I think my life would be 1000x better if Halt walked up to me, sighed, and picked me up like a ragdoll and very reluctantly put me to bed while I complained incessantly about it and he shuts me up by leaving to get some warm water bc “don’t dehydrate yourself”. I’m not even horny about him (yet) I just want to be picked up

I can't make myself like Pauline. I'm sorry, I just can't. It's Flanny's fault. He made her like that. She's flat. So, yeah... I agree with "we need book about Pauline" but I'm scared that with Flanagan she will end up even more flat.

Also, can we just agree that the thing with wedding wasn't a good thing? Like, organizating big ass wedding only to show your aunt something is just... eeh. And I don't even talk about that it was clearly making Halt uncomtable.

Pauline deserves better writer. Most of our babies out there do.

Honestly, theoretically, I think the O'Carrick siblings would be similar to my experiences with my siblings, but without the murderous intent.

We're kind of estranged despite living in the same house. When the family does get together, even when it starts out happy, it often times ends up in arguments. I don't think I'd miss my siblings that much when I move on. With one of them, their voice just. Grinds my gears. I can't listen to her sing (most of the time, except when a game is purposefully made for that).

(TW describing strangulation for the next paragraph only; the two after that reference it)

.... Another thing, too, though, is that I did strangle my sister once because, I think I don't remember for sure, I was overstimulated by her and wanted her to shut up. I didn't know it would potentially kill her, mind you, I just saw media doing it (you know, like, looney tunes). The last things I remember from that moment is her face as I was doing it, my mom finding us behidn the recliner, and staring guiltily as my mom consoled my crying sister in the bathroom.

I can see this happening between Halt and Ferris because Ferris just. Talks a lot. But Halt wouldn't know it was a murderous type thing because of reasons other than media, mainly being his environment itself.

(TO BE CLEAR I do love my siblings because they were born in the same family I was and my family and I do have a lot of good moments without arguments. The above paragraphs are just pointing out stuff that is similar, and I can't really describe things THAT accurately. Additionally, the second paragraph's events happened more than 10 years ago and we get along normally now).

Despite all this, I always imagine them pretty different: more connected and tight-knit, actively supporting each other, actively thinking about each other when stressful situations come up.

crowley halt and Pauline is a such a strange ship. In canon Crowley is implied to have feelings for Pauline (which i keep forgetting because it’s so random to me) but instead of the crowleyhaltpauline ship being Pauline and her harem it’s reduceert to cralt + Pauline who is sometimes there. Why not make cralt Paulines harem? Do you hate Pauline?

What's your POV on RA multiships?

I don’t really understand people who are so rigid that they can only have one ship per character…doesn’t even matter to me if it’s canon or not. Seems so boring to be in a space that’s all about playing with characters like dolls (together with character/story analysis and theories obvs) and just not. Do that. Not really relevant for RA but I’ve been in enough spaces in which people will actually get frothing mad if you’re a multi shipper. Ships who aren’t canon, worse if one or both has a partner, even worse if they never met. It’s not that deep. Shipping doesn’t have to be 100% serious or based on canon or semi canon, it’s fun, it’s a way to interact with the story and see how things can be different. If this ask is somehow about poly ships; kind off the same answers? I generally don’t care but I do think it’s often used as sneaky way to ship two men if one is in a relationship without seeming like you see the woman as competition (many such cases). I don’t doubt the sincerity of every throuple shipper I see if it’s two man and one woman, but it’s often obvious that some people just ship the men and don’t want to seem like misogynists. Again, I don’t really care either way, if you want to pretend like you ship steve/adam/eve but only post Adam and Steve who am I to tell you that no one cares and you don’t actually care about Eve.

I'm sorry but we gotta rewrite Pauline. She has every building block to be a good character but she just doesn't have the same character building as the other characters. Even GILAN, the man with NO APPEARANCE, has more substance than her. We gotta flesh her out properly.

Okay recent anon ask is pissing me off so I'm gonna finally share an opinion of mine: I want a book about younger Pauline way more than I ever want a third TEY book. And I have wanted this since I first read TEY, so no, it's not cause it's a fad to like Pauline right now.

It could show her experience as she became a courier, give insight as to her childhood, the struggles she faced as a woman in a male dominated field, and could even still feature espionage as she would have become a courier around the time that Morgarath was first starting get a hold on things. We could possibly see Pauline be among the first to notice something wrong with him, but because she's a woman, people don't believe her. So now, she has to go and find a group of people who do believe her. Similar to the forming of the Renegade Rangers, but politics.

And if he REALLY doesn't want to have to write a whole new cast, make it be about Pauline the few months before meeting Halt and Crowley. Around the halfway point, maybe. That way we can see things from her perspective when they met, and we can see what she did after they left. If I recall correctly, Pauline had to leave as Crowley and Halt left so that she could go on a mission. We could find out what that mission is. We would also get more characterization from Arald, likely seeing what he is like as a new Baron. We could possibly even get to see one of the ward members parents as background characters.

And that's just my take on things. There are a thousand different ways you could write a book on Pauline, and all of them would be interesting to me. Because I like Pauline as a character, not just cause I feel bad for her.

Anger issue (not really a golden retriever thing but still I wanted to say it)

if someone will say that Golden retriever is too goofy for him, no it's not. Not every golden retriever is goofy. And I think Crowley need some sunshine on his life

Why I think he definetly has daddy issue?

If someone is smart they can notice that Im definetly self projecting right now. I don't care. He's my favorite character to traumatize. I adore him and yes, I am fully aware I made him my OOC. I love my boy. No he's not dead. It's just a prank. Our little prankster.

this whole Pauline appreciation feels like recycling of George, Jenny, whatever minor character that doesn’t do much appreciatetion. This is how I behaved as a child when I slept with my least favourite plushie because I didn���t want it to feel bad for never getting to cuddle. Some characters are boring, flat and uninteresting and that’s okay, you won’t hurt their feelings. They’re not real

I feel like a big reason that Pauline chose to settle with Halt, despite wanting kids while Halt did not, is not entirely because she was willing to not have a kid and more like she can't. I headcannon Pauline has vaginismus. While women with vaginismus can have kids it simply might be too much for her body to handle due to the story taking place in medieval times. I also feel like a large reason why Pauline didn't have any male lovers for so long might be due to that as well, men wouldn't take the time out to make it less painful for her. Luckily, Halt does. Can also open the door for delicious Haltine angst.
