now we can take this as eren being mega delusional to himself during multiple points in the story. to him, his vice or 'liqour' is his quest for freedom. he manages to convince himself that his means justify the actions that he's about to commit. he does that even till the end somehow when he endsd up breakinf down.

again, eren is a pretty good liar. by the time he's 19, no one knows whose side he's really on. some think he's on zeke's, some think he's on the islands and some have no clue. they're all convinced he's on board with some version of some plan, that he's either being manipulated or he's lost his mind, but never that he's doing something against his explicit will.

She says, "You don't want to be like me Don't wanna see all the things I've seen I'm dying, I'm dying" She says, "You don't want to get this way Famous and dumb at an early age Lying, I'm lying"

this is basically his conversation with falco at the hospital in marley. it's not as direct but he is warning falco about the hell of war, how people lose every part of themsleves in it. how he also lost so much in it himself. it could also be taken as how he had so much pressure put on him from such a young age, as the symbol for the island and somehow he's supposed to save all of them when he's 15.

again, people want eren. his friends want him as a person but the rest of the world wants him as a pawn, weapon, enemy, etc. now the phrase 'her mind's like a diamond' just means that his mind is incredibly complex and layered with a lot of angles which fits eren perfectly.

eren has this ability to be what everyone needs him to be. by the time he's 19, he knows when to let himself be shackled, to let them think they've won. he knows it will end his way anyway, so he plays along. 15 year old eren wouldn't have tolerated half of it but by now he's fully aware of when to flex his power and when to restrain- like with reiner in the basement, a silent threat without him even having to say a word, and he even lets reiner think for a brief moment that he's not about to commit a war crime. he's walking the streets, and his equivalent is that he's giving up his body and mind and soul for his 'liqour', which again, is his desire for freedom.

She says, "You don't want to be like me Looking for fun, getting high for free I'm dying, I'm dying" She says, "You don't want to get this way Street walk at night and a star by day It's tiring, tiring"

he's also fully aware he shouldn't be used as an example for anyone. he knows he's a horrible person and that he's doing horrible things. his life in marley, as a spy and his inital planning on the island must have taken its toll on him, physically and mentally. he was lying to every single person he knew and loved, while his mind was going a mile a minute with all future possibilties. he doesn't seem to be able to seperate these parts of himself enough so that his psyche comes out fine. he's playing all of these roles but none are truly him.

eren, as a charcter, fundamentally relies on how the people around him act. he's reactionary and unless something happens that he feels strongly about, he doesn't really do much. he's his most authentic during s1-2 but is starting to lose himself by the time they reach the basement, when the founder and attack titan have started to affect him. he 'dresses up'- not literally bc he'll wear that one shirt until hell freezes over. it's in the sense that he's a symbol, an object, an idol but not a boy. he's being put on stage for the yeagerists, even after death. they use his name for thier cause but he did leverage his status as 'humanity's last hope' to get what he wants. he 'sings his song' which is the speech about the rumbling and the paths is a live broadcast of it. and only after he's done that, does he experience 'true freedom' and feels alive.

it's literally him talking to mikasa and armin. they can't live without him because they've been with him since they were children. and he did kill for them, and die for them too.

Fushiguro Megumi as the 'damsel in distress' of JJK

a good amount of people have explored this a decent anount and i'd like to give my own two cents into this <3

megumi is incredibly dear to me and i won't lie when i say he does fall into some incredibly common shonen stereotypes- the dark silent brooding rival, the mature one in the trio, the token sasuke archetype. now all of those have merits and demerits.

for starters, megumi isn't really a rival to yuuji, rather a best friend that pushes him to do better. they love and care for each other and don't let negative feelings affect their relationship. megumi isn't edgy for the sake of being edgy. he's just cool headed and mature compared to those around him. he's not a dick for the sake of being a dick, he just has incredibly high walls up bc of his trauma and past.

now there is one trope that he does fall very well into, and that is the 'damsel in distress'. now, on the surface, that really doesn't seem the case. he's very strong, he hates depending on other people and he can hold his own in a fight. megumi isn't a damsel in distress because of his character, but bc the story makes him one. he's constantly forced into that role by other people, whether friend or foe.

he's never really been his own person, only what he means to other people. he places his self worth based on how well he can serve them. outside of that, he just has a very negative view of himself. it's almost megumi only exists to serve other charcters needs. he's a ward, soft spot and future weapon for gojo. he's something to sell and something to mourn for toji. he's a vessel and treasure for sukuna, and in the end, he's an end goal for yuuji to save.

as a child, gojo saves him from being raised by the zenin. but to be fair, he's a kid and kids are meant to be saved. then, yuuji saves him during the fight with sukuna, and again, no one would have been able to fight against that demon. but then shibuya happens, and the pattern keeps going on. toji saves him from himself, mahoraga saves him from ponytail twink, and sukuna saves him from mahoraga.

megumi is incredibly adept at fighting and battle iq. if he just developed better self confidence, he could be insanely strong. but time and time again, he's put up against people he cannot win against. and each time that happens, someone else comes in to save him. and each time he's self ego takes a massive hit. this doesn't happen for any other character the way it does for him.

megumi doesn't want a lot from life, he just wants his sister to live a decent life and to be by yuuji's side. in the end, those don't happen. the one thing he could have done to reclaim his agency, saving tsumiki, is also the one thing viciously torn from him. he loses his mental integrity just so his bodily autonomy can also be violated.

megumi is not a person, he's a plot device. he exists to motivate the people around him. he might have aspirations, humble ones that are small potatos in the grand scheme of things. but he's the only one who didn't achieve a single one of them while being used time and time again.

bc no matter what megumi does, no matter how hard he does or doesn't try, he can't escape his curse. and the worst part is that bc he's so meaningful to others, they would never agree that he has it bad. to them, he's always safe but to him, he's not even a person.

Pei Ming -> Joe

massive whores. manwhores. harlots. someone get them a scarlet A. multiple. enough for them to be visible to the heavens as a giant red point on the earth. sluts.

Shi Wudu -> Cherry Blossom

mostly their demeanours. yknow, like cold, sharp, practical. might be in love with their best friend. yeah cherry isn't nearly as shady as shi wudu but its just the vibe man.

Lang Qianqui -> Kyan Reki

i just get the vibe from lang qianqui that he's really trying his best to do right, to prove himself. and we all know that reki has literally no self worth. its the classic upbeat, golden retriever who has crippling anxiety and sadness. ig one difference is that reki sort of let the self doubt get to him, he isolated and refused to talk to the others. he fell in the pit. lang qinqui refused, going so far as the tell xie lian he would never give up on his dreams like he did. still, my boys my sweet boys.

TGCF x SK8 the Infinity

this is completely self indulgent and victim to my own personal baises and preferences :3

Xie Lian -> Hasegawa Langa

howard wang being the va for both of them is definitely fueling my delusions but i swear i do have some half decent points in my favour.

they're both the best at what they do, they both have 'special interests'. but honestly in terms of like how airheaded they are, i'd say langa is more like quan yizen based on how ditzy they both are. otherwise, they both get stalked and harrased by some older guy and on the surface, they both look calm and collected but in reality, they're both going through a lot. i firmly believe langa was suffereing from some sort of depressive disorder in s1 and he's somewhere on the spectrum. xie lian obviously has some sort of ptsd atleast from the coffin and cave incidents but it never shows on their faces or by their demenour.

they're both described as 'angelic' by those around them and when they're in the zone- they're absolutely terrifying. xie lian is the strongest martial god, and langa so far remains undeated at S. but they never acknowledge their status or abilities. langa just wants to skate gayly with reki and xie lian is going to keep up his 'humble scrap collector' gig until the sun explodes.

Jun Wu -> Adam

yeah this is pretty obvious.

- big bad of the series.

- wierdly obsessed with a 17 year old while also trying to isolate them from the people around them.

- seem to have been a pretty decent person until trauma got to them and they decided manslaughter was the answer.

- have a poor overworked secretary who enables their crimes.

- have a alt persona they feel more comfortable in.

- evil rich man. that's it.

id also go so far as to say they both tried to groom the object of their attention. when i say 'grooming' i mean it in many different ways for the both of them. adam was clearly trying to get langa to be in a 'romantic' relationship with him. you don't call a 17 year old the 'eve' to your 'adam' without it being atleast a bit sus. the roses, the speech, the nicknames and just the way he acts around him are clear signs of someone pushing boundaries and the worst part is that he's not even trying to hide it. the way he sets up a camera tracking langa is a clear cae of stalking which again, is a crime, but it's such a low bar to clear with him you don't even think about it too hard.

now with jun wu i wouldn't be so quick to say he was a sexual predator. he was a predator to be sure but it's type is way more complex. his primary motivation isn't to get with xie lian but rather mold him into a perfect successor. it's more ideological and personal manipulation. he doesn't desire xie lian sexually, rather he wants his mind and soul to be proof of jun wu's own messed up thought process. him acting this way towards xie lian is to prove a point to himself and the fate itself. now, his actions in that land of the tender scene and with the virginity sword are definitely incredibly off, especially considiring how important xie lians cultivation, and by extention his virginity, is to him but honestly it's the least messed up thing he's done so what can you do?

i do think that jun wu as an antagnonst is more complex and layered than adam is. not to say adam is a bad villain but he's a lot simplier to pin point and understand and that's not a bad thing. jun wu has been around for 2000 years he's going to have more experiences and development just bc of the amount of time he's been alive. i find him more interesting from a writing standpoint. hes a far more evil person comapred to adam but at the same time because he's so much more layered, more people would find something or the other about him they could relate to themselves.

again, im not saying tgcf is better than sk8 bc that is compeletly subjective from person to person. it's like comparing hot wings to fillet mignon, obviously they work better in different occasions. sk8 itself is way more lighthearted, light and simple compared to tgcf and that's fine.
