When I was young I would write elaborate, novel-length explanations of how the characters in the fiction would emerge from the fiction into my reality. It did not work because, ultimately, the description of a thing is not the thing. This is honestly what I think is the most pressing and critical problem for description scientists to be working on right now because if you fixed it you could just describe your cat NOT tracking litter into the bed in words so compelling the universe would have to comply instead of just telling her "no, you didn't do that" and having her look at u and say "the root stock of every wickedness is pleasing symmetries supplanting truth."

("But what is truth?" you ask; she licks her butt.)
