For International Women's Day, I wanted to give a shout-out to this Insanely Smart & Beautiful International Woman. She was raised in a very poor part of India, where folks hardly spoke English at the time. Coming from that, to where she is now... An Entrepreneur, incredible leader, software architect, was one of the top people at a Fortune-50 company successfully leading a team of hundreds of insanely smart and hard-to-manage brainiacs, taking our company to new heights and becoming the face of DigitalAccessPass (DAP), relentlessly pursuing greatness, passionately committed to our users and our community, never taking a day off (working with her team from a hotel room even on vacations while my kids and I are having fun, watching a movie in the hotel room or in a nearby theater), a software developer, author, speaker, podcaster and a brilliant digital marketer. A top-3 ranker in our Computer Science and Engineering college, scoring 100% in Math, incredible IQ, she was always "The One" for me. And the craziest thing is, that she never once complained in her life about all of the actual racism, sexism, a woman's glass ceiling that she has probably crashed into like a thousand times, never whined about the opportunities she has never had due to this sexist, patriarchal, male-chauvinistic society that we live in (I too have been guilty of contributing to that somewhere along the line)... Things that are so naturally unfair to women in every-day life, that some guys don't even realize it, as it's ingrained in our cultures and society. So I just wanted to raise my glass, and tip my hat, to amazing girls and women everywhere in the world, for doing what they do, for the thankless heroes they are... To my precious baby Rhea who has grown into an incredibly beautiful, independent, self-confident girl, pursuing her own Computer Science degree. And to my Dame in Shining Armor, my Wonder Woman, who is a 1000% mentally and physically stronger than me, and has rescued me in this life more times than she will ever know, and I can thank her for. 5 Myth-busting Facts about Blood Donation: . 1) Millions of people around the world need blood every day, due to accidents, surgeries, treatments. So it's not something you donate only if there's an "emergency". Blood is required ALL THE TIME. So donate often. People's lives depend on you. . 2) You can donate blood even if you are diabetic (as long as it's under control, no eye/kidney complications etc.) . 3) You can donate blood even if you're vegan, have low/high blood pressure, have cholesterol, etc. . 4) Your life is not going to be diminished in any way just because you donated your blood. Your body will regenerate it pretty quickly (women know this already, they lose blood every month, after all!). You may have to take it easy for a day or so, but you can resume all exercise and sporty-activities like after a day. . 5) The needles used are same size as what they use for a blood draw (to test your blood at the doctor's office). It is not painful, and only a small amount of it is drawn. . People use all kinds of excuses so they can avoid thinking about donating blood. "I'm too young", "I am diabetic", "I'll lose too much blood" or whatever it is. . Don't be that person. Donating blood LITERALLY saves lives. . Start off 2019 the right way. . To strike Gold - or Oil - you have to Dig Deep, Not Wide. . 50 holes each 1 feet deep is useless. . You need to dig one hole that's 50 feet deep. .
