The Lunar New Year is coming up.
I finished crocheting my mom’s cell phone bag and a pair of arm warmers for my grandparents to share.
Yesterday, my grandmother passed away. I went through the motions of sending in my application to study athletic therapy but the passion isn’t there.
There’s no passion in anything right now. Depression took its sweet time.
It’s all good, though. My husband is very supportive and I know what to do for self care. If you know me, I’m sorry the silence in advance.
I’ll just study for now; I can learn when I’m better.

I asked mom what she wanted me to crochet and she said she wanted a cell phone bag. My goodness, her cell phone is ginormous. It can fit a passport and some! It’s going to be mailed along with a surprise gift for my grandparents for the Lunar New Year.

The scarf is finally done! I kept it simple and light, sewed the ends together only halfway so it could also look like a shirt collar. The tiny green button allows me to tighten up as much or little as I want.
Don’t mind the messy post-swim hair and dirty mirror...

I went through 3 blogs and 2 youtube videos to figure out the primrose stitch and none of them were exactly clear. Here’s my attempt at expressing it in a chart and hopefully it’s helpful. Just keep in mind that your 3 double crochets go in the gap underneath the 2 slip stitches instead of in them.

So, I’ve noticed something about the linen/granite/moss stitch. The scarf is above, in the background, and I’ve been crocheting in the slip stitch. I’ve started my husband’s vest, below and in the foreground, crocheting underneath each slip stitch.
Both alternate between single stitch and slip stitch but the differences are very obvious. My husband’s vest looks a lot denser and more grid-like while my scarf is lacier.

The husband wants a vest he can wear to work. If I were lazier, I’d use worsted yarn, but the man is a furnace. Sock yarn would be more versatile, but I’m not looking forward to the exponential increase in stitches...

Sniffly. I lost my headband. I made this while listening to this semester’s batch of lectures and falling in love with biomechanics.

The back side of the star stitch actually looks really cool.

Happy New Year!
Here’s the flower from my bag. I hope the chart is clear enough. I made a point of drawing arrows and colouring the chart based on their layers (brown, orange, green, blue) because reading charts in the round is always a pain in the butt for me.

Star stitch for my grandparents. Any guesses on what this might be?

I had a weird, almost spiritual experience yesterday.
I went to the library after my last exam of the semester to pick up some “leisure” reading and prepare for next semester. I’ve been a long time fan of Dr. Leon Chaitow’s work but actually purchasing his books is on the back burner because I’m currently saving for Gray’s 40th. The next best thing is to borrow them from the library.
I obediently followed the call number jotted down on my hand and walked to the RM section.  It slowly dawned on me that the entire row of books looked uncannily similar to my own collection at home with the omission of Chaitow’s books. The first photo is from the library and the second is from home (I lent my Anatomy Trains to a friend). Know that I have never gone to that section before this and was a bit freaked out. It’s as if the Library Gods know me better than I know myself.
This entire time, I only ever had a vague idea of going into hand therapy for rather personal reasons. It’s absurd how a row of LCC-categorized books could succinctly show my true passions lie elsewhere. I really need to re-evaluate the role I want to take in helping our world.

Here’s the chart I made for the second try. Quarter doily.
By the time this is posted, I will have finished my last exam for this semester. Time to start making stuff for my family. Have a merry break!

Sock yarn is difficult. I keep on making my stitches way too tight or miss stitches. Practice always helps.

I drew this 5 times while my husband kept nagging me to have dinner.
If you use Tumblr for your study supplements, please keep in mind that sup/inferiorly, it’s not that accurate. With a few obvious exceptions, I’m more concerned about what’s med/lateral here.

Day 2: Mid Afternoon
The siblings are completed! The power is back! The branches of the maxillary artery that supply the teeth are infraorbital, posterior superior alveolar and inferior alveolar!
I started making the owlets on a Friday after class and finished them on Saturday afternoon, just in time for our family’s final dinner with my great uncle before he leaves Canada to visit his kids and grandkids.
Owlet crochet ends here. Thank you for your patience.
