The moment I went from "I like Shaun Gilmore" to "Shaun Gilmore is my favorite NPC in all of Critical Role" was when he nearly got himself killed by Thordak because maybe there were survivors from the initial attack and he just had to make sure no one was left behind.

It's only ever mentioned once by Matt in the entire canon, but every time Gilmore shows up in anything, that's the first thing I think of.

The shopkeep who walked back into the dragon's fangs on the mere chance he could help someone.
