If techno was alive he'd have logged on while jack and Tommy were having their emotional moment, waited for the shock to wear off, said 'technoblade' in chat and then logged off

i love calling the presidents of lmanberg “administrations.” the schlatt administration. the tubbo administration. i’m eating concrete they’ve got campaigns and propaganda and political cartoons. they pass laws and kiss babies at parades and check out their citizens and whatever. “what the schlatt administration has left us is a broken nation” or whatever. they’ve got rallies and speeches. tubbo passes universal healthcare and it’s called tubcare

i think jack manifold really managed to perfectly sum up my thoughts on the dsmp. i miss it. but given the chance, i wouldnt want to do it again.
i think what made it special wasn't the story itself- though it was, and still is, amazing. Theres something poetic about a story that so heavily involved referring to parts of itself as an unfinished symphony to forever remain unfinished. We'll never get an ending to the egg arc. We'll never get an answer to the cryptic messages in Tubbo's lore.
And maybe thats okay. Because what made the dsmp special has always been the fandom. The people who dedicated so much time and mental space to what started as just a simple minecraft server. Everyone, from the people who created constant fanart and animatics, to the people who spectated and never even posted about it. We were what made it special.
We are why its still relevant. Theres people writing fanfics about endings to arcs that never got finished, or alternative ways storylines could've gone. People are making comics of possible epilogues for their favourite characters. People, even now, are theorising about the oftentimes cryptic and contradictory lore of the series.
And at its core, i believe thats what the dsmp is truly about. Community.
Ive joked about it a lot before, but i believe the dsmp truly is this eras homestuck. Not because theyre in any way the same. But because they both managed to bring together a widely criticised and hated fandom, that still brought happiness to the vast majority of people who engaged in it.

you know, jack's talking rn about how he kind of logged back onto the dsmp as a joke but unexpectedly got hit with a wave of nostalgia for all the time he spent on the server and ykw. the thing that surprised me the most with dream smp's ending is that a lot of the content creators that i felt like really enjoyed the roleplaying never did anything like that again. jack is one of them, but fundy was incorporating his coding into the lore and during the l'manburg era especially seemed really invested in his character. schlatt also seemed to get really into it when he was playing the big bad villain. and fucking karl jacobs? with tftsmp??? it was always kind of wild to me that more of them didnt end up joining other similar projects

Remember when c!tommy was being escorted to his exile by the very man who solved everything, and before them stood the small oak house that was his and tubbo’s (nobody else’s) (the one that was going to be their getaway when everything would blow over) (how selfish is it to have a view that isn’t doomed or land locked.)
and in that long second as his escort paused, a realization is made. All those meetings—all those discussions (about terms, about compromises, about burning horse-hides and stern presidential-dismissals) and without fault—without a second, all of it meant nothing. For with the first crack, the stench of dynamite obliterated the safe-heaven from oak to ash, and turned flowers into embers.
Like a tree falling in the middle of the woods, the horrid gasp of a law-bound vagabond cut into the air. And as he was pushed further away from the first crater (of many more) his pleads were not answered by the escort, nor would be answered by anyone else (nor be seen, nor be checked) for a very long time.
The ending means Tommy has continued, as we all have, as we all are. He is not dead, he has one life, as we all do. Shown to us through jack’s visor, he’s armored to the brim. Sword and shield, helm and breastplate. War won’t be coming, nor a government to arise, but the road back is long, and he’s not naive.
I think his most significant wounds test him every winter, and sometimes the bleep of that mareep makes him think of a certain blue crystal. But, this abode with tubbo, far-far away, won’t be turned asunder anytime soon.
