Friends don’t lie: Tobin Mic Night: An Evening of Comedy and Music is coming, and the show is going to be great! This lady here is super excited. I keep calling her to tell her about it but her phone doesn’t seem to be working.

THANK YOU to everyone who made the July Tobin Mic Night the biggest and best one yet. To celebrate our anniversary show, our good friend and frequent guest Trevor Childs took it upon himself to write us this wonderful THEME SONG(!!), which I am still floored by. It’s been a really fun first year, and I want to acknowledge all the performers who’ve contributed their talents and have helped spread the word. We’ll be back on September 14; see you then!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out for another kick-ass Tobin Mic Night. Jokes were told, singalongs were had, rum jobs were consumed; Prince won World War II; pretty solid all around if you ask me.
Thanks again to all our guests: to my comedian cronies Jane Harrison, Josef Anolin, Jesse Fernandez and Christopher John for really great sets; to musician (and surprisingly effective heckler) Katy Stephan for really fantastic tunes. Also to Ben Kolina, Cameron Vannini and Ron Chapman for sharing their video (you should go to their show on Sunday).
And thanks to Jeff Zamaria for his tireless A/V skills, and to everyone at Doc's for letting us hang.
Tobin Mic Night will return July 20!

Tobin Mic Night is this Wednesday! Next up on our guest list is Jesse Fernandez! Jesse has written comedy for MSN, Starbucks, Hitachi, Ebaum's World, and he was the only comedian from the lineup who actually sent me a video link like I asked, so you should definitely take a few minutes and watch it. Jesse won the 2010 National College Funny Film Competition and also does this fake-clapping thing that I still laugh at. Come see Jesse and the rest of us on Wednesday!

Today on “Meet the guests of Tobin Mic Night (May 18)”: we are excited to welcome comediane and Jim Jarmusch film still Jane Harrison! Jane is a writer, comedian, and millennial from Atlanta. She has been called a wunderkind, by her mother, who supports her but really would prefer she not tell jokes that include family secrets. Jane also has a kick-ass new website that includes TMN on its calendar page. Woo-hoo!
Jane recently said: “Took a run because Beyonce's Freedom got me too pumped. Got back exhausted and drenched in sweat, poured myself a cup of water and put an ice pack on my face. I looked at my phone and I ran TEN FUCKING MINUTES.” So I look forward to seeing her out there with me at Bay to Breakers on Sunday.

Now batting for Tobin Mic Night (May 18!): comedian and wiffle ball slugger Josef Anolin. Josef reflects an eclectic appeal; a product of his melting pot, Bay Area upbringing and Filipino/Japanese American heritage. Onstage he’s known for on-point punditry, stylish substance and a palpable, affable freshness. And he recently was quoted as saying "Jezuz CHRIST, rifles are loud as fuck! My balls shook." Follow him @josefanolin.

Tobin Mic Night is May 18! so let’s meet our guests. First, I am thrilled to announce that our musical guest will be the incomparable Katy Stephan; singer, songwriter, and ivory-tickler extraordinaire. Her merch page once offered a (currently sold out) coupon for a free shot of bourbon. If you can’t get behind that, then I can’t help you.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is now my favorite tennis player, and not just because he helped an injured and shaken up ball girl (though the video is very sweet; I’m a sucker for “athletes doing nice things for kids”). No, he is my favorite because he used this act of kindness as a opportunity to troll the umpire:
“I hope she’s going well now. I asked the umpire during the game and she said it’s okay, but with the umpire you never know. I will double check if she’s well now.”
Brilliant. F*ck tha police, J-WT!

During a SportsCenter segment on whether or not Chip Kelly is racist, ESPN referred to two different black dudes as DeMeco Ryans. Maybe they checked with Chip and he was like, “Yep. Looks good to me.”

Apart from being an amazing headline, this is also great pub for Red Lobster. "Come out to Red Lobster. At least people will know you aren't masturbating."
