Didn’t know I need this!

If I wanted to become a witch, where would I start?

This is kinda a big question with a long answer. Honestly start however you would like. The way I did it though is this:

I picked one aspect of witchcraft and focused on that.

Maybe Crystals, or Cartomancy, or research the different types of Witches, or herbs, or alchemy? There is so much to learn and it can be overwhelming at times.

okay but there’s a difference between ambition and putting too much pressure on yourself. you can’t be achieving everything you want at all times, you can’t be productive every minute of every day. sometimes not everything works out, sometimes you just don’t want to do it, sometimes you can’t do it, sometimes you can put your everything and come out with nothing. you can’t blame yourself for it, you can’t tell yourself to always work even harder or use even more hours when you’re at a maximum. life isn’t fair, you aren’t a machine. does that mean you stop trying so hard, trying your best, wanting things? no! but i think having too much of the traditional version of ambition (wanting working getting) makes dealing with failure so much harder. how can you bounce back from something when you think you put your entire self into it? when in a vacuum where no external factors could influence anything it would’ve all worked out? here, you don’t just fail a task or a goal, but you fail yourself. it’d be so easy to fall into a pit of self loathing because you ‘should’ve’ or ‘could’ve’. ambition needs to come not from pure unadultered desire but simply a desire to do what is best for yourself. both your current and your future self. take care of your current self, be kind to them, work for your future self, but be aware that the plan will always be shaping and reshaping based on what happens and what doesn’t. want! work! in a way that does not burden your soul but liberates it! in a way that allows you to fail fail fail and try try try try again! in a way that makes you think about things that didn’t go the way you wanted them to and the word ‘failure’ doesn’t even cross your mind! rid yourself of the rigidity of traditional ambition! reframe what’s left! absolutely all of it!

all those motivating and uplifting posts are great but sometimes I feel like they are belittling the effort it takes. It’s not easy to start anew. You can’t just go to another country and start working. New clothes cost a lot. Changing Careers is hard and frightening. Breaking with toxic people takes a lot out of you and any new start goes with a lot of planning, anxiety, existential angst and courage. Any of those things, no matter how small, feels like a battle and I am proud of all that choose to fight it.
