DO YOU REMEMBER REAL PAIN? EP
The second Rat Columns 12″ EP for 2015 is available for pre-order from another Berlin-based label, this time the awesome Adagio 830! The pre-order wax comes in delicious pink. The digital download version is also available.
This record contains five songs, four of which DTW from Rat Columns recorded by himself in a couple of rapid-fire sessions at an academic studio in a Melbourne university. These songs were mixed in New York City by the highly talented Jonathan Schenke. The fifth song ‘Little Drill’ was recorded during the ‘Leaf’ sessions at Kelley Stoltz’s Electric Duck studio in San Francisco with RC/SF lads Jonathan Young, Matt Bleyle and DTW.
Here’s a song from the record, ‘New Honey’;
The full tracklist; A1. New Honey / A2. Do You Remember Real Pain? / A3. Little Drill / B1. New Girl In Town / B2. If You Can't Fall In Love.
Hardcore Trivia! Adagio 830 are also releasing the E(uro)dition of our Berlin buddies Diät’s killer debut LP, ‘Positive Energy’. Members of Rat Columns and Diät were once in the Perth-based hardcore trio Burning Sensation. The 'Do You Remember Real Pain?' cover star, Mike Harkin, played with DTW in the hyper obscure indie-rock dirge duo Egypt and with Matt Bleyle in the SFHC powerhouse Caged Animal.

FOOLING AROUND EP
The fabulous Berlin-based label Blackest Ever Black are releasing a four-song 12″ EP by Rat Columns, the ‘Fooling Around’ EP. It contains the extended, unedited version of the DTW/Mikey Young jam ‘Fooling Around’ from the ‘Leaf’ LP, as well as another track from the ‘Leaf’ sessions, ‘Strays’. ‘Fooling Around’ features the stellar lineup of RC SF mainstay lads Jonathan Young on bass and Matthew Bleyle on drums, with special guests M.Young on synth and Rusty Miller on backing vocals.
There are also two songs, ‘Waiting In The New World’ and ‘Should I Leave You Alone?’ that DTW recorded on a borrowed four-track (thanks Marijn!) in friend’s apartments in Berlin and a friend’s Danish summer house after the 2013 Rat Columns & Rank/Xerox European tour. Thank you, friends.

The record is available to pre-order now from Blackest Ever Black, physically and for the digital spectrum. It hits the streets in late July!

LP 2 - 'LEAF' - OUT NOW

'Leaf', the second LP by Rat Columns is out now, released by RIP Society on 12" wax and available in various stores in Australia, the USA and elsewhere. Digital is available from Bandcamp. Americans can pick up the record from the Easter Bilby record distro. Send them an email if they are behind on visual electronic updates.
'Leaf' sees the Rat Columns ensemble both zoom in on the pop mainline and zoom out into some unforeseen strangeness. Jangle and chime crosses beams with grey feedback, glammy rock'n'roll, luxurious ambience and hypnosis beat panorama.
'Leaf' was recorded in the fabulous musical artist Kelley Stoltz's home studio and features contributions from RC mainstays David West, Jonathan Young and Matt Bleyle, return appearances from fab drummer James Vinciguerra, and sparkling cameos from crisp young things Mikey Young and Rusty Miller.
If anyone would like a lyric sheet, here it is...
