i hate it when i cant even write a poem about something because its too obvious. like in the airbnb i was at i guess it used to be a kids room cause you could see the imprint of one little glow in the dark star that had been missed and painted over in landlord white. like that's a poem already what's the point

So many Americans online don’t realize: We in Southeast Asia interact with working-class Americans far more than the rich ones. Why? Because our region is where poorer Americans actually come to work low-wage resort jobs, teach English, or retire on Social Security checks that don’t stretch at home. The ‘ugly American’ tourists? The military guys? The sexpats? Not exactly the 1% yacht crowd. But keep pretending your working class has no global footprint.

There was a character in a book I read once who was described as "handsomely fat" and that phrase is stuck in my brain forever. The author really was like "no shut up, they're charismatic, they're good-looking, they're handsomely fat. not just handsome AND fat; them being fat is directly contributing to their good looks. you agree." and they were RIGHT

yeah im still thinking about the minotaur sorry but just . imagine youre born wrong. imagine your entire existence is a punishment from the gods. for something you had no control over. imagine your mother holds nothing but contempt for you. she wont even look at you, not really, & she keeps crying & you keep crying & reaching towards her with your little arms & someone drags you away from her. & they keep you hidden & alone & a stranger comes & builds an impenetrable prison around you so youre doomed to forever haunt these endless corridors & youve never known kindness or companionship or love. & when they call you a monster. well. you believe them

There's something so openly disrespectful about how Serano is never cited in academic scholarship for coining the term transmisogyny. Butler is always cited for gender performativity. Puar is always cited for homonationalism. Edelman is always cited for reproductive futurism. All these ubiquitous academic terms used in queer & feminist studies that, even when considered canonical and universally recognized, still require a citation. But transmisogyny (if it's even acknowledged at all) is this free floating idea, a common word that needs no citation, no reference to the labour of theory building, no acknowledgement of an intellectual tradition that Serano was instrumental in advancing. if you fail to cite the queers and the gays it's deemed an error by peer reviewers, but the work of trans women needs no citation
