SO it’s been a while since I finished this project for my class, but I realised I never uploaded my work. So for my designy followers, say hi to,

The Honey Factory

Clear English Lavender Honey - the concept being that customers buy from local English beekeepers, supporting their work and therefore helping the issue of bees facing extinction. Each purchase comes with a packet of free lavender seeds so that customers can continue to keep bees busy!

I really liked working on this, even if it did take 9 months of development and a lot of stress at times, but I’m happy with my outcomes :)

Origami in Space

"Space" is expensive. Meaning to get anything super space awesome off this fat planet,..(I’m looking at you gravity..) it takes a tremendous amount of energy.  You’ll see this EVERY time we have to send something really small into space,..just look at the rockets used to send up the Orion.  Anyway, using the power of folded geometry we can send “big” things up there in “little” spaces.  :D

Dime by Splinter Works

Dime is a dynamic piece evoking a spinning coin. The individual curved segments, glide and shuffle to reveal its function. When closed it has a poetic repetition of form, softened by the texture of rosewood. Upon opening, the curved segments have a pleasing resistance, each contracting evenly until fully opened. The edges of the rosewood leaves are painted in a high gloss which highlights their shape. The playful form allows the user to hide or reveal the worktop and storage solutions. Hidden electricity points enable the use of appliances, with shelving and a curved drawer for storage. The worktops are made of black and gold Italian Portoro marble. The door handles are made of cast steel and directly echo the shape and design of the whole piece. Dime can be installed individually or as a group and can function in myriad ways, a sculptural cocktail cabinet, additional worktop space for preparing food, a self contained coffee station, a home admin desk, or a beautiful discrete flexible work pod.
