorly.”
"Why would I- listen. I don't have time for this. I promised to make Riya breakfast so can I just get ready in peace, old man."
"Fine, but I'm serious." He sighed "Also, you're on waiter duty today."
"What?! Why?"
He glanced at her and made eye contact before quickly looking away. He glared at Sanji. "Just hurry up, you know what time the restaurant opens."
Sanji sighed as the man closed his bedroom door, standing he looked over at Riya, his eyes widening as he realized she was awake. "Shit- I'm sorry. Did we wake you up?"
"I... Don't know? I think I just woke up on my own.” Riya yawned as she sat up.
"Well, I’m sorry that you had to listen to that. Anyway, I'll be right back- I should go get changed, there's some pants on my dresser that might fit you, I put them out last night." Sanji hummed as he left the room.
Riya slipped out of bed, rubbing her eyes as she made her way over to the dresser. She quickly slipped her shorts off and changed in the pants, surprisingly they fit perfectly.
She heard the door open as she was fiddling with the buttons.
"Do you need help?"
She heard Sanji snickering behind her.
"Shut up. I’m not used to buttons." She huffed.
“Here." She squeaked as he turned her around, helping her with the buttons on the pants before he fixed the shirt she had on. "Come on, I've got an hour and a half before I have to help open, so we've got to get some food in you before then."
She followed him out of his room and down to the first floor. As they stepped into the kitchen, she watched as people shifted around each other, watched as everyone seemed to be making different foods, Sanji turns and chuckled.
"Food prep, we didn't have time to prep last night so they're doing it now. I have to help right after I finish cooking you something."
"Are you sure you're allowed to do this- shouldn't you just go ahead and help? I don't wanna be the reason you get in trouble."
He laughed at that as he made his way over to a station. “A little too late for that sweetheart, I’m already in trouble
Though, I did it to myself." Sanji rolled his sleeves up and reached into a nearby fridge, grabbing something before laying them out on a counter. “I can't make anything fancy right now, so are eggs and bacon okay with you?"
"That's perfect, Sanji. Everything you make tastes amazing anyway.”
She watched as he got to work, scooting up onto one of the unused areas of the counter, her legs gently swinging as she waited. "What made you want to be a chef?"
Sanji paused, the piece of bacon in his hands dangled as he looked at her. She saw the torment in his eyes, and she quickly realized it was probably a painful topic. "I'm not asking for your life story just... Why you wanted to do this." She gave a gentle smile.
He smiled back, laying out the bacon on the pan, he took a moment to regulate his thoughts before he spoke. "I used to cook meals for my mom when I was little. Before I left home, I decided I wanted to be a cook.” Sanji fell silent after that, lost in thought before he blurted out, “Why do you want to be a botanist?"
"I knew a princess when I was little, just a few years before I came to the North Blue. Her kingdom was gorgeous, and she taught me about plants, so I ended up loving taking care of them.”
The smile Riya gave him was nothing short of blinding, Sanji stared in wonder as Riya rambled.
"Plants are very fickle.... The conditions for each plant vary so much, I loved learning about all of them but...." She paused, suddenly aware of just how much she missed Aurora and playing in the royal garden every day.
"I left before I could learn anymore from her or the books in her library, so I decided once I'm old enough to, I want to travel the world and learn about every single plant out there."
There was a comfortable silence that followed, and Sanji cooked quietly as he thought of what to say. He finished cooking the bacon and had already started cooking the eggs when he finally spoke.
"You know... As much as I want to go find the All Blue I don't think I ever will. I owe too much to Zeff to leave yet, and I don't think I'll be able to convince myself when I'm older to go.”
Riya smiled. “You're a sweet guy, Sanji."
"A selfish one too," He chuckled, his face turning a soft pink as he spoke.
"Why do you say that?"
"I take up too much of your time. You're sixteen- you could be traveling by now, yet you stay.”
"I stay because you're my friend and I'm not ready to say goobye to you yet."
He turned to her, his hand grasping at her cheek, swiping along the different colored patch of skin just under her eye. “And that's why I'm selfish, I never want you to say goodbye, but you'll have to eventually."
She leaned, glancing down at his lips. Sanji did the same, their faces just a breath away before a loud cough sounded from beside them. They quickly separated, both bright red. Riya looked off to the side, tightly gripping at the counter as Sanji turned and glared at the old man from earlier that morning.
"Finish cooking then start on the onions. We don't have time for your romance shenanigans, Sanji."
"They're not shenanigans, old man."
"Just hurry up,” the man grumbled as he walked away.
Sanji finished up the eggs, asking if she preferred them scrambled or not, she said she had no preference and he plated the rest of it before handing it off to her, handing her a fork from the drawer. She ate in silence after that before she said goodbye, changing out of the borrowed clothes and handing them to Sanji before she went back into the water. Promising she'd see him that night, she swam off after that.

Her story begins
Ch1, ch2, ch3, ch4, ch5
A03
An: yeah I finally got around to cross posting this 😓
She didn't remember much from her early years, but she did remember that she grew up just outside a fishing island, hiding in coral under the waves with her mother until she was three from then on for the next few years she spent her life on that island living with her father as if a human, and while she was partially that, she knew she was anything but normal, the kids would pick on her for her ears, though they were fins, she didnt care- she rather liked them, her mother had a matching pair hidden under wet pink hair that just barely peaked out, she loved her mother she played such a important role in her life after her father died at sea, she still remembers her mom taking her away after he set out, she remembers her crying face as she came back one day, she was six when he died, and though she struggled to cry over him, she mourned for her mother, mourned for the loss of that smile that would brighten her day
they started a journey out of the grand line after that, it was a year after her dads passing when they came to a kingdom, the smell of flowers, dirt and wildlife, and the years she spent there, sneaking onto the island and into the castle to play with the young princess was something she loved doing, she was thankful to the maids that never forced her to leave- apparently the Princess didn't have many friends and she had just been brought the news of her engagement to some Prince from a far off land.
She never met said Prince atleast for a while but when she did it wasnt pleasant the only good thing she remembered was this one boy. Blonde, much smaller the the other three boys. He seemed nice but with the way he looked at her it quick caused his brothers to bully him.
Her attitude and anger got the best of her and she spoke out of turn causing them to turn that anger towards her. It was after that visit that she started to not trust humans as much anymore. Though dhe still trusted rory even after the prince's stop showing up.
Not long after the prince's stop coming she was informed of her mother's departure from the kingdom, like riya, the princess did not cry even while her mother was still alive yet unlike her she didnt mourn, for her father felt no sorrow in seeing his wife leave, it was later she learned that she'd ran off with a pirate, she'd been sitting in the royal garden with Aurora when the princess spoke up about it
Riya sat on the ground, sifting through the flower beds. She'd grown to love flowers in just the time she'd been here, Aurora sitting beside her on a blanket to keep her dress from getting dirty- much to the relief of the royal seamstress who'd almost been sent into a panic when she first saw the princess on the ground. She sat with a book in her lap, glaring at the pages before sighing and closing it.
"If you hate reading that much you could always just stop."
"I don't, I can't focus."
"Why?"
The princess sighed. "Do you ever wonder if mom's happy living the life of a pirate?"
"She's a Pirate!?" Riya exclaimed, something akin to misplaced wonder lighting up in her eyes. She'd only ever heard bad stories from her mom and some of the servants around the castle. she only remembered a few stories that her father had told her about pirates. thankfully she still remembers the story of Gol. D. Roger- apparently he'd been executed just two years before she was born, and she still wishes she could have at least seen the guy.
"Did I not tell you? Yeah... She left with some guy, wrote dad a letter and everything. I'm glad she's gone, she was a horrible queen and a worse mother...."
Riya stood, dusting herself off as she saw tears prickle the Princess’ eyes. She was quick to hug the girl, pulling her in. Aurora buried her face in her neck. She did not cry for her mother, but she cried for her years spent being tormented by the foul woman. She cried for her people who no longer had to deal with such a tyrannical queen, and she cried for her dad who no longer had to deal with the woman he was forced to call his wife.
Riya spent the next few months of her life running around the castle grounds with the princess, she spent her days with the Princess but she had off days when she would worry for her future. About the boy she was to marry. About her turning out like her mother She spent those nights comforting the princess. It was clear her father wasn't aware of just how mean those boys had been the few times they visited, she was glad that they wouldn't be back anymore, not for a few more years.
She still remembers her tenth birthday, her mother's terrified face as she stumbled into the kingdom. She remembers her grabbing her, saying something about a slave ship and that they had to leave, she watched from her mother's shoulder as the princess stood just barely getting Riya's mom to stop so she could hand her something. She didn't remember much else after that, just the feeling of the water around her once they got to the docks and left, they never returned to that island, nor did they stop and any others for longer than a month.
Her mother had grown to be paranoid after that, and they continued their journey for two more years- half of which they spent in a calm belt avoiding sea kings as best they could. They ended up in the East Blue after sneaking onto a ship once they'd made it to an island, to which they snuck off at the next port and went back to hiding in coral after that. There were a few times she'd nearly gotten caught, snagged by fishing hooks that she'd swam too close to. Her mother's panic as she pulled them out hurt her worse than the hooks ever did- she hated seeing her mother so paranoid and worried, but it was clear that the life of a siren had taken its toll on her. life outside fishman island had slowly destroyed her.
riya never strayed far from her mother at least she didn't until she saw a strange ship overhead, curiosity got the better of her and she swam to the surface, immediately coming face to face with a blonde boy that stood on the small walkway attached to the fish shaped ship, it was then that her life would change, that boy would become her whole world and she didn't even know it yet.

A captain's betrayal
An: I wrote this when I first got into epic the musical, showed @azuzur it and then went insane so have a little fic I wrote about our op ocs if they were in epic instead of the actual characters for them odyssey
Tw:just... Everything- mita kills people, sword fighting, blood, friends fighting. Uh stabbing? Character death
He stood there in the blood covering the ship's deck. Ear pinned back as he stared down at the mess, mita turned toward the sea. Not addressing his crew just gazing off into the distance. He could see Ithaca, in his heart he was home. He was holding law and himari.
A broken sob ripped him from his thoughts. He turned, blacky was kneeled down holding a piece of pink cloth, tears streaming down her face
Oh…. That's right.
Reiju had picked up one of the torches one of the men had dropped, and she got caught in the crossfire of scylla’s feast.
“Tell me you did not just let her die!”
The fox stood glaring at him, doubt and fear in her eyes
“You… you didn't just sacrifice our friends, My lover! MITA TELL ME YOU DIDN'T PLAN THIS”
“I CAN'T OK?!”
Blacky’s eyes widen before rage filled them “The hell do you mean you cant?!”
“There was no other way… I didn't intend for her to die but we wouldn't have made it through scylla's lair had somebody not died…”
“somebody?! mita we could have found another way! We could have figured something out! Now Reiju's dead and it's your fault!”
“What do you want me to say?! I didn't plan for her death! I didn't want her to but she picked up the torch! Be glad your not gone! After all, I sacrificed the men who helped you open that damn bag!”
He growled anger bellowing in his chest as he stepped forward “speaking of…”
His voice grew dark, blacky backed up ears pinned back and tail bristling as she snarled, baring her fangs at mita
“Had you listened to me we would have made it home the first time, had you not opened the bag we wouldn't be here, FIVE HUNDRED MEN! GONE! DEAD BECAUSE YOU HAD TO BE SELFISH!”
Mita snarled deep in his chest, watching as blacky drew her sword, mita did the same, raising his arm and pointing the tip of the blade towards her
“Nobody would have died if you had listened to me! we could have gotten past poseidon! we could be back in ithaca but you're too stupid to listen when given an order!”
“Why should I listen to somebody who would trade the life of his own crew just to see his husband again?! You wanna call me selfish? Look in a mirror cat!”
Their swords clashed, fighting and screaming at one another, it didn't take long for mita to overwhelm blacky and over power her, bigger build better reflexes, but he let his guard down, his senses filled and overwhelmed with the blood rushing through his ears. He hadn't heard someone sneaking up on him till their sword was plunged through his ribs.
He coughed, sputtering up blood as tears picked his eyes.
“Why…. I'm just trying to get us…. Home”
Everything grew dark after that.

Anger and guilt
Ch1, ch2, ch3, ch4, ch5
A03
Summary:Mita awoken his devil fruit abilities just a few weeks ago. Things have changed, he doesn't feel like himself and everything he looks in the mirror, he spirals. What's the cause of this?
Why has the heart pirates once strong half mink cohort suddenly started going.... Insane
An:Actually enjoyed writing the ending to this chapter when I first posted in on A03 so enjoy that, it's sickeningly sweet
(also shout out to @azuzur again for once more doing amazing art for this chapter and for yet again letting me use his oc in my silly fics?
Tw:mild arguing, small mentions of blood but not heavily present past a certain point, mita threatens penguin. Mita being an asshole again. Law being ooc. Idiots that suck at feeling(mita and blacky) mentions of attempted murder.... Again.
Penguin pulled him up off the floor. Mita did not respond, he just stared down at his bloody hand.
“Mita, are you ok?”
Mita’s entire body shook as he stood on unsteady legs. Barely any strength in him as he looked up at penguin
“I don't know… I was… i walked in and then i was on the ground”
As he spoke, penguin noticed the blood dripping from under mita's bangs.
Moving the minks hair he was horrified to see his scars had somehow reopened
His first instinct was to call for law but in an instant mita was covering his mouth with an unnatural amount of strength behind his grip.
His claws dug into the skin on penguin’s face
“Don't ”
Penguin shuddered before nodding
“Fine, just let go. Damn”
Mita did. And then his knees buckled. Penguin quickly caught him and helped him towards the infirmary
“I'll go grab some bandages”
“Don't bother. It's not deep.”
Penguin gave him a weird look before rolling his eyes
“Are you trying to fucking die?”
Mita snarled at him, Ears pinning back as his tail bristled
“No! I'm trying to be left the hell alone! Im fucking fine penguin. mind your fucking business!”
The other man scoffed before turning
“Fine but at the very least have law look at it. Scars reopening isn't normal. For all we know you could go blind in that eye again”
Mita glared at him as he walked away and then a noise startled him. Shifting to the other side of the doorway he leaned in and looked into the infirmary.
His blood ran cold.
Wiping the blood from his face he watched blacky struggle to speak… to sing like she used to..
His eyes drifted to the bandages around her neck.
What kind of monster does that to their sister in law? To their friend..
Leaning against the wall he felt tears stream down his face. He did that. He was the monster. He had no right to call her family. To call her his friend.
Even if he didnt mean to, he still hurt her…
The whole crew would be better off had they left him on that damn marine ship.
Maybe they would have executed him.
He sighed and as he turned to walk away he heard law's voice
“Stop standing in the doorway and come in already”
Mita froze. Ears pinned back and head held low. He pushed the door to the infirmary open. Not daring to look up. Something in him told him to keep his head down for fear of the disapproving gaze he might find.
Standing there he felt a shift. Someone hesitantly stepped towards him. And then he saw tiny paws. He felt his heart shatter. In an instant he was on his knees
He grabbed himari and pulled her into his chest. He felt her flinch and that only broke him further.
Law came over and squatted down.
“She's not hurt. Just shaken up and scared, I know you didn't mean to do all that to her. To try and harm her. But for now” Law sighed. He didn't want to say this. He knew it would make mita feel worse but he had to protect his daughter. Their daughters
“I can't let you be near her without either me, maki or one of the others around just incase” Once law fully looked at mita he saw it. Blood on himari's shoulder from where mita had his face.
He carefully pulled himari from the minks grasp and lifted the cat's bangs
“How did- your scars reopened”
Mita felt her gaze on him in an instant. His blood, already cold, now grew icy.
Pushing law away, he growled “i’m fine… just had an accident”
“Like what clawing at your eyes again? Mita that isn't normal”
“Don't argue…”
They both froze.
Mita's gaze met blacky's. Her voice was raspy and strained. Barely above a whisper when she spoke
Law tsked and gently picked his trembling daughter up “you need to talk to her, by the way. Your not leaving this damn room til you do”
Law was pissed. Mita could feel it in the way he glared.
“And since you won't let me help with that at least bandage it so it doesn't get infected”
Mita didn't say anything as law left, just walked to the cabinet and grabbed some bandage wrap. Silently wrapping it around his head and under his bangs.
He didn't speak to blacky. Didn't look at her again. He just stood there once he'd finished dressing his wound and seethed in silence
He heard shuffling and turned his head. Blacky tried to stand on unsteady legs. She was pale. Clearly having lost a lot of blood and still recovering from it. Mita dropped the bandages and rushed to her
"sit. You shouldn't be up”
“You're one to talk…” her voice strained
He felt guilt flood his senses
“blacky i-”
She simply covered his mouth and shook her head. She didn't blame him. She knew he didn't mean to…. But it didn't change anything. Mita shoved blacky's hand away. As he glared at her.
“For fucks sake dont just forgive me! I almost killed you! I almost killed my fucking daughter and my best friend. My fucking sister in law!”
Her ears dropped. Reaching up she covered her ears. He stood back. It took a moment to realize he accidentally used his fruit, thankful it wasn't his new abilities.
His eyes burned tho. Were they red again? Blacky sighed and patted the empty space on the bed. He reluctantly joined her. Sitting on the edge. Elbows on his knees
“I hurt you… had you not knocked me out I would have killed you…”
“It wouldn't be the first time someone tried to take my life.”
His blood ran cold. He knew she'd had many people after her head before. But this was different, he almost succeeded…
“Except they never got close enough to truly injure you”
“Mita-”
“No! I don't care if you've been hunted by bounty hunters! This is diffrent! We almost lost you once and now… I almost killed you. I don't want to be forgiven for that!” He snarled. Baring his teeth at the fox.
He could see her anger flaring as she snarled back
“Grow the hell up you stupid fucking cat! I don't give a shit if I almost died! We're pirates, you idiot! Just living the life we live Means we almost die on a daily basis!”
He stood. Tail flicking as he turned and walked towards the door
“Doesn't mean what I did wasn't wrong. Regardless of if i meant to or not”
He left after that. Anger and dread circled his mind as he wandered the halls of the tang. He returned to his and law's room late that night. Unable to sleep but not willing to walk through the halls of the tang for another hour.
He hesitated in the doorway.
Law was in bed with a book. Glasses on and the lamp on his bedside table illuminating the room. He looked up as the door closed
“It’s almost three….”
“Yes I'm aware, mita.”
“I thought you'd still be in your study”
Mita made his way to the dresser on his side. Slipping off his feather coat and shirt then Changing into the old hoodie law used to wear. slipping out of his pants as he sighed.
“You still have that old thing?”
“Of course I do. I have a lot of fond memories from when you used to wear it”
“Saobaody was not a fond memory”
“Oh piss off Trafalgar”
Law chuckled “finally out of your mood i take it?”
“No… just tired…”
“Mita-”
He bared his teeth “don't. start”
The deep growl mita let out had slightly shocked law. Mita wasn't a growler… he hissed and yowled when annoyed but growling?
Almost unheard of for the cat.
He let it go. Simply shrugged and raised his hand in defeat
“Fine. But we need to sit down and talk about this eventually”
"Just… not right now”
Law nodded and picked the book up from his lap. Setting it on the nightstand with his glasses before turning toward mita. He raised the cover as he slipped into bed.
Law barely let him get settled before he had him pulled into a tight grasp.
“Law for fucks sake- let go!”
“Nah im good”
What?
“Nah?”
…..
“Dork”
“Nerdy cat”
“Oh piss off” mita laughed and snuggled into law chest “You’re such a child”
"Rich coming from you”
Law mumbled into mita hair pressing a soft kiss to his head as mita drifted off.
Law laid there awake for a few more hours before he drifted off too. Mind too distracted and racked with what ifs and whys. He had many concerns and many questions. But he couldn't get the answers to any of them without pissing mita off.
The scars of the harm he caused, too fresh in the cat's mind to try and talk about healthily.
Law would have to find another way to get his answers. He drifted off around five. Still racking his brain for ideas but too exhausted to stay awake.

"I'm sorry"
Ch1, ch2, ch3, ch4, ch5
A03
Summary: Mita awoken his devil fruit abilities just a few weeks ago. Things have changed, he doesn't feel like himself and everything he looks in the mirror, he spirals. What's the cause of this?
Why has the heart pirates once strong half mink cohort suddenly started going.... Insane
Tw: mentions of blood again, mentions of (not intentionally) attempted murder, mita is a warning in of himself. Mita being an asshole. Mita's consciousness returns for more violence.
It was like he was watching a movie through the foggy haze of his mind, he watched himself fight his best friend. watched as he almost attacked his own daughter and injured his husband. And then everything went dark the moment he went flying across the room
The last thing he saw was red…. And white, silky white
Waking up he felt a pain shoot through his entire body, but he felt peace for the first few moment of his delirious consciousness and then it hit
Jolting up, he could already feel the tears cascading down his face, and as he looked over he could see law tending to very pale blacky.
Mita hesitantly looked down and a shudder ran up his spine
He still had blood on his claws….
A barely contained warble left the mink as he stared in horror at his hands
“Oh god no no no…”
Law looked up as he secured the bandages over blacky's neck. Carefully and almost fearfully the captain made his way over
“Stop crying”
Though his words carried no fear
They were cold almost unforgivingly so
“Captain, I'm sorry… I didn't-”
“Didn't mean to?”
Mita paused
“Yeah i got that, you were mumbling in your sleep”
Law balled his fists up, anger radiating off him.
The captain grit his teeth and pulled his gloves off before throwing them at the wall
“Fuck!”
He grabbed his head almost as if he had been the one to lose his mind
Law screamed
“What the hell was that?!?”
“I don't- captain i didn't mean-”
“Accident or not you almost hurt himari! I know… god i know you didn't mean to but fuck! Mita what the hell happened to you?!”
Law rambled clearly frazzled
“You went sulong! since when could you do that?”
“HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!”
that anger was targeted at him now as if he was mad at the mink for keeping some sort of secret but truth be told mita had no clue
Mita stared at law and out of the corner of his eye he saw the infirmary door open
“Now, now captain, leave the cat alone. Look at the poor thing he clearly looks terrified”
Law glared at the kitsune, she only grinned back slyly as her tails fluffed up almost proudly so for annoying the man in front of her
Those three tails then swayed as she turned towards mita
“Maki i-”
“No need, i know… your sick, your fruits killing you from the inside out”
Law tensed and so did blacky, but law was the only one to look mita in the face “it's…. What?”
“the himei himei no mi, or the… cry cry fruit has never been fully studied but in my… 300 or so years of life I have seen what it's done to minks and half minks alike before”
Mita looked down… he knew where this was going, he new what maki was about to say and it scared him
“For minks it will simply kill them to awaken the fruits power, as it would most users, there have been exceptions tho, considering half minks are partially human there is a slim chance for the user to survive albeit with little to no sanity, and those that do…” maki sighed as she turned from mita and law
She made her way to laws desk, sketching out something on a blank piece of paper as if to try to and distract herself from her own words
“Most will be driven mad… in mita’s case he's one of the rare ones to survive, but awakening that fruit has forced him to awaken another part of him….”
She was scribbling more aggressively now
“I've never seen it before, a half mink going sulong is unheard of…”
“What's going to happen to him” law practically growled
“If he can get his awakened abilities under control he'll be able to use those powers almost as a trigger to activate his sulong form, without a full moon. It won't be something that can be used constantly but the cry cry fruit is very good at being one of the more powerful fruits even in it's base state”
“And if he doesn't?”
________________________________________________
Mita stood outside on the tang’s deck. Bandaged hands white knuckling the railing as he glared across the blue sea
The door to the tang opened just as the mink coughed, blood covering his palm
He heard Maki sigh.
Annoyance flickered through him, not towards his sister but towards the fact he had the nerve to yell at her in the infirmary earlier
“I made you some tea… it should help subside the effects for a few days, it won't completely stop them… but the blood will lessen”
“I don't want it”
“If you no going to drink it then I'd suggest checking in on blacky…”
“She won't want to see me… she thinks i'm a monster… i saw that ting of fear in her eyes when she finally looked at me…”
“You're not a monster, grow a pair already and go talk to her”
Mita growled and turned towards his sister, glaring at her he nudged his way past her
“you say that but you weren't the one that hurt the people you loved… all you've done in the last 200 years is watch your friends die before you”
Maki stared wide eyed at mita as he walked into the tang, shutting the door behind him
Mita sighed, anger bubbling and fizzing out as he made his way down the halls of what was practically his metal coffin at the point.
He would sooner let his fruit kill him then allow himself to hurt someone like that again…. It would be best considering his own daughter cowers when she sees him.
He was a monster.
Monsters deserve to die
Suddenly he was back
In that mist standing face to face with himself….
His feet were free, but the sludge still lapped at his fur, his tail sticky with the black liquid clinging to him.
“Monsters like you shouldn't be born”
Mita whimpered as his other self stepped towards him, grabbing him by the neck with razor sharp claws
This form had more fur on it then mita normally did
He could see its hand had fur…. Did it… grow that?
“This is what monsters like you deserve”
He watched as it lifted it’s other hand, claws at the ready before they slashed at him
Penguin rounded a corner, he was doing a routine check up on the pipes in the upper half of the tang, but something caught his attention out of the corner of his eye
Mita was doubled over on the ground, claws digging into the flooring of the tang hard enough it left large scratch marks on the floor.
But something else was wrong….
He other hand was covering his face… and as the mink pulled his hand away crimson red dripped past his fingers

Waning control
Ch1, ch2, ch3, ch4, ch5,
A03
Shout-out again to @azuzur for letting me use his oc in my completely self indulgent fic. Go look at his blog, his art is awesome and he deserves the world. Love ya you silly French man (/platonic)
Summary:Mita awoken his devil fruit abilities just a few weeks ago. Things have changed, he doesn't feel like himself and everything he looks in the mirror, he spirals. What's the cause of this?
Why has the heart pirates once strong half mink cohort suddenly started going.... Insane
Tw:more mentions of blood, mita being a warning in of himself, married men who still suck at feeling, friends fighting, depictions of violence, poorly written fight scenes,
He stood by the harbor on Aurora's kingdom, while the queen was happy to let them on the island without any issues or the marines getting involved; her people didn't seem too happy.
He felt the glares of fishermen and dock workers, their eyes boring into his back.
The dark haired man's ears pinned back.
“Dammit penguin get the fucking sub over here im tried of being looked at like a walking freakshow”
Speak of the devil and he shall come…
The tang surfaced in front of him.
Shachi had convinced law to explore one of the surrounding islands to Rory's kingdom. And considering the green haired nit wit that stepped out of the tang and onto the harbor beside him it was the one used as a garrison base for the army yonji was in command of…
“Vinsmoke…. Why didn't you just take one of your own ships?”
The larger male grinned down at him “your crew was coming over anyway, figured I'd hitched a ride”
Mita sighed as he stepped onto the deck of the tang, slowly making it towards the door
“You bugged the shit outta law til he caved and let you on didn't you”
“I was half tempted to cut his tongue out, for a grown 32 year old man he sure doesn't know how to shut the hell up”
Mita’s ears perked up, and he turned his head a little too late. Slamming into law’s chest.
Ow...
Not much else came of that…. The tang didn't submerge; it seemed law was content to get fresh air while they moved away from Rory's kingdom.
Mita stayed out on the deck, he felt nauseous and clearly the captain could see that. law took the bags mita had on him and went to put them away in the food storage.
The mink started coughing. He leaned over the railing of the tang, retching up blood.
His head was pounding and the sound of the door to the tang opening only made it worse.
He was to busy coughing his insides up to turn and greet the woman making her way over
“You reek of blood the hell have you been doing on Rory's isla- mita?”
The soft footsteps of the fox's feet stopped behind him. She reached out and before he could stop himself he whirled around, blood dripping down his chin as he knocked her back
She flew a good distance away. She landed on her ass. Fur frazzled and bristled in confusion
“FUCK WAS THAT FOR YOU DAMN CAT ?!?”
blacky growled at him, the fur on her ears and tail standing on end. The fox looked up at him before her eyes widened in shock
mita stared down at her, red eyes just as wide, he himself looked shocked as if he hadn't intended to do that.
And just as another coughing fit happened the door to the tang slammed open and out ran bepo
“I SMELL BLOOD!”
his eyes locked on mita, double over coughing
“Mitts?”
“I'm fine po…”
“The hell you are, idiot, you're coughing up blood!”
Blacky's growl did little to still his frazzled nerves and growing annoyance
he glared at the fox hissing out a warning
“DROP IT !"
just as bepo and blacky's ears rang mita hit the deck, the last thing he heard was bepo yell for law
He woke up in the infirmary again but he had no strength to move not even as he heard the sigh of his lover
Law stood, agitation radiating off the older male as he tossed papers on the bed next to the one mita was on
“Are you gonna keep doing this until it kills you?!”
The mink flinched but didn't move to sit up or even look his captain in the face he just laid they unmoving
“Mita for fucks sake with the amount of blood youve coughed up you'd think you have tuberculosis! What the hell is going on?”
“It's my devil fruit…”
“What?”
Mita shot up, his annoyance sky rocketing
“Its my devil fruit open your fucking ears law!”
Mita balled his hands up into fist and with barely contain strength he punched the wall leaving a dent in the inner walls of the polar tang
“i should have known! kiva warned me! He told me his fruit came with a risk! Not just from being hunted by the government but its awakened abilities could kill the user….”
Law felt his whole world shatter as he stared at mita
“Then why did you…”
“I couldn't let the marines have it! It was the only thing other than that damn scarf I would have had to remember him! So… I ate it…. Thinking I could control it but…”
Mita sighed
“evidently I'll just pay the price for being so stupid in the end”
“You're not gonna die! Not if I have a say in that!”
“And what the hell are you supposed to do about it law!? You couldn't save blacky! What good is trying to stop my own devil fruit from killing me when you couldn't stop the virus from almost killing her!”
White…. So white
It was like a flip switched and right before laws eyes mita changed
Hair as white as snow and far longer than normal, his tail had changed too, much like mita's hair. His tail was long as well, no longer fluffy and round. It was spiky, and flowy…..
This… this wasn't mita…
Before he could react his daughter came barreling into the room but as soon as she laid eyes on mita she screamed. That seemed to set something off in the mink and he lunged at her
Shit-
“ROOM SHAMBLES!”
law was in front of him for a split second before he was sent flying through the infirmary rooms metal door
Was this really the man he married?
Was this the same man that he raised himari with?
It couldn't be and yet-
Mita was crying
His eyes held nothing but horror in them.
It's like he didn't intend to do this…
Mita almost looked scared..
“Sorry… sorry sorry sorry”
He was muttering….
And just as mita lunged at him blacky came and blocked him
“What's gotten into you? Since when could you do this?!”
The fox looked mita up and down to clarify what she meant but mita couldn't respond beyond his muttered apologies
Mita swiped at her, claws barely missing her as blacky kicked him, sending him back
Blacky yelled at him, screamed for him to get his shit together but he couldn't hear her, her screams fell on deaf ears as mita punched her,
Blacky stumbled then lunging at him
“blacky just knock him out!”
Mitas claws tore through blacky’s neck, clawing away the hidden tattoo under her shirts high collar.
That didn't do much to deter the woman, she knocked mita back so hard he hit the wall of the tang
Everything went black..
Law stood, stumbling slightly, he was still disoriented from being thrown through the metal door
It's been awhile since law felt any form of fear like this..
How did mita go sulong? Why?
Law picked blacky up as she hit the floor, setting her in one of the infirmary beds, he did the same to mita and went about bandaging blacky's neck…
It was gonna be a long night on the tang…

… And the Beast (Yonji Vinsmoke x Reader) Epilogue
Synopsis: You thought your little crush on Prince Yonji was a well-kept secret. Yonji is mean enough to exploit your eagerness to please in the face of his unrelenting cruelty; the thought of actually developing a soft spot for you never even crossed his mind.

Part I Part II Part III Part IV Part V Part VI Part VII Part VIII Part IX Part X Epilogue
Many weeks later, Ichiji’s singular ship docked at the coast of a remote island. He flew to land alone, deeming the rest of his crew unnecessary for the mission at hand.
It was hardly a flashy island, mainly comprised of mountains and rolling fields. A modest cottage tucked itself at the base of a hill by the coast, backed by greenery with a view of the ocean. It was a pathetic, if not disgustingly quaint, tiny home decorated with vines. What looked to be a garden grew abundantly in the front yard.
And when the blue flames of Ichiji’s levitating boots touched down on solid land, his brother was waiting for him. Yonji stood a distance away from the house, arms crossed and patient as he watched Ichiji land.
Yonji appeared to have traded in his royal clothes for a simple white tank-style shirt and even simpler olive green, knee-length shorts. His overall frame hadn’t changed much. Yonji’s arms appeared fuller than ever, and the way he held himself hardly signified he had even missed so much a day of fighting, much less months of it. It was, at the very least, one way in which Yonji’s fixed genes continued to present themselves. Although Ichiji wasn’t entirely sure to what extent they still functioned.
“You changed your hair,” Ichiji commented, coming to stop in front of his brother with a slight frown on his lips. “It looks lighter.”
Yonji unconsciously ran his hand through his shortened hair. He had really chopped it, keeping it short all the way around, though not excessively so, and just slightly bit longer on top. The color was still distinctly green, but the roots were far lighter: blond, if Ichiji had to put a name to it.
“I’d like to think that you’re only here to talk about my hair, but knowing you, I feel like you’re here on business,” Yonji asserted with a broad, cocky smile. He was as boisterous as ever. Yonji moved his right foot pack, crouching just slightly to assume a fighting stance.
Ichiji frowned.
“I’m not here to fight,” he said, his expression as even as ever, “No point in wasting the effort.”
“Dad’s already given up?” Yonji’s brow scrunched as he stood upright, taking the words at face value. He scratched his temple. “I thought for sure he’d at least want a body for confirmation. Finding a double for me ain’t easy, I hope you know.”
“After this long search, it was easiest to conclude your disappearance.”
“You didn’t think you’d have this hard of a time hunting me down, did ya, Ichiji?” Yonji snickered. He waved a hand in Ichiji’s direction. “So, if you aren’t here to bring me back, what now?” Yonji arched a brow. “Ya sure you’re not lookin’ for a fight?”
Ichiji’s nose crinkled, the crease barely noticeable on his perfect skin.
“I wouldn’t insult myself or my time.”
With a swift motion, Ichiji plucked something from his breast pocket, flicking it over to Yonji. Yonji caught the item without batting an eye, his arm raising almost mechanically.
It was a green canister, labeled '4' on the outside—Yonji’s raid suit.
“You’ve gone soft. Germa doesn’t need a weak-willed excuse for a soldier like you. From here on out, consider yourself dishonorably discharged from Germa 66,” Ichiji said as if delivering rites. His short monologue was devoid of any expression. And yet…
Yonji inspected the canister, snickering to himself with a bob of his brows.
“Shiiiit,” he cooed, glancing up to return his attention to Ichiji’s stern face, “You’re just as soft as the rest of us.”
“It’s almost like you want me to drag you back.”
Yonji scoffed, giving a playful shake of his head.
“Nah, I think I’m good right where I am,” he said.
And for just a moment, Ichiji took the moment to observe what sat in front of him. Yonji with his lightning hair and civilian clothes, the little house in the background— that, now that he looked at it, boasted a door that was a bit taller than standard— and the stretch of green that ran on in the background.
Yonji looked abnormal and out of place, and yet, there was an odd sense of truth to what lay ahead of Ichiji. In a way, Ichiji had never seen anything like it.
“Yes,” Ichiji conceded, turning on his heel, “It does seem that way.”
Ichiji didn’t spend a second more on solid ground, immediately igniting his hover boots to take off into the sky. But before he could fly out of earshot, Yonji shouted after him,
“Don’t go around makin’ it obvious you’re a softie when you’re king!”
Ichiji turned, still posed mid-air as he gazed back down at his younger brother. Yonji laughed, a wide grin plastered on his lips as he waved. Ichiji frowned once more.
“You’re dead, Yonji,” he called back, “Make sure to keep it that way.”
That was all Ichiji said before he flew off.
Yonji smirked, hands on his hips as he watched his brother disappear into the sky. He glanced down at the canister in his hand, shaking his head as he began to walk back toward the cottage.
Yonji opened the door, and the alluring smell of dinner greeted him. You stood over a cutting board.
“I was away for one minute,” he frowned, immediately approaching to shoo you away from the prep station. He took the knife from your hand, wasting no time in making short work of the vegetables in front of him.
Not all the skills that Yonji picked up in Germa were exactly transferable. Firearms? Not all that useful in civilian life. Deflecting bullets with his bare skin? Even less useful. A mind for war tactics? Only valuable for beating you in games. But his knife skills served him well. In fact, Yonji took quite a bit of pride in them. He was even better with an axe and a few logs.
“I wanted to help while you were talking,” you hummed, finding something else to do in the kitchen.
Yonji inhaled, eyes rolling toward the ceiling. He pondered there a moment, his lips contorting.
“… Thank you,” he said curtly, breathing out as he did.
“Hey, that was a good one!” you exclaimed, accenting your praise with a sharp swat that landed between Yonji’s shoulder blades. Damn, you were getting stronger. “You didn’t look like you were in pain that time.”
“Oh, shut up,” Yonji scoffed, his free hand pushing you playfully by the side of your head before he resumed chopping.
“I’m surprised Ichiji left.”
Yonji glanced up from his work, studying you as you gazed out the window. He moved the chopping board to the hot pan on the fire stove, using the side of the knife to brush the vegetable pieces into the pan.
“What? Did you think I was going to invite him for dinner?”
You didn’t respond, continuing to watch the horizon. Yonji placed the knife and board on the counter, approaching you slowly. He tracked your gaze to the singular ship sailing away in the distance.
“Hey, c’mon,” he said softly, playing a hand on your shoulder. “You gotta take over from here. You know I don’t know what to do when it’s hot; I’m just the hunk who chops stuff.” Yonji gestured to the stove with a bob of his head.
You turned toward him, glancing nervously from Yonji, then to the window, and back. Yonji frowned at your expression knowingly.
“You don’t ever even think about going back—?”
“No, I don’t. Hot food. Hurry it up,” he scolded, corralling you to the stove. Yonji placed a wooden spoon in your grasp, and when you opened your mouth to complain, he covered your hand with his, stirring your dinner around the pan himself using your like some sort of puppet. His other hand held yours to the pan’s handle. “You gotta take over because I don’t know what I’m doing.”
The spoon was making a ring shape in the middle of the pan. The edge of the wood passed through the empty ring several times, doing very little to actually stir the food that sat on the hot surface.
“Yonji, you know why I’m asking—”
Bits of vegetables spilled over the side of the pan, dropping onto the stovetop.
You leaned your head back onto his chest, staring up at him.
“What did Ichiji say?” You nudged him. Yonji’s eyes cast down at the snow peas that fell out of the pan.
“Honestly, not a lot,” he muttered, his eyes glazed over with thought.
You turned your attention back to the hot food in front of you. Despite having taken over the stirring— or “the cooking part” as Yonji preferred calling it— Yonji continued to grasp your hands. Every so often, you would feel a bit of resistance where you wanted your hands to move versus where he absentmindedly guided them.
“He said that he wouldn’t be back to bother us,” Yonji finally said after a few moments. You continued to focus on the task at hand, only humming quietly in acknowledgement. “Well… he didn’t say it outright, but… I know that’s what he meant.”
Yonji gingerly let you go as you moved the pan off the heat and scooped a small bite into the spoon. You raised it to him, your other hand hovering below to catch any bits that might fall off.
“But you’re not worried about him coming back. You’re not worried about Germa,” you said, your assumption stated more like a fact. An air of certainty puffed up your words, and Yonji vainly took credit for your creeping confidence. At least, that’s what he always thought to himself.
He plucked the spoon from your hands, setting it down and moving the entire ensemble off the heat. His fingers brushed the fire, and Yonji didn’t feel any pain. Yonji placed his hands on either side of you, bracing them against the counter.
“If you ever—”
You cut him off, pulling him into a kiss by the front of his shirt. And even as you pulled away, Yonji’s nose brushed against yours. You kept your hand tangled in the front of his shirt. You let a moment pass, feeling the heat of his breath against your skin.
It was just still so new. Even now.
“I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t,” you breathed, eyes still closed as your hand ventured up to brush through the hair on the back of his neck. “I’m not a servant anymore. I would tell you.”
Yonji let his head fall to rest on your shoulder. His fingers brushed against the side of your arm, almost as if you would break if he weren’t careful. Yonji let out a light chuckle, his oversized figure vibrating with the motion.
“We have got to stop asking each other if we want to go back to Germa,” he laughed, rising back to his full height in front of you. You laughed with him.
“I am sorry that I couldn’t save your mom’s book… You know, in the end,” you smiled almost sheepishly. Yonji’s expression softened, but quickly reverted to his usual cockiness.
“I think you read it enough times that the both of us know it by heart anyway,” Yonji smirked, maneuvering out of the way as you portioned out your dinner. “Though, not everyone can have memory storage in yottabytes.”
Germa didn’t come up for the rest of the night. A cozy fire warmed your cottage, and smoke drifted from your chimney. You read a new book after dinner, Yonji’s head rested in your lap as you absentmindedly played with his hair.
"Hey," he breathed, just as you were beginning to lose your breath. His voice shocked you out of your story-induced daze. Yonji sat up, pivoting at his waist as he laid a hand by your hip, his face close to yours. "I couldn't really tell you what love is... I'm still figuring that shit out real slow, but... if I had to guess, I'd have to wager that this—" He glanced around at your shared home, never leaving your proximity as his eyes returned to yours. —"Is pretty goddam close..."
You couldn't help the grin that contorted your lips and made your face burn.
"I think you're right," you whispered against his lips.

Notes: Aaand that’s a wrap. After 60k+ words, I’m very glad that I was able to see this series though. It was easily one of my favorites to write and I’ve appreciated every inch of support along the way. If something comes to me, I’d really love to do another project with Yonji or the Vinsmokes in general, but honestly just finishing a single project is a huge win for me. Who knows, maybe I’ll write for Law next. Below are a few details from the story that I wanted to include but couldn’t find space for.
Misc details for the obsessed:
Even after Judge’s rejection to let you serve the kingdom, you boarded a boat as a stowaway anyway. The cook— I named him Walker right?— found you and later helped integrate you into Germa. Although it didn’t take much effort considering. The two of you have been closer friends since.
The repaired book burned up in the fire? Or does Ichiji still keep it stashed away. I don't think I ever decided but I forgot to put it in the story anyway.
Yes, Yonji did know your birthday. Much like in The Force Awakens where Kylo Ren knew Finn’s stormtrooper number and profile seemingly off the top of his head, I thought it would be a fun detail for the Vinsmoke brothers to also happen to have a surprising foundation of knowledge about their help. Because they process information at a superhuman rate, it seemed natural that they would know everything about their home. It also explains why in canon Niji knew Cosette by name.
I had a sub plot in mind where there would be a flashback to Judge and Sora bonding in the library in their youth. I had originally planned an interaction where Yonji and Judge fought and Judge saw himself in his son, but Judge didn’t end up being as important to the story as I planned. It also saved me a flashback!
I have a theory that Judge’s gene experimentation wasn’t as revolutionary as he thought it was. Reiju, for example, was able to have her emotions nurtured. While she was more of a “prototype” to him, in this story’s canon, nurture beats out nature. The Vinsmoke brothers experience other emotions, after all (anger, pleasure, frustration, joy). I think that you really shattered the narrative that Judge pushed onto Yonji and his brothers. I think they all know, to some extent, that Judge’s experiment wasn’t as thorough as each of them acts.
This story can be read as before or after Whole Cake. Despite the dialogue about pirate alliances, it’s ambiguous as to whether it’s before or after Sanji’s forced wedding. In another ending of the story, Yonji sends you off with Sanji, knowing that he can’t protect you in Germa.
In another ending of the story, Ursula confronts you in the tower and sets fire to the annex. Ursula wasn’t originally going to be a character, and rather the climax of the story was going to be brought on by the Judge and Sora connection. Her father, King Neptune, isn’t the king of Fishman Island, and rather an oversight that I forgot King Neptune was a real canon character. You know… because Fishman Island is such a forgettable arc.
The outfit that Yonji got reader was an ao dai. Ao dai can be worn my men, women, and everyone in between!
#screaming crying throwing up#absolutely feral even#i love the way you write yonji#im so glad they got the ending they deserve#ren's rambles#ren's reblogs#HOWLING#AAAAAAAAAAAA#sorry i loved this series so much im both happy and sad about it being over#please write more yonji stuff wing i beg of you

Made my night to read this while trying to cross post stuff onto here. Thank you wing, hope you're having a good day or night wherever you are. I finally finished the epilogue of "and the beast "the other day, I'm frothing at the mouth over It. I'm so glad they got a happy ending omg-
I know this is kinda idk stupid maybe? But I wanted to thank you in advance and say that and the beast has been one of the best series I've read yet, Every time you upload or update with a new chapter to it I get so excited and it's all my friends hear from me for a week is me talking about you fic.
I haven't read the recent chapter yet mostly cause I'm procrastinating but thank you. If it wasn't for you writing this I wouldn't have had the courage to post my own fics, granted their not x readers but still. I wouldn't be writing the one I have now that revolves so much around germa and yonji if you hadn't posted those first few chapters for and the beast. So thank you for giving a fellow fic writer the courage to actually put stuff out there.
💚💜
Not stupid in the slightest. I think it's the highest honor to know that this work inspired you. When I originally posted, I was really convinced that it would be purely self-indulgent and that I wouldn't get many readers on the work. But I ended up gathering such a wonderful community because of it.
Thank you for sharing not only with me, but thank you for sharing your works. I wish you the best of luck with your creative endeavors.

Uneasy dreams

An:shout out to @azuzur for making the drawing used for this chapter! (At the end of the chapter)
Summary: Mita awoken his devil fruit abilities just a few weeks ago. Things have changed, he doesn't feel like himself and everything he looks in the mirror, he spirals. What's the cause of this?
Why has the heart pirates once strong half mink cohort suddenly started going.... Insane?
Tw: body horror? Mita's conscience tries to kill him. Minor mentions of blood. Attempted drowning in a way, (Law will remain ooc sorry) nosebleed.
A silhouette stood before him, long white hair, a pair of ears just as white, pointed. Perfectly matching their tail. Eyes that were no different from the ones he saw in the mirror that morning.
Those were the only things he could make out and yet… he knew
This was-
Mita startled awake
It was noon now, no longer did the dim orange rays of the morning son cast its light along the tang.
They'd been docked near an island since last night, rarely did the sub ever surface nowadays so this was a nice change.
Though mita wasn't allowed out of the infirmary to enjoy the sun's rays.
He didn't even have to look over to ask law if he could do so.
The hardened glare he felt settled on him was enough to know. He wasn't leaving that bed
His lap felt heavy…
He looked down.
Himari was curled up against him napping, half her tiny body sprawled over his lap
Mita sighed, ears pinned back as he looked up at law
The Captains gaze softened once he locked eyes with him
“They're normal again…”
What?
Mita cocked his head to the side, slightly confused, he ears going lopsided to further prove that point
“They're yellow again”
His eyes widened before he looked away as if shame suddenly overtook him
“The red comes and goes”
“Why didn't I know about this sooner?”
“I keep my head band over my eyes for a reason”
“I'm surprised you still have that old thing”
Mita let out a soft laugh
“Ah right… I had it back before the transition… when I could barely see…”
He smiled
Law frowned
“You should have told me”
“I didn't want to worry you captain…”
“I worry about you enough as is, what's a little more?”
Mita sighed “I should…”
“Rest? Yeah, i'm not sure if you've fully recovered from this mornings cough fest and i don't wanna risk another blood splatter on the floor”
With that mita simply nodded, picked himari up and held her close to his chest before he finally laid back down
Maybe his daughter's presence would fend off the unnerving dreams he keeps having….
Oh how wrong he was
His dreams didn't get any better
Mist surrounded him
A inky black sludge lapped at his ankles, it was hard to move his feet. As if he was chained there, as if something was grabbing his ankles and threatening to pull him under the sludges surface he started down in horror at the liquid under his feet

A white light shined just in front of him. Distracting him enough to cause him to look up.
There it was again, that silhouette.
This time it looked just like him, it had his face. And it looked pissed.
Before he could react it lunged at him
He couldn't scream
It shoved his head below the inky liquid, he choked trying not to inhale any.
“theres no stopping the hell youve brought on them”
Mita's head pounded, his lungs stung and his eyes burned.
This thing was trying to harm him….
He was trying to harm himself..
It pulled him from the ink before throwing him, it screamed at him, the words sounded muddled, illegible, and distant.
He hit the inks surface before he was pulled under
The ink surrounded him as he struggled
Trying to pull himself out of its dark slimy grasp.
The last thing he saw was the silhouettes face…. No.
His face.
Mita startled back up again.
Gasping and coughing, blood dripped from his nose and tears cascading down his face
Law jumped from where he sat.
He was beside the infirmary bed reading, and as he looked over, mita could see the fear and worry in his eyes…
“You weren't kidding”
He paused for a second but was to busy trying to catch his breath and calm his heart beat to comment and ask him what he meant
Luckily law explained anyway
“They flashed red for a second”
The captain sighed and stood up, making his was to a nearby cabinet and pulling out some tissues
“You could rival black leg-ya with that nose bleed”
Mita did not respond
He'd zoned completely out. it was as if mita wasn't there at all.
He seemed like a shell.
Had mita not jumped when law started wiping the blood from his nose and lip he'd have thought mita was nothing but a husk
“Are you okay? You startled pretty hard when you woke up”
“I… think so”
“What scared you?”
“It’s dumb”
“Dumber than my sister? Or do you just not wanna talk about it”
Mita looked away, ears drooping to the side as he did
Law pulled away and tossed the tissues away “fine… i won't make you explain”

Changed faces
ch1, ch2, ch3, ch4, ch5.
A03
Summary: Mita awoken his devil fruit abilities just a few weeks ago. Things have changed, he doesn't feel like himself and everything he looks in the mirror, he spirals. What's the cause of this?
Why has the heart pirates once strong half mink cohort suddenly started going.... Insane?
Tw: angst, a lot of blood. Married men that suck at feelings. Mita is a warning by himself. Law's still ooc. Not a lot of warnings for this chapter
He stood in the mirror, staring at his reflection and what stared back felt as if it wasn't him, his mirror image was almost identical save for his eyes, his sclera once a light color now a dark black, his iris…. a vibrant muddled yellow now shrouded with red…. Bright… blood red
This wasn't him….
What was staring back at him was not who he was
This was an imposter!
Mita couldn't handle this… His balled fist tightened along the bathroom sinks countertop
The sound a breaking glass rang out through the polar tang
A thud followed by rushed footsteps that came to a halt by the door was all mita heard as his mind melted into chaos, tears welling in his lashes
The shattered glass in his palm scraped at his arm as he clawed at the flesh there, crimson red blood oozing down his arms as his sunk to his knees on that bathroom floor
Crying…
Mita didn't speek as law rushed into the bathroom, his body racked with sobs and uncontrollably shaking
Law halting, mita's hair had streaks of pale white, these streaks stood out so much.
Had they always been there?
Law let the thought slip as he grabbed mita, prying the half mink’s claws from his own flesh so mita wouldn't harm himself any further
“Mita…”
No response
“Mita” laws voice raised slightly still mita's voice didn't follow, only sobs
“MITA!”
that got a reaction, mita flinched, before slumping forward into law's chest, heaving and coughing
Law carried him to infirmary, fussing at the cat as he did so
The captain was not happy, mad? No? Just worried sick
Law set the shorter man down on one of the beds and as he did so a small ball of energy came barreling into the infirmary
Grinning ear to fluffy ear
She stared at the two men before her eyes widen
“Papa?” The girl came closer before carefully crawling into the bed with mita
Law tried to stop he but she simply crawled back in
The captain sighed before he set about picking glass from the half mink’s knuckles
Mita didn't look the girl in the eyes
He was scared
Scared that his own eyes would terrifying the small child he got to call his daughter
“Himari try not to shift too much, mita's not feeling too good right now” law mumbled as the girl settled into her father's lap, leaning into his chest.
Her ears perked up
“Your heart…”
She sounded worried
“Why's it beating so slow…”
Law tensed at that before looking at the other male
“Mita?”
“Im fine law”
“No you're not!”
Himari tense at the loud noise, her ears pinning back as she reached up to cover then
Law looked down and picked her up “im sorry himari but dad and papa need to have a little talk” he set her down on the floor and with that she walked out of the room rather downtrodden as she did so
Law turned to mita, eyes narrowed
“Look at me”
Mita didn't listen, just simply grabbed some of the nearby supplies and started cleaning the gashes along his forearms
“Is there something you're hiding from me?”he sounded…. Tired
Mita's ears perked up and for a second he almost looked up before deciding against it
Law's hands clenched at his side
“Mita if your sick you should know by now to tell me”
“I'm not sick”
“Then what are you? Cause this sure as hell isn't healthy! You're breaking mirrors and collapsing at least twice a week! That's not normal!”
“I said I'm not sick! Stop worrying about it”
His fur along his ears and tail bristled, far more than normal, almost as is the fur there had gotten a little longer
Mita wrapped his arms, stewing in dread as the what could possibly be happening to his body, using his teeth he ripped the bandage wrap and secured it in place
“Not sick my ass! If your not sick then what the he-”
Mita growled, glaring up at law
Eyes still red, scleras still black
“I SAID IM FINE”
Laws ears ringed, his head throbbed, this wasn't like the other times mita's abilities have activated on there own
He could hear the pained yelped from bepo across the hallway and the sound a few other crew mates hitting their knees
Normally it only affected people in a small range
Law stared at mita, his grey orbs looking into unsettlingly bright red eyes
And even as his head throbbed and his ear bleed he couldn't look away.
He could see the fear in mita's eyes.
The fear of what would happen to him
The rest of the time spent in the infirmary was spent in silence
Mita woke up the next day dizzy
He ended up falling off the bed law left him in from last night
Law came rushing in at the sound of the thud, infirmary door slamming open as mita tried to push himself up onto shaking arms
A weak “just… hungry..”
Law sighed and helped mita up, helping him to the door before the half mink doubled forward.
Covering his mouth, mita coughed and when he pulled his hands away
Red….
His hands were stained in red.
He didn't have time to dwell on that as his world grew dark. The last thing he saw was the floor now covered in blood he'd coughed up before he passed out.

The mink and the marine
A/n: I wrote this a while back when I was listening to normalize by mother mother so if the writing is really crappy I'm sorry this is really old. And I somehow forgotten to post it when I finished writing it. Anyway ugh here this backstory for mita. In case anybody that actually reads my stories are curious about her/him
Tw: friends fighting, major character death. Mentions of selling humans. Mita gets traumatized. Uh poorly written. Law's very ooc. Mentions of Blood. Kiva kills an animal.
Link for the A03 version
She ran through the forest searching for food, her pack would go hungry if hunting didn't go well she she was to help tonight, the forest was most baren now, it was fall, most critters were hiding, getting ready to hibernate, and while the pack didn't like the taste of it.
she contemplated going to the beach to hunt for fish in the water, the water near the island would soon be frozen over, it would do well to stockpile fish if they could without them rotting
Mita figured that was the way to go, so she made her way onto the chilly sand of the beach, the sun doing little to warm the grains beneath her feet.
She looked around thinking maybe she'd find some crabs before she'd check the water instead she saw a man… not a boy…. He looked about her age but she could barely tell, he was face down..
Was he dead?
No…
Her ears flicked as she concentrated
She could hear his heartbeat even from here. He was alive just clearly passed out
She made her way over to the boy, now that she was close she could see the fur… what was that? It looked like… feathers! There were fluffy feathers along his back, they rested on his shoulders, he had feathers in his hair… Was he perhaps like her?
She reached out, pulled his wet and probably freezing body away from the water and the shore, she fell on her ass once she got him far enough away, but all she did was glare at the sand as if it'd slapped her mom, even though she didn't have one
The man she pulled from the water coughed, blubbering as he struggled to lift himself up, she helped him, making sure he was stable before she let go, he stared at her for a second before he spoke
“Where…. What- who are you? Shit did i fall overboard, fuck-”
Mita stared back, this was her first time hearing someone talk in so long, she'd picked up on things from people that have washed ashore before so she knew words quite a lot of words she herself just couldn't speak she… she didn't know how to speak.. she didn't have parents to teach her, so she tilted her head, ears dropping as she did so.
The boy looked back confused for a second before he caught glimpse of something shiny on her neck, she noticed to and simply pulled it off, showing it to him
“A dog tag…. A date of birth and a… name… mita?"
She perked up… that's what is said? That was her name? Mita?
“Your name’s mita?” She nodded in response
“Can you talk?” She shook her head
“but you can understand me” she smiled in response practically grinning ear to fluffy ear
He seemed to understand what that meant cause he smiled back
“Well mita im kiva… I think I fell off my ship… damn… Captain's gonna have my ass… smoker will too.. shit” kiva shook his head
“Considering I don't see anyone other than you and… are those wolves?”
Mita turned, her pack was staring from the treeline neck fur bristling as they glared and growled at the man
She made a motion when her hands and from what she could tell they seemed to understand he wasn't a threat
“I take it there's no other people here?” Mita shook her head then turned and signaled for kiva to follow
He did… mostly out of curiosity… there was a girl and she… had ears and a tail, she'd heard of minks, they were like normal people just fluffy and with more animal properties then the average person… who had none, but this girl was a mix of both
A half mink perhaps… but those were so rare, nearly as rare as lizard minks… they were practically unheard of…
Kiva let the thoughts wash away as they reached the forest
Mita led the way, though clearly on unsteady feet, it was as if she wasn't aware of where she was going despite the fact she led the way with almost absolute confidence… something was off about her
They stopped at a clearing leading into a cave, mita's pack stared and growled and kiva stepped into their territory though they didn't lunge or snap at him, they just watched with suspicion in their dark eyes
Kiva would soon grow used to their uneasy stares, and he did, weeks passed, he helped hunt, often fair better then mita despite her better smell and hearing capabilities, she seemed to lack in the vision department, he even made time to help her speak, she seemed to be doing better she could say some words and simple sentences, he's tried teaching her more than the ones she already learned it was just….
It was taking a while
Months passed before Kiva managed to get her to speak clearly and even then she still barely spoke. She seemed more comfortable when sitting in silence and listening to him talk
So he let her though he still spoke to her, and on occasion when a wrecked shop would wash up he rummage through it with her, he's found a few books, for some reason there was one with a list of devil fruits on them, seeing the picture made his skin itch under the muzzle, it was uncomfortable wearing it but due to his own fruit he was forced to wear it when the government found out about his awakened powers
He hated the government…. But being sold into the marine core at a young age by your parents… it leaves you little choice in things
Mita seemed fascinated by the book, she liked the pictures from the looks of it so he let her keep it. Later that day he sat along a Cliff, it's been months since he washed up on this island he was starting to think the navy would never look for him, he didn't care.. he kinda liked it here, it was better then being on that ship with garp and occasionally smoker
He heard footsteps and turned his head to see mita sit beside him, she had the book in hand, he watched as she opened it and passed it to him
“You can't swim… the book says those who can't swim are often… devil fruit users, are you one?”
She muttered the words slowly almost as if scared she'd mess them up if she spoke too fast but she still…
She spoke… a full sentence…
He felt a sort of pride in hearing her speak properly, she had a wonderful voice
Kiva looked down at the book, he picked it up and flipped through the pages stopping on one, he let his finger glide of a light blue fruit, it was lumpy with a swirl pattern on it the form of what he could only describe as ripples like ones in water, the scream scream fruit it was a logia type devil fruit
“This is my fruit… i took a great risk eating it… when i awakened my fruit it could have poorly affected me, this fruit’s known for driving the user mad, slowly ripping their sanity away with each use of their awakened powers especially if they're not truly ready for such powers…”
Kiva sighed, he closed the book and handed it the her as he stared up past the tree leaves… it was getting dark
“I happened to be one of the lucky cases… had i gone mad, the fruit very well could have killed me… but it was worth it even if this stupid muzzle is hindering my ability to use the fruits powers”
mita stared in wonder as he spoke, she seemed to soak in every word that came from him, and when he finished speaking she chimed in with a soft voice
“I'm glad you survived…”
Kiva felt his face heat up…
When was the last time someone said something so kind to him? Years probably… and likely from one of his nannies when he was young
He shook his head and grinned, lifting a hand to ruffle mita's hair, he chuckled at the soft purr that erupted from her
Guess she really was just a big cat… makes sense tho she was a snow leopard after all…
Kiva stood, dusting himself off “we should get back to… your pack, it getting a bit late”
Mita simply nodded in return.
Years passed, the marines never showed, what did show up though was terrifying.
Birds, massive birds, she's seen them swoop down and take off with a few of her pack mates more then once, only recently has she learned they could be killed. kiva took one down when it came after him, clawed talons digging into his muzzle, trying to grab at his face
It didn't take off with him but it took off with the metal that had bound him, something in him changed that day.
Something in the way he grinned, glaring at the bird. She felt here ears ring as he whispered a deep and guttural
“Die”
Falling to her knees and covering her ears she watched as the bird took a nosedive into the trees, he walked off towards it, fist clenched.
It took a lot of will power to move and when she did she raced after him
Watching in terror as he ripped a few feathers from the birds flesh, blood followed, staining his hands in crimson
She watched in horror as he replaced the feathers in his hair with the ones stained in red
Kiva was never the same after that… he scared her sometimes, the pack didn't quite like him anymore, they already didn't trust him but now they rarely let him out of their sight, sniffing at him and snarling
They could sense the shift in him
It was unnerving.
It didn't take long for the marines to show up, kiva figured they probably somehow knew he didn't have the muzzle on anymore
He managed to avoid them for weeks but mita got curious.
She wandered up to them and asked a lot of questions, they answered most and then asked their own
She grinned, happy to have more people to talk with until they asked about kiva, they said they were here too…. Too take him away…
She felt her stomach drop, she excused herself and ran to the forest, a cold sweat breaking out along her skin as she raced towards the cliff kiva and her usually resided on during the day
Kiva watched her, climb up, panting and trying to catch her breath
“The… marines”
He felt his whole body tense and then sighed
“I guess it's time for me to go…”
“No please! You've said it before that you don't like them! That you hated being in the marine core! Please don't go!”
Kiva shook his head “i have no choice”
Mita felt tears tears well up in her eyes, she didn't wanna be alone again, she screamed at him, begged him to stay but he didn't listen
No matter what she said to him he was dead set
She hated this, hated that he was gonna abandon her, she loved him and yet he was to leave her here
She cried, desperately wiping away tears as she cried and sobbing
Kiva went to reach out, to comfort her but when he touched her she freaked out shoving him away, he lost his footing and slipped falling from the cliff
Mita screamed and tried to grab him but before he even hit the ground one of the massive birds that had migrated to the island swopped down and grabbed him, she watched in horror as it took of with him leaving behind his scarf, she picked it up, holding it tightly to her chest
Kiva was strong, he would make it out alive she was sure of it…
Oh how wrong she was. Days passed and he never showed up
The marines stayed, they kept looking for him and then suddenly they started packing to leave
She decided to see if maybe kiva was on the ship, from the looks of it the marines would be gathering supplies for the next for hours so she left the clearing the pack resided in
Dead set on getting into that ship.
And then she saw it, a fruit.
Lumpy, though almost spiky in a way. pale blue, and with ripple like swirls. The stem looked torn or as if it hadn't grown right.. leaves perturbed the bottom as if protecting just a small portion of the fruit.
She felt her chest tighten as she picked it up, she ran back to the clearing. No no no this couldn't be! There's no way this was his fruit! The book would tell her, she grabbed it. Frantically flipping through pages til she got to the one with kiva fruit. Her fingers grazed across the image on the page
He was…. Gone… and it was all her fault..
She stared down at the fruit as a presence sat beside her
It was one of the wolves, they glanced at the fruit then at her. It was as if they knew what it was.
The wolf simply made a motion similar to a nod, even nudging her hand with it's snout
She hesitantly bit in to it, it tasted gross… but it wasn't the worst thing she'd eaten, she ate the rest of it then stood and made her way back into the forest. She was done staying on this island, so with kiva's scarf wrapped tightly around her neck she snuck onto the beach and and somehow managed to get onto the marine ship
She hid for hours til they left for sea
Her stomach started growling eventually.. she could smell food so she followed the scent
There was… what did Kiva call it? A kitchen? Yeah!
There was a kitchen people were cooking in it
She quietly snuck into the kitchen, they had food set out on some counters so she grabbed what was on one of the plates and dashed away just as it hit the floor, she heard fussing and arguing and she ran back to her hiding spot
She managed to keep this up for a few days until she got caught
She was sneaking back to the kitchen and she slammed into one of the marines. Panic filled her as she tried to run away but he grabbed her by her scarf, almost choking her, she struggled against him
The marine just seemed to be investing the fabric between his fingers
“That's kiva's scarf…. And you're the girl from that island… stowaway!” The marine yelled and she panicked
Baring her fangs at him she bit into his hand and ran, marines chased after her, she kept running until she hit a dead end, this hallway didn't go anywhere so she turned watching as the marines circled her
Something in her instincts told her to scream so she did
Raising her voice she yelled out
“back off” she screamed
The marines fell to their knees covering their ears, she could see red trickling from under their hands
Did she just?
She didn't get to finish that thought
There was a weird noises that sounded, a hue of blue covering the ship and then she plunged into the ocean
Something broke the ship
She desperately clung to a piece of wood trying not to fall beneath the waves, but her energy was fading
And then she blacked out
She woke coughing up water, shivering as she glanced up
There was a man he had his hand out as if he was going to help her up but she just started at him with suspicion
He sighed going to grab her and pick up but she growled biting and slashing at him
“don't touch me!”
He covered his ears, blood covering his fingers as he pulled his hands away
“Your a devil fruit user-”
She didn't get to respond
She started coughing, covering her mouth as she hacked up blood
She stared at her now blood stained palms
And then she hit the deck
She woke up much later in a room
The smell in here overwhelmed her senses, she sneezed three times
A voice in the room let out a low chuckle
She watched as the man from earlier handed her some soup
She stared at it
“Look you've been out for a few days, now that you're awake we need to get you eating soft foods that won't mess with your stomach”
She stayed silent, taking the bowl of soup from him as she stared at
“What were you doing on that marine ship anyway?”
She tensed, it was like her life flashed before her eyes and then her head started throbbing, it hurt so badly. She let out a pained scream. Sharp claws digging into her skull. The man grunted, swaying as he covered his ears, he felt his mind slip for a second before he had the idea to cover mita’s mouth
“Can you stop doing that?!”
She cried, sobbing as her head throbbed, shed dropped the soup in the process of her own head trying to murder her
She heard shuffling and running before two people barged into the room barely having the strength she opened her eyes. Tears along her lashes as she looked at the two men. They had hats on, though hard to see with her blurry vision she just about made out the colors. one was black and white and the other was.. red and green, they made a fuss trying to get through the door before they spoke
“Captain, are you ok?”
“I'm fine shachi, do you mind?” He made a motion to the floor just and shachi was about the step into the hot liquid
He backed up pretty fast once he noticed it
“Penguin go get another bowl of soup”
The one he called penguin left the room, shachi followed after
Law began cleaning up the mess that was made as mita curled in on herself, crying
“I take it that's a sensitive topic then?” The man sighed “well i guess introductions are in order then, I'm law… Trafalgar law”
he threw the broken glass into the garbage then cleaned the spilled soup up once done he stood and held his hand out
Mita reached up grabbing the dog tag around her neck, she stared at it
“Mita… Mita D. Rune”
Law's eyes widened and his outstretched hand dropped
“You're a D?”
“A what?”
“A D.. it's-” he sighed, she looked to confused to be someone who'd know what that meant
“Nevermind…”
Penguin came back with the soup and law handed it to her
She still stared at it, it didn't smell bad… it smelled rather good and law didn't seemed to be trying to kill her so she took a hesitant spoonful of the soup
And then she dug in
“Do you have somewhere we could drop you off at? An island you live on?”
Mita froze…. She didn't wanna go back… she didnt wanna be the only person on the island again… so she lied
She shook her head “no i… not anymore”
Law hummed then sighed “well i guess i put myself in this situation then didn't i… you sure you have nowhere to go?”
She shook her head
Law mumbled something under his breath
“You can stay with us then, so long as you're willing to live the life of a pirate”
Anything's better than the life she just came from
“I'll do it”
Law smiled “I'll have bepo teach you the ropes once your fully recovered”
they both nodded
And so began mita’s new life, she would grow to like it, she was sure of it
She could tell the people on this ship- submarine… weren't bad even if they were pirates, law saved her after all…
She'd just have to get used to living under the water.

Totally not me forgetting to post these haha nooooo not at all. Uh anyway in all seriousness, this is Nathan, both in normal form and wild form. His quirk is a lot like his cousin's kidashi and Jonah, but he's more were then wolf in terms of wild forms. (Also a lil glimpse at ashi again lmao)
Ashi and Jonah both having quirks that turn them to wolves, ashi's quirk being referred to as hellhound post plf arc since she ends up awakening her quirk, Jonah's quirk is just called hound shape. I'll draw Jonah later.
I'm a lil mad I had to use so many pose refs for Nathan's wild form but I've never drawn werewolves before so I haven't learned the anatomy yet and I'm still learning anatomy in general. But I still think he turned out good regardless.

The fic regarding kidashi and her sister has obviously not been finished but I will be spending the majority of my 2 days off work after tomorrow to work of that, I will officially start posting the fics here as well meaning soon I will be reworking my master list so you won't have to go onto A03 to read them unless you prefer A03's formatting.
Have a little work doodle of @azuzur 's oc blacky in the meantime
