I’m sorry. Today, I’m once again emotional over this idiot.

Like, one of the things that drive me crazy about Kazuichi Souda is the fact that one of his main traits is that he is so cowardly. But even past that, he’s actually really brave too. Especially when he cares.

Honestly, Kazuichi should be given credit where credit is due. He's braver than he knows, being the first one to take initiative against Nagito (whether you think him punching him and tying him up was right or not, he still tried to do something), not being afraid to cry openly at his friend's deaths, standing up to Fuyuhiko when his dick switch is on in Chapter 2 and then running to protect Fuyuhiko and demand for Monokuma to do something when Fuyuhiko's survived Peko's execution.

Like Kazuichi can be strong. It's his trust issues and hesitancy that holds him back. He’s so damn scared of putting his trust into someone only for them to misuse it and hurt him. It’s so easy for him to get attached to Hajime and some of the others, to be playful and even affectionate, but to pull back and withdraw as soon as shit gets real.

There’s just something so raw about his arc as a character. The desire to want to be with people and to be liked, but then be too scared to really give them your heart and your true self for fear that they’re just gonna step all over it.

That's why I love the ending of Chapter 6 in the second game so much. After the Izuru stuff is solved and everyone bands with Hinata to wait for their friends with the NWP ending around them, Kazuichi takes the chance to tell not just Hinata but everyone that he's genuinely scared. It's a small thing, but it's really there to show that he's open to being vulnerable with them all when he just put his trust in them.
