La serpiente emplumada

El viento sopla, el cielo resplandece, desde lejos se escucha que se acerca con fuerza y velocidad vehemente. Desprende una brisa de frescura inigualable; sin embargo, también emana un calor tan similar al cariño de una madre. Siento su presencia, como gira a mi alrededor. De repente, me abraza. Me abraza con esas plumas más suaves que la seda, con esa piel más resistente que cualquier escudo. Puedo sentirla cada vez más cerca, necesito abrir los ojos, pero no lo hago.

Comienzo a verla, los colores destellan al igual que una fogata en medio de la densa oscuridad de la selva. Al principio es aterrador. Poco a poco comienza a desvanecerse el miedo, me quiere mostrar algo, un camino.

Nos miramos directamente a los ojos. Son grandes y majestuosos, de un color tan dulce y claro como la miel. Miro dentro de ellos y por fin la encuentro, me encuentro. La serpiente emplumada, tan inmensa, inconmensurablemente bella y sabia. Surca los cielos cual ave en libertad buscando el significado de su existencia. Pareciera que nunca está en paz, siempre en constante movimiento, a la espera de algo que nunca llegará. Al igual que yo, está sóla en este mundo. Solitaria de inicio a fin, su única acompañante a través de este largo viaje es la sombra que refleja en los mares y praderas.

De oriente a occidente la serpiente vuela a la expectativa de la vida y de su efímera existencia. Sus viajes sempiternos la han dotado de experiencia y saber, los colores de sus plumas son destellos parpadeantes y memoriosos, llenos de conocimiento; estas coronan su cuerpo como las primeras canas de la vejez.

Al levantar el vuelo adorna el horizonte con su hermosura. Su danza aérea es una obra de arte perfecta. Con sus patrones ocultos tiñe el cielo de color y de vitalidad.

Su esencia impregnada de grandeza rocía todo a su paso.

En lo más profundo de sí, la llama permanece encendida, una voluntad sobrenatural oxigena el fuego que enciende el corazón de la serpiente. ¡Bom! ¡Bom! su corazón late con poder. Creo que puedo atisbar el espectáculo a través de esas rasgaduras que tiene por ojos, cómo consume todo a su paso, algo increible de ver, la belleza del caos y el desorden. De divinidad son dignos todos sus atributos.

El camino es claro, no hay rumbo, pero sí un destino. Agradecido estoy por la claridad de la senda, su beldad tan poética es una dulce armonía. Por fin lo veo.

Se aleja, tan inmensa, inconmensurablemente bella y sabia.

Por fin abro los ojos. Veo mi reflejo en el espejo.

Definición de muerte

La muerte se puede definir como un viaje, una transición a lo desconocido, a lo duradero, lo sempiterno. Es un periodo absoluto del cual es imposible volver, es la más dolorosa, pero a la vez alegre, despedida, no un hasta luego o hasta pronto, es un adiós. La muerte representa todo aquello que el hombre anhela, aquello que no puede ver, ni conocer, algo que siempre tratará de entender sin logro alguno hasta experimentarlo; una sensación ya sea de paz o penumbra, de calma o temor, que es inevitable. La muerte engloba todas las experiencias y sueños de un hombre para convertirlos en recuerdos hasta caer en el olvido. Es un estado indescriptible para quien sea indiferente de ella, la imagen del cuerpo inerte es la imagen de dicho viaje, es un pronóstico de eso que todos experimentaremos tarde o temprano. Cada uno determinará si, cuando llegue el momento, le temerá o le abrazará.

10 Reasons Why I Think I Made My Worst Investments Ever

I’ve been thinking about my investment style and how it’s changed over the years.

My first few years were pretty rough. I dove right in. I put some money in a brokerage account and just started. I was buying and selling with really no real idea. It was pretty reckless. But everyone starts somewhere.

The other day I started my taxes. That had me looking back at some old trades. Some of them are just awful. But hilarious. I had to include two examples in this post (see them below). I hope by writing this all down I’ll avoid making these mistakes in the future:

1. The P/E ratio is the absolute worst metric ever. It needs to be burned off the front page of every finance website. It is a backward looking metric. The stock market is forward looking. WTF. Avoid this. If a company has a really low P/E ratio, it generally has one for a reason.

2. Stay away from any and all foreign exchange risk. If you buy stock in an ADR or a company based in a country outside the US, and that country’s currency takes a hit, your portfolio is going to feel it. Managing investments is hard enough, you should not have to also worry about currency fluctuations.

3. Picking bottoms and calling tops is Russian roulette. A stock that’s down 50% from its highs can still drop another 50% from there. A stock that’s up 100% over a year can still climb another 100% in the next year.

4. Know where you’re going to get out before you make the investment. This makes life much easier. Before you buy a stock, know why and when you’re going to cut it out of your life if it goes against you. Don’t get trapped. Don’t waste time.

5. You need to be a master at avoiding FOMO (fear of missing out). There’s nothing worse than watching a stock spike, and so you buy it. You don’t want to miss out. You just need to join in. F that. Don’t do it. Chasing a stock rarely ever works.

6. Never buy a stock because of buyout rumors or because you think it will get acquired. You want to own strong companies not rumors or theories.

7. Always know your shareholder yield. Does the company pay dividends or have a history of buying back stock? That’s money being returned to you. If there’s no shareholder yield (dividends or buybacks), you’re basically left with a bet on growth. Know the difference. It will change your timeframe and expectations for any single investment.

8. You can’t ignore the overall market. In bear markets, they say all correlations go to 1. It’s hard to find quality stocks in bear markets. Everyone makes money in bull markets so don’t let it get to your head.

9. Study the tax code. It will immediately change the way you invest or trade. Trading can be a lot of fun. But at tax time it sucks. It’s a lot of work and even more taxes. You can save up to 20% on capital gains taxes when you hold a stock for more than a year.

10. The Internet is your best friend in the world of financial markets. But you have to double check everything. There’s so much free research available. There are also so many smart people writing and sharing ideas each day. But you still need to double check it all. If you like a trading or investing idea from someone online, make sure you corroborate the data yourself.

Es bueno hablar con alguien, aunque ese alguien seas tú mismo. El ajetreo de la vida puede desconcertante tanto que te deje confuso en cuanto a las personas con las que puedes contar. Me gustaría saber qué puedo sentir como lo hacía, pero ya no logro hacerlo. Estoy frío, utilizo a las personas y no sé cómo parar. El vaivén de la vida me ha facilitado la capacidad para hacerlo, ¿Cómo parar cuando has construido una fortaleza en tu interior para no dejar pasar a nadie más de lo necesario?

Me duele. Esa es la razón por la que opte por cambiar, porque dolía mucho. Lo recuerdo bien; pero, no creo que haya valido la pena.

self-pity is okay but don’t let it turn into self-loathing there is a line you need to learn where the two start to fade into each other and i know, it’s hard, i’ve been there but don’t cross it there are no paths over there no guidance, just detrimental thoughts it’s so easy to get lost and buried by your own mind left with no air or will to exist it’s all taken away from you so easily and it’s such a cold place i don’t want you to be stuck there i don’t want you to be lost i want you to have hope
