Prezi presentation of a world famous portrait photographer named Yousuf Karsh.
Personal Opinion Reflection
In the duration of this assignment, there were several interesting details that I got to learn about one of the world’s most famous portrait photographers, Yousuf Karsh. Something that absolutely stood out to me was how different each portrait Karsh photographed was. Not one portrait he took was alike and the reason I found this interesting because his motive to take these pictures were to ensure that his subject matter’s personality was shown completely in their portrait. For example, the portrait he had taken of Winston Churchill. It is very clear as to why that was Karsh’s most famous portrait because the personality of the man himself was extremely evident. From that one portrait, you can see the anger, intimidation, and superiority of Churchill just by looking at a simple portrait of him. That is the detail that stood out most to me in Karsh’s work; the fact that he was able to capture the personality of every single person he photographed, whether they were famous or not, is beyond mind blowing. Each photograph that Karsh took was unique for this very reason; the reason being that not one of his portraits were similar to another. His portraits not only showed personalities of different people but it also showed that no person is the same. Everyone is different and unique in their own ways, this wall all clearly shown in photographs taken by Yousuf Karsh. There is not one specific photograph that stood out to me specifically, it is all of them. The way Yousuf Karsh took his photographs has definitely sent him down in the history of photography. His work is absolutely stunning.

The downtown campus of the University of Toronto is the best location to take photographs in Toronto. The downtown campus is both significant to capture the history of Toronto and also has great scenic sites. The downtown campus of U of T is also a well known site for many purposes such as the contrast between the old and new buildings within the campus. Also, there are several old buildings still standing which show historical architecture. Many interesting pictures can be taken at this campus using concepts such as a high or low depth of field, symmetry, rule of thirds, rule of odds, objects in motion and many more. Some interesting facts about this location is that many people take their wedding photos here, some sites are also known to be haunted meaning they have a creepy atmosphere which can be beneficial in taking a good photograph. Due to the architectural, vintage and natural details along with the popularity of this campus, it has to be one of the best locations to take photographs in Toronto.
