Spoon playing does have its secrets 😂😂 anyone can pick up a pair of spoons from the cutlery drawer and clack away but if you are playing for extended time you need to modify them to be comfortable. . . Also there is certain types of spoons 🥄 that give you different sounds. . . I am using my outdoor busking spoons that have a loud clack and are heavy an robust. . . Yacon rhizome getting planted out ... the original planting was a success learned a lot about what to expect from it as a crop and am happy to put it back in again. . . We thought we lost our naughty little bantam who keeps getting out of the pen . . Poor girl had a clutch of eggs stashed away outside the pen ... not sure if the eggs are fertile but she seems happy to be sitting there clucking away we will wait and see what happens. . . So happy the wedge tails that hang around here didn’t get here. . . We gave our rooster away last week to a local neighbor who needed a new young blood because he was knocking our girls around to much so if one of the hens go clucky we can get a dozen fertile ones from the roosters new flock he is strutting around with now. . . Considering the conditions we have had with drought,cold, wind and the shortage of funds to get enough good compost as starter beds for the strawberries 🍓 I am getting a few on now that are well worth the effort to pick,sort and pack. . . The only thing I put on these plants besides the covers is a natural foliar spray it’s a lot of extra work to keep them clean without insecticide and anti fungus spray but I would rather put in the work as opposed to the amount of toxic chemicals used in commercial growing of strawberries. . . Yacon is a versatile and gut friendly tuber. low GI , high water content and great for promoting a healthy gut garden. . . A tip for preparation and storage is clean and peel and place them in water in a container with a lid change the water regularly and they will last for quite awhile in. Cool spot. . . Here I am grating them into a bowl with our grain free flour mix, and pressure cooked black beans and lentils for patties . . Roll in tabioca flour place on oven paper or the reusable wraps and stick in the freezer and pull out when needed . . Dealing with shit ... a small downside of living independently of town services . . It’s an older style natures loo composting toilet but it works fine without being to difficult to manage. . . The way I do it is just to leave the full unit with its lid on in the sun until the other unit fills up, then tip the old one into a humanure compost pile that just gets left to brake down into usable compost for the flower gardens and trees. . . Middle of winter in SE Qld is not hard to take but if you enjoy a cold water swim it’s the only opportunity you get to experience a ocean water cold plunge. . . It’s one of the downsides of living country no access to the sea. I really enjoy swimming and the ocean water environment so it was a great experience for me to have a weekend adventure away to taste salt and sensory experiences that are not available to me in the lifestyle environment I am in. . .
