Exactly five years ago to this day, I came out. I've literally spent over a fourth of my life openly gay now, and it's such a relief. I live each day comfortably without the constant worry that someone is going to find out or someone is going to judge me. To anyone still out there who is concealing the truth from those around them or anyone who has recently come out and is facing great adversity, remember that it DOES get better. I went through hell to get here. And now that I'm here, I would never turn back. Love, peace, and afro grease.

Drummer Vision.
So, Muldoon’s is working on a few covers to extend our set when we play bars. Today we accomplished skeleton outlines of “Megalomaniac” by Incubus and “Fat Lip” by Sum41. I’m particularly excited about Fat Lip because Jamie and I are going to do dual-vocals.
It’s the small accomplishments, you know, building up and expounding or whatever. We have been getting into the habit of recording our practices and Skitch is riding around listening to his mixes right now. I should have a few videos of the instrumentals soon.

Here’s a little pic of a particularly significant entry in my journals “Purpose for the Pain”… I remember that day. I remember being coked out of my mind, coming down, mind racing, body aching, wondering how the hell I would ever get out. I was well aware that I was trapped, reliving this redundant and painful ride, sick and tired and feeling so incredibly hopeless. The words circling the eye simply repeating, “I am stuck in a vicious cycle.” My god. …and I know damn well I’m not the only person who has ever felt stuck, believed they were destined or doomed to circle over and over right down the drain. I know too many people who have chosen to end it having lost all hope, too dizzy to see that there was indeed a way out, a sanity to be obtained. One of the inserts I’ve been sticking in the customized journals is my response today, “You are only stuck if you think you are.” I often need reminding of this, I often get so frustrated hearing others speak this lie over themselves, or give up on the people struggling around them. You are never stuck. You can break the cycle. Bring it full circle, into something beautiful, something new, we’ll fall again, we’ll travel the same bumpy paths… but also, we can break out into these gracious and inspiring loops and spirals and zig zags and jump off the damn page. You make your story, you decide… Perspective is everything. You are free when you choose to be, no matter what that looks like.
