Differences in Jeffrey's interview with Nancy Glass and Stone Phillips
During Jeffrey's interview with Stone Philips, a particularly noteworthy detail was the noticeable crease at the corner of his mouth, significantly deeper than in his interview with Nancy Glass. In the interview with Nancy, his mouth was slightly pouted most of the time, which seemed to be its natural, relaxed state. I compared similar postures from both interviews where his mouth was pouted, and the wrinkle depth looked consistent. This demonstrates that the difference in wrinkle depth wasn’t due to lighting in the two interviews.
In the interview with Stone, Jeffrey’s mouth seemed much more restrained. He made a conscious effort to press his lips inward, trying to make himself look better. I randomly selected a short clip from the Nancy interview where his lips were relaxed and slightly pouted as he spoke, and he didn’t appear to be self-conscious about it. In contrast, during the interview with Stone, he seemed to go out of his way to avoid pouting his lips. Whenever he had to say words that naturally required lip protrusion, he looked especially cautious and would quickly press his lips inward afterward.
The reason for this contrast is obvious: Nancy Glass is a good-looking woman, and Stone Phillips is a good-looking man. Jeffrey wanted to present himself well in front of someone he was attracted to. This suggests he hadn’t entirely lost hope or become as emotionally detached as he himself, or others, claimed. His concern for his appearance contradicts the image of someone who no longer cared about life or social perception. After being arrested for 17 murders and being labeled a monster, most people wouldn’t bother with their looks at all. Yet Jeffrey did, indicating he retained more passion for life than one might assume.

Note
Do you think it’s likely he killed more than 17? and maybe not remembered while intoxicated or for some reason didn’t want to admit to certain ones
Some police sources say he killed 22 people, but only 17 have been confirmed with evidence. So officially, only 17 are proven, the rest aren’t clear.

how much of jeff’s behavior was conscious manipulation do you think? some people think he had everyone fooled by seeming so passive. i mean he got money from people writing letters and i can never decide if he was a genuine person with his emotions and escaped capture by luck each time or if he was a master at blending in and not appearing as a threat
Some of Jeff’s behavior was likely conscious, but not all of it seems like calculated manipulation. He was socially isolated and often acted on uncontrollable impulses. However, appearing passive and non-threatening helped him avoid suspicion—that worked to his advantage. Things like receiving money from letters might have been more intentional. So it’s possible that he showed both genuine emotional responses and occasional manipulative behavior when it served him.

i think it’s interesting how emotionally affected pat kennedy was by being involved in jeff’s case, i wonder if it was something about pat’s personality in particular or how seemingly lonely and pitiful jeff was to those around him
It was probably a mix of both. Pat Kennedy was known to be a compassionate and empathetic person, which made him more emotionally vulnerable in high-profile cases. But Jeff’s extreme loneliness, emotional detachment, and childlike behavior also played a big role — he wasn’t just a criminal, he was clearly broken, and that likely triggered something in Pat on a human level.

The way Jeffrey interacted with others
One pattern in Jeffrey’s behavior was how engaging and attentive he was when interacting with others. Even when he was in a poor mental state, such as his first court appearance after the arrest, his instinct was to respond actively to those around him.
He was extremely sensitive to the people around him and attuned to their needs. He picked up on subtle cues, such as gestures, movements, shifts in posture, and sometimes misinterpreted them as signals directed at him. He was always ready to respond, even though he might misread others’ gestures.
His consideration for others was reflexive. When he sensed Wendy might want to talk to Ellen, he leaned back in his chair to give them space. When Boyle tried to reach for something across the table, he immediately stepped back to make room. When Ellen stood up to walk behind him, he moved his chair forward to let her pass. These knee-jerk reactions suggest that Jeffrey was actually very sensitive and considerate. He craved attention and connection, and he genuinely cared about those around him.

Small gestures that show Jeffrey's desire to fit in
One example of Jeffrey’s sensitivity to the people and environment around him is the way he sat in court. During his first appearance, when the judge entered and everyone was expected to stand, he began to rise but hesitated for a second because he didn’t immediately sense movement from those beside him. This delay caused him to stand up slightly slower than everyone else, and he quickly hurried to catch up. Later, when it was time to sit, he initially reached to pull his chair forward before sitting, but Wendy, who was seated next to him, sat down quickly, so in response, he followed her lead and adjusted his chair afterward.
Throughout the trial, this pattern continued. Jeffrey consistently tried to match the pace of Wendy and Ellen, who were seated beside him. Because they often wore dresses, they would smooth them down before sitting to prevent wrinkles, which naturally took more time. Even though Jeffrey didn’t have a dress to adjust, he deliberately slowed himself down to synchronize with them. These small gestures show his deep-seated conformity and his preoccupation with blending into his surroundings.

Daily Dahmer
1. As a teenager, he once lured a dog from the neighborhood to the woods with the intent to slaughter it, but he couldn't do it and let the dog go. It was the only occasion when he considered to kill an animal capable of feeling fear and pain (FBI files).
2. While being arrested, he scared the shit out of Pamela Bass when he made a loud, terrible scream, like a bear's growling because he didn't want the police to open the fridge with the severed head in it. (Pam Bass in Invisible Monsters)
