I'm Anglican. And this blog is random. But most or all of it is my photography (to which I retain all rights). Also, I happen to be the author of Pilot Point.

This old pic of my pond serves as a good-bye. The traffic here for my work on tumblr is so light, I think it best that I take my photos to my public Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/MarkMarshallAuthor/ If you would “like” that page, I would appreciate it. I will keep this tumblr up for now and keep enjoying others’ tumblrs, especially on art and history. But if you want to keep up with me, that Facebook page is the place to go. Thanks and good-bye.

The brushfire on my place earlier this month.

There was a big uncontrolled brush fire on my land this past weekend. I’ll be posting some photos of it and the aftermath. What started it is unknown. Maybe an idiot’s cig.

I have ground fog at my place a lot. But one morning, the fog was pretty much a thick cloud only over my pond.

Quote
Liberals love to say things like, ‘We’re just asking everyone to pay their fair share.’ But government is not about asking. It is about telling. The difference is fundamental. It is the difference between making love and being raped, between working for a living and being a slave. The Internal Revenue service is not asking anybody to do anything. It confiscates your assets and puts you behind bars if you don’t pay.

I hope everyone has a somewhat safe All Saints Eve and an excellent All Saints Day. I’ve posted an excerpt from my novel Pilot Point for the occasion at the link. Enjoy and God bless.

The tree frogs all over my house are not quite this big, but there are a lot of them! Should I be scared?

I love medieval depictions of Jesus descending into Hell . . . and kicking Satan's ass.

Vin Mariani really did have cocaine as an ingredient, and it really was popular with Pope Leo XIII - as well as Pope Pius X, U.S. President Ulysses Grant, Queen Victoria, and Thomas Edison. Supposedly it inspired John Pemberton to invent Pemberton’s French Wine Coca, which eventually became Coca-Cola. I don’t know what it says that the Coke connection seems more far-fetched to me than a pope endorsing cocaine wine.
