Raven x Joey
Joey: As tempting as that sounds, I'd rather keep things to a minimum.
Joey: I'd rather go back to the talk about the spa.
Joey: Is it reservation only or do they take walk-ins? If it's reservations, I don't mind paying for both of us.
Raven: Alright, fair enough.
Raven: I already made a reservation. I just needed you to say yes so I could know if I needed to get a refund or not.

Jono never expected to exchange numbers and keep up with the mutants and metas he fought alongside during the riots that broke out when NOVA went totally apeshit. He gathered none of that information and stole away to himself, as he liked to do, save for the interaction he had with Bobby, a hyperactive man baby who he shared a room with. Really a poor choice on his end, but he needed a better place to stay.
The one mystical woman, the one named Raven, from what he gathered from their first and only meeting. Her power was great and something that definitely intrigued Jono, but he wasn’t about to eat up his minutes just to talk to. He gave a small wave and adjusted the tightness of his scarf around his face, being sure that the flames were kept hidden and away from prying eye. “You’re a sight fer sore eyes,” he commented playfully. “How are - things?”

Raven had thought that she wouldn’t have seen the other again, but she was happy - deep inside - to be face to face with the other again. But she was probably getting excited for no reason - many were put off by her dark persona and her darker powers. So just because she was excited doesn’t mean the guy was. She slightly dropped her smile on her face, because she didn’t want to seem too enthusiastic.
“You are-too.” She stated softly with a curious expression. “I’m sure I would say if I could see all of you.” She was always honest - maybe sometimes too honest, but she wanted to see what was under there. “Uh... good. I started a new book... how have you been?” She tried to hide her blush as the other stared at her.

Raven was up early, something that was still extremely NEW to her. She was always a night owl - but when the registration program happened and the titans disbanded she went on to Seattle and started becoming opposite of what she was. She was currently writing a supernatural fiction book - surprising her millions of readers with a new series announcement earlier that week. She knew she’d have to get to working on it asap.
He looked up from her laptop when her phone buzzed. She stretched and moved her lapttop to the side, deciding to get up and stretch for a bit. When she saw Zatanna’s name above the notification of the message, her eyes widen with shock. But She smiled because she hadn’t seen her old friend in a while. Raven picked up the phone and started to text back.  [text 8:16] What’s up, Zee. And I think it’s be a while. A few years!  [text 8:16] Oh good. I am not up to anything today, honestly. Let’s go. I could use a good breakfast burrito.

A Coffee Break || Zee & Raven
@ravenrothx
One could say a day off was a blessing but for Zatanna, a sense of confusion wavered in the back of her mind. She hadn’t had a day off in a while. Even when she wasn’t performing, she was participating in events, by the request of her manager. So to read the text saying she “earned the day off” was almost a mockery, if anything.
Regardless, she reached into her contacts, scrolling through the numbers until a name caught her attention. Raven was someone she hadn’t spoken with in a while. Legs were splayed across the couch, shoulders squared as she held up the phone better to her view. She started with two simple texts and set down her phone, glancing over at her tv remote while awaiting a response, should she receive one.
[text 8:13] Hey Rae, it’s Zee. When’s the last time we grabbed breakfast together?
[text: 8:15] I’m off work today and I could use a coffee right about now. What do you think? Do you have time?

Raven x Joey
Joey: I do.
Joey: Yeah, it's a long story. I told him to keep his distance from the man but the whole situation is stressing me out. I know Grant's history with men isn't great.
Joey: I'm the younger brother but I'm still concerned about him. He said he can handle it himself, though. So I'm just here waiting in case something happens.
Raven: Good!
Raven: Yeah... I can't judge him much there, but this one sounds like more than trouble than necessary.
Raven: SAy the word and I can have an invisible demon scope them out and get the intel on everything.

Raven was out patrolling the streets,. Things had just been to quiet for her after the riots and NOVA dethroning situation. She hadn't been contacted by the Avenging League and She was sure that that the Titans were going to be a thing for a while, so she went on and did her thing for a little bit. Until they needed her powers to create more 'stones' or something else. It didn't necessarily anger her that they wanted her to tap into all types of magic to do things for them, but it did make her sad that she wasn't ever 'truly' in the loop even when she was a big help with them taking down NOVA. But that was neither here nor there. She did get to meet a mutant that she seemed to have a peaked interest in.  But after the day of meeting them she never really got to see him again.
Raven had had shit luck with guys, so could she truly really be surprised at this point - so she just ended up rolling with the punches. She continued walking, but something seemed off to her. It was as if something was going to happen and she wasn't sure what yet. As she looked around she came into the presence of someone with a glowing firehead. Her heart fluttered a bit, not in the super in love way, but she was definitely happy to see the other there. "Jono?" She called with a bright smile on her face.

Joey: I had a feeling you'd say that.
Joey: I appreciate it, though.
Joey: It's a long story but basically, some miscreant was hooking up with my brother. I found out that he was using him to get revenge on someone who turned him down before. Either way, I'm hoping Grant isn't still seeing him.
Raven: Then you should already know then, sir.
Raven: Wait-what?
Raven: I hope Grant would have enough dignity to not continue seeing the male. Do you want me to do some digging? Send a demon after him to keep tabs on him? Or should I just go kick his ass?

Joey: The thing is I'm the wrong person to ask. I'm not the type to leave my home unless it's for work or something.
Joey: A spa? If it's an excuse to hang out with you, that's fine with me.
Joey: Besides, I could use the distraction right about now.
Raven: Too bad, because I will summon you if I have to. Don't play with me.
Raven: No it's an excuse for me to treat us.

Raven sighed, because she wished that the town would just chill out for a bit. She was tired of there being constant issues going on in the city. But she blames her lack of wanting to fight crime all the time on the fact that the ban took her out of commission for a while. She had gotten too cosy with living the quiet and action free life. But she picked up the beat within seconds of returning to the city.
She had just finished facing a gang of upcoming villains - they had one with some new fighting technology, one with fire bolts, and another that could conjure up demons to do his biding. Needless to say she had just finished a tough fight, especially since the younger kids were a lot more reckless than the older villains, because they just didn’t give a fuck.
She sighed entering an empty street, holding at one of the cuts she had on her hand. She looked up when she saw someone familiar. “Faust?” She looked at the other with a curious expression. She hadn’t see the male since the incident with the perps. “How have you been?” She asked him with a curious expression and bright smile on her face.
In the time that had passed since NOVA had been purged from Star City, Faust had taken it upon himself to get acquainted with this City’s most recent history - questioning anyone willing to answer and reading every available news source he could find on the matter. Understanding what had brought the City to this point, everything made heaps more sense to him.
The sorcerer was crossing the City, returning from the home of a rather unfortunate young soul that thought summoning a demon of Lust was the proper way to coerce someone into loving him before realizing far too late his mistake. Faust had taken care of the demon and notified the proper authorities on where they could find the young wizard’s body before leaving.
As he passed down the sidewalk that ran adjacent a wide, empty street the sounds of arguing caught his attention. You really shouldn’t get involved. It’s not exactly your ‘job’ - leave that to the vigilantes. His mind warned him, but his feet were already carrying him in the direction of the alleyway.

jxnxstvrmvr:
The darkness that overwhelmed the space between the apartment buildings felt different than a typical shadow. Jono could feel it in his bones. The scattered agents were then swallowed, overtaken by shadow creatures and pulled into the earth below. He could feel each one, just enough, psychically until they disappeared into the ether. His company’s power awed him and it was clear who’s side she was on, but he was still wary of the chill than ran down his spine.
Her whole presence was dramatic - billowing cape, dark magic, intimidating persona. It was all there, in plain black and purple. Some would say that Jono was dramatic - with the black leather, messy hair, and fire face - but he’d argue otherwise. Every time. While captivating, on some level, Jono was taken for another loop when she so effortlessly scooped up the remaining conscious agent and dangled him in front of him, like bait on a hook.
He cocked his head at the offering and soaked up her words, obviously very willing and wanting to teach this fascist a lesson. He’d be doing them all a service - one less fascist in the world and they’d be better off, right? Still, with the other agents gone and fucked off thanks to some shadow monsters, it felt slightly wrong to inherently burn this one to a crisp. Instead, and without a word, Jono reached out and socked the agent in the face, breaking his nose and knocking him out.
Jono shook his hand as he took a step back and gave the unconscious agent a nod, though his eyes were on the woman. “There’s his lesson,” he started and lifted a hand so he could begin to rewrap his bindings. His eyes then lowered and he lifted a brow, the other partially covered by his matted bangs. “Ah, he’s pissed himself,” Jono then nodded as he finished up the coverings around his face. “Yeah. Definitely his lesson.” A pause. “Thanks for the, uh, help, luv. That was a neat trick.”
--- ||
Raven was sure that the other was probably looking at her crazy – especially since she had not been in the public’s eye for nearly five years. She would not even be surprised if he had no idea who she was, but she couldn’t let the assholes take advantage of the man. Her powers were from a demon aka her father, so she was sure that it was intimidating and the black aura glowing at her hands often scared others, but it was the nature of her powers – but she had nothing but great intent with them. But Raven was amazing and would never hold herself back when it came to saving lives.
She looked at the male with a soft expression – because it looked like his entire face was covered in flames and she hadn’t turned on her empathetic abilities, so she didn’t know if he was in pain and just good at not showing it. But she was planning on asking him that – otherwise he looked healthy and extremely in shape. She snapped out of it, because she still had to remember that she didn’t know the guy or what he was about just yet. So she still had to keep her guard up, because it could be a set up. Even though she really doubted that.
“Love when that happens.” Raven replied back in her monotonic voice. But it was true, she did get joy when the attacks, thugs, and bad guys were taken by surprise and pissed on themselves. Raven tried to hide a snicker of laughter, not wanting to give up her stoic persona around the stranger just yet. Sure that they were going to go through the getting to know each other a little more phase before they would be laughing and joking – especially with everyone being on high alert. She walked closer towards the male and cocked her head softly.
“Thank you. But your trick… is that something that just burns nonstop?” She was curious, because she wanted to see if she could help the male at all, her powers could do a lot and she would do a lot. “Even when it is raining and such?” She asked the other with a soft expression, because she didn’t want to come off too abrasive with him, because she knew that she could come off as extremely blunt sometimes and that was something she knew wouldn’t be good especially with someone she just met.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------////
Raven had decided that it was best for her to just patrol and keep the crowd under control. She knew that she did not have much of a role like the Avenging League, even though she did make the charms that they were going to, or were already, use.  So, she decided that she would keep the streets safe. Her empathetic abilities were on high alert – many were angered, outraged, and disrespected, but their actions were enticing the fright and sadness in others. She was not too in tune with her emotions, she tried to shut them off a lot, but at times like this when there was mass hysteria – the power kicked in in high overload. But she was able to get some of the people back home – but some took her showing her demonic form and scaring them back to their homes. She was not having time for the foolishness tonight – although she did miss superhero work.
She came across a man that was getting jumped by agents and she quickly landed a few feet away, to see how the scene would play out, before she had to jump into the scene. Seeing the man’s guitar there and the male now on his knees. It was showing their cowardice ways. But soon the man… flames, shot up and it was as if gasoline was pored onto a burning fire and made it shoot up. She was watching the dumpster simply… melt. This was amazing to her, because the way that he looked was something that made her wonder if the male was in pain. Or if his body would ever return to normal, but she felt that it would not since he seemed to have always been ablaze. The man had some combat skills and it was amazing to her how he held his own with just a guitar. She did wonder if he knew how to use his fire offensively, but that was something that she could ask him later.
She smiled as the agents were getting knocked on their asses left and right. She watched as the new agent came up behind the male and saw the weapon. But it was not a normal weaponed. It looked specialized and that was something that she could not let the other get hit with, especially since they did not know what all the weapons did. An eerie feeling came over the alley way, while shadows lifted from the ground in the shape of demons and sucked the knocked-out agents into the ground. They were not stuck there, but the shadow figures mostly likely dropped them off in random locations. Raven’s purple cape dragged the ground, as she walked forwards. Lifting her hand up into the air, the weapon was snatched from the male’s hand with telekinesis. The absent black aura appeared around Raven’s hands – lifting the man up into the air.
‘Argh!’ The man yelled in pain, as dark objects teleported in and out around his body. “Did you want to teach him a lesson too?” Raven asked the male by here, sure that he wanted to show the man some pain and fright that he was trying to show Jono.  Raven twisted her hand, causing the agent to be face to face with Jono. “Think you should… he definitely looked like he wanted to kill you. Didn’t you.” Raven glared at the man, who screamed ‘yes’ in pain.
@ravenrothx; punching fascists
Jono wasn’t that strong as a telepath - he had some level of ability, but it wasn’t enough to detect the agent behind him. He’d been distracted by the few in front of him, the trio hell bent on rallying up straggler mutants. The ones that were injured or lost. The agent behind him hit him in the head, knocking him down to his knees. Jono could feel the guitar being ripped from his person and the heavy and brutal sound of it being slammed against the asphalted ground. He could hear the splinters bounce and ricochet - he felt some of them hit him in the back, their speed only halted by his black, leather duster.
His scarf and bindings had been removed to expose his biokinetic flame, its color an angry red and orange; its flames licked up his cheeks and out from beneath his coat. The cavity in the middle of his chest and up his throat to his mouth was smothered by the fire, invisible to the observer. He saw red - literally and figuratively. Anger overwhelmed him. His fire swelled over him, growing to exponential heights and consuming the dumpster beside him. Its metal melted to a soup as did the agent’s weapon. The rest of him went, too, in an energy blast. Jono reached back to grab a hold of the neck of the guitar, half of its body still attached. Its strings were frayed at the end and curled in dangerous directions.
He could hear the other agents nearing him, their footsteps louder as they drew close, weapons already drawn and pointed at him. Jono’s fire grew again as he stood to his feet, a wet pat of oil having left traces on his knees. He weighed the guitar in his hand, as if it were a baseball bat - he would have grinned if he had a mouth. With some concentrated effort, he exerted a concussive force that knocked the agents onto their backs. Some burned, and some didn’t want to stay dead. Jono took care of him with the remaining half of the guitar. Still, it was just in his luck that he found himself at the end of a loaded weapon.
He was told to put the ‘weapon’ down. No, commanded. Domineered. Threatened. Jono hated all of it, really, but he really hated being told what to do. Especially from flat-scans like them. Still, he could feel the cold steel on the back of his neck, and even though it might not kill him, it was going to hurt like a mother. So he held off, if only for the moment.

Joey couldn’t fight the grin that remained intact on his expression, reminiscing on his brief time with the Titans. How long had it been, he wondered. He and Raven were far removed from their teenage years, which were admittedly a tumultuous time for them.
Had it not been for her, among others involved in the Titans, he would have further descended in his grief. But now that Grant had miraculously returned, there was a sense of calmness that followed. Eventually, he realized he had stopped paying attention to his work, absent-minded gaze anxiously waiting for Raven’s texts that he needn’t waste his time on his client. He turned off the tablet and set it on the coffee table, scanning the contents of the latest texts before typing up an immediate response.
[Text 13:51] A grudge? You know I’m not that type of guy. To that, I’d be more than happy to express my gratitude in several languages, flattered that you’d offer to have steak with you.
[Text 13:52] ASAP works for me. Just tell me where to go and I’ll be over with some champagne.
Tumblr media
Joey was a rare gem. Someone that had Raven smiled without even thinking or knowing that she was. She turned her head and moved to add some milk to the mashed potatoes - following a recipe that was playing on her tablet from the YouTube app.
She was even on the edge of her seat, metaphorically, waiting for him to message back. But she felt that he would soon grow tired of her. But Joey surprised her when he didn’t. When he texted back and his enthusiasm never faltered an ounce. Raven moved to start up the next steak, when she heard the phone bleep again. She got the steak settled into sizzling in the pan - wiping her hands all over again to get to the phone.
[Text 13:51] I know you aren’t. You are actually the sweetest guy around here. And I am so happy to have a chance to be your friend. So it’s honestly amazing to have you over and having steak with me.
[Text 13:52] Ooh champagne, now you are really speaking. I knew you had great taste after all! Never doubted you for a second.

“You came here on Dick Grayson’s word alone, with no knowledge of who I am or what I do? That type of blind trust gets people burned. Question things for yourself. I’m no secret.” There was nothing subtle or understated about the things he’d done, and it wasn’t as if he’d been silence during his tenure in Star City. There she was, all the same. They needed her for her one thing. Maybe she could at least leave him assured those were within her grasp.
“Who Magneto is depends on who you ask. I’ve been a terrorist and a monster, according to many, and a savior to the ones that actually matter. What I do, however I do it, is for the sake and survival of my people.” He lifted his hand to indicate District X around them. There were others there besides mutants, but it was for the mutants that he’d always acted and would continue to. “NOVA is the latest in a long line of threats. They’re the familiar disease humanity spreads again and again, trying to eliminate what makes them feel lesser. I want them gone, by whatever means necessary.”
“No. No.” Raven said calmly. “Those that try to burn me - end up dead.” She stated, unbothered and still looking forward. “Dick knows what I am capable, which is why I’m guessing you are meeting with me. I know what Dick is capable of and what he stands for.” She continued to walk and wondered what was going on. “I do remember... you were pretty chaotic, right?” She had been in the past as well - probably why they both seemed like they were playing poker and trying to guess each other’s bluff. “You can do great things, I can do great things. We are no different.” Raven never overestimated people, but never underestimated them either.
‘For the survival of my people’. Something within that sentence touched her, causing her to drop her head, so the poker face, of hers, dropping wouldn’t be super noticeable. She wondered if her people even cared for her. But Demons usually cared for themselves and sometimes the people of Azareth were complicated. “Guess same about me... I’ve been the Devil’s Spawn, Abomination, Demon girl...” And those didn’t even come close to what she’s been called. When he said by ‘any means necessary’ her head quickly looked up at him, because she knew what that meant. “By any means necessary.” She agreed with him. “How can I help.”

Raven sighed as she came across a scene that seemed to have been looted. This was getting tiring and she was honestly ready to just do something wide scale and put everyone into sleep or a emotion induced coma. But she knew that wasn’t the way to go about things and she had to talk with everyone and try to reason with them, so they would learn from everything they did wrong. She walked to the scene and examined the damage. Shaking her head, she knew it wasn’t worth wasting the magic on to repair everything.
She quickly turned around when she heard the other’s voice. She could feel his distaste and wondered if it was aimed towards her. She looked over towards him and cocked her head. “Did I do something to upset you?” She asked curiously and wondered why such distaste. Her sweater-cape dragging down on the ground while she gave him her full attention.

If this were another time, JJ might have taken advantage of the chaos. There were ways to do it. The best time to carry out a plan was when everyone was distracted. Being acutely aware of this and feeling nothing but awareness of a missed opportunity made him realize just how separate he was from the world around him. It made things inconvenient and that was it. He couldn’t go to the store and buy anything without running into disorderly insanity.
There was something distasteful about it. He left the looted convenience store after leaving money on the counter, pausing just outside the door when he saw an unfamiliar figure. “You missed them. I don’t know which way they went.” JJ had an automatic distaste for heroes in their capes. Men like Batman and Superman were no more heroic than anyone else just because they had the resources and ability to deliver “justice.”

Raven hadn’t worked with many of the members at all or in a long time, so she was sure that the heroes had doubts about her work and some even her credibility - but unfortunately she knew the dark arts always worked for her or her father’s favor. Which is still what worried her, because he was getting louder in her head. But right now they had other issues to work out. Raven tried to use darker magics with light magics in the charms - because lighter magics wouldn’t surpass magic inhibitors - but the darker magics held no boundaries and would surpass them. She wanted everything to go smoothly - because she would hate to disappoint Dick, Bruce, and even the ‘Magneto’ man. An eyeroll coming when she thought about the last male.
She was shocked to run into Batman, figuring that he would have been busy with so much and not able to be seen at the moment. Raven respected not being directly apart of the League, which wouldn’t stop her from helping anyway she could. “They will hold up.” She had much respect for Batman - but she knew her magic and what it could do. “No worries. I know I’ve been away for a long time, but my values are still the same and I am with you guys all the way.” She was extremely loyal and going to make sure that their mission went through with success.

@ravenrothx
Raven’s charms were integral to the missions, but Bruce had little doubt in her capabilities. He knew her magic would be powerful enough to create the illusions necessary to infiltrate NOVA. That didn’t mean he didn’t have fail-safes in place. There was always a chance of something going wrong. Magic wasn’t reliable enough for him, he couldn’t fully trust it, even though it was magic that kept the Batcave hidden.
He ran into her close to NOVA’s headquarters. Throughout the day he’d received small updates over the comms from the other groups and their progress. The first step of the mission was still in progress, but so far things were going smoothly. He thought she had earned the right to know; even though she didn’t have a comm, she was still technically part of the leage. It was during a rare moment of quiet when he did turn to her, frowning despite the good news. “They have been successful so far, but the hardest part is yet to come.” The words were vague enough that if someone were to overhear, they could interpret it in a variety of ways. “Thank you. For what you’ve done.”
