{ &. __ FINN : CLOSED STARTER FOR ( @renegvdex )
NOMI HAD ALWAYS KNOWN THAT THE FIRST ORDER WASN’T THE ONLY SIDE TO HAVE ITS LEGENDS. No, that honor went both ways for anyone that was willing to sacrifice everything for their cause ––––––– and if anything, she considered herself pretty damned lucky to fly alongside one of them. But Poe Dameron wasn’t the only renowned fighter in the Resistance, and though she hated to admit it, Nomi only knew the others in passing. She would have liked to change that ––––––– but it would take time and encounters under the right circumstances.
❝ Kriff ! ❞ Her mind is so lost in a train of endless thoughts that her eyes fail to catch the oncoming person before their collision in the hallway. ❝ Hey, watch where you’re ––––––– ❞ She pauses, eyes widening as she begins to realize who exactly it was that she had bumped into.
❝ Holy varp. ❞

{ &. __ CIENNA BUR’RIN: CONT. FROM ( X )
Impressed was certainly not a word Cienna would ever use to describe her reaction to the pilot’s antics. “I’m sure you could have very easily, Nomi.” Cienna replied, unimpressed. “One way or another it seems you’re attempting to give me a heart attack.” Cienna nudged her friend, going over to look at the wreck of a ship, not even sure where to start on the hunk of junk.
“Don’t need to remind me that there’s a war, it’s all that’s on everyone’s minds.” She said back to Nomi. “I don’t know, knowing you you might just crash it again somehow.”
❝ ––––––– THEN I’D BE DOING MY JOB CORRECTLY. ❞ She mused with a small smile, not waiting for the other’s approval before picking up a welding torch. In truth, she didn’t know what she would have done with the item, and Cienna’s confounded look didn’t help either. But it wasn’t the first time that she’d wrecked her ship by attempting new maneuvers, and it certainly wouldn’t be the last time. The Resistance wouldn’t have gotten to where it is if it refused to adapt and emerge from its comfort zone.
❝ HEY. ❞ She nudged the mechanic back in a loving way. ❝ FOR THE OFFICIAL RECORD, I DIDN’T CRASH IT. ❞ There’s a sheepish look in her eyes as she smirks before her next statement.
❝ IT COMBUSTED MID-FLIGHT. ❞

poe looked up when she placed her hand on his shoulder. _can’t when them all. _can’t win any·as of late. no, since starkiller, it had just been loss, after loss after–
running a hand through his messy curls, he let out a long sigh. she was rght, putting their pilots, of which they ony had a few, in danger was something they couldn’t risk now, especially not until they got more of a squadron put together.·
“yeah- yeah,” he mumbled, leaning back n his seat,·“i don’t know how to make sure we have wexley and kun covered, we’re short a ship-” well, more than _a ship _but. anyways.·
“there has to be someway to shift it·‘round. we’ve had worse situations before and figured it out.”·
❝ ––––––– I KNOW ... I’VE RUN THE NUMBERS BUT WE’LL WORK THROUGH THIS TOGETHER, YEAH ?·❞ She sighed, looking deeply into the other’s eyes as if to provide some sort of comfort or reassurance in her words. Poe was right though, some rapid adjustments needed to be made to the formation to make up for their close-cut victory during the last battle·–––– something that was innovative and all-encompassing without sacrificing the overall mobility of the squadron.·
·❝ WHY DON’T WE RUN A BOX FORMATION –––– ?· TWO IN THE FRONT, TWO IN THE BACK, AND ONE IN THE CENTER.·❞ She almost fumbles to snatch a nearby holo-pad as she begins to illustrate her plan.· ❝ THE TWO IN THE FRONT ACT AS EYES, AND THE TWO IN THE BACK PROVIDE PROTECTION FOR THE PILOT IN THE MIDDLE.·❞** **Perhaps·she was speaking too fast but without her thoughts in constant motion, she was afraid she would lose it altogether.·❝ IF WE REPOSITION WEXLEY AND KUN TO BE OUR REAR PILOTS, AND THE TIE FIGHTERS START TAGGING THEM, THE PILOT IN THE MIDDLE DROPS BACK TO ELIMINATE THE THREAT ... GIVING THE FORMATION TIME TO REGROUP AND REPOSITION.·❞ The whole illustration is elaborate, complex, and most of all, messy. But it was a start, and surely Poe would know what to make of her suggestion.·

{ &. __ KALANI LINRYDE: CONT. FROM ( X )
Her amber eyes were steeled, looking as if they were really jewels cut from stone with the way she held her head with such suspicion. She wanted to snort at the explanation. Unless Nomi, too, had picked up the bag that was handmade with her specific instructions on Corellia as a favor – she doubted the girl’s explanations. No matter, she needed to put on her nice face. She did want to get paid after everything was said and done.
“Right, yes. apologies.” Her accent seemed to thicken as she spoke in monotone, rolling her eyes to the back of the head.
“We all have our reasons, anyhow. Just put my bag down and this can all be forgotten.” Well, it wouldn’t, but Kalani could at least act like it, she told herself. Nomi didn’t seem like the type of person to really be malicious unless someone warranted it.
THERE WAS STILL UNDOUBTEDLY A SENSE OF UNEASINESS THAT LINGERED IN THE AIR ––––––– but after what Kalani had just caught Nomi doing, there wasn’t anything else to be expected of it. In retrospect, she probably should have double-checked before opening but there wasn’t much time and Nomi had grown rather impatient over the past week while waiting for the dead drop.
❝ THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING ... ❞ Nomi tries to ignore the other’s facial expressions as she continues. ❝ DONE. THE BAG IS ALL YOURS. ❞ She continues, setting the bag down gently against the bench all the while wondering where her intended bag could have went. Perhaps it hadn’t arrived yet –––– she’d wait a little longer anyhow.

{ &. __ MARA JADE: CONT. FROM ( X )
“Whatever’s in demand.” She was being vague, yes but not untruthful. “Nothing sinister. Everyone always assumes I’ve got something up my sleeve.” Mara spoke more to herself than to Nomi. As if she could blame anyone for being suspicious of her. Her whole life dealt in grey areas.
“I chose you, because we have a lot in common.” Mara really didn’t have a speech prepared. This was taking a lot longer than she’d planned for. “Look, do you like money, or not?” The question was not rhetorical, auburn brows raised in anticipation.
Mara laughed at both Nomi’s question, and the introduction of her own blaster. “Did….I not introduce myself?” Always assuming of course, that word got around about Mara and her….duties. “It was my job to know things, about everyone. I was a ghost- and I haunted more halls than you could possibly imagine.”
“You don’t need that.” Mara didn’t look down, but she referenced the weapon in Nomi’s hand.
❝ ––––––– AND WHAT COULD I POSSIBLY HAVE IN COMMON WITH THE FIRST ORDER’S MOST WANTED FUGITIVE ? ❞ Nomi fires back, still unconvinced that this wasn’t a ploy to get her to lower her guard. But still, the other wasn’t wrong –––– she did miss some credit-heavy luxuries that were previously afforded to her while she was under the First Order’s care. Furthermore, it wasn’t the fact that the other hadn’t introduced herself but rather that she had introduced herself –––– which is what put Nomi in such a guarded state.
❝ FINE. ❞ Nomi lowered her weapon, her mind telling her repeatedly that if Mara wanted to end her life, she could have done so with a snap of her fingers. ❝ BUT TELL ME A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THE OUTFIT THAT I’LL BE RUNNING WITH. ❞ She’s curious as to whether her investigation would yield results –––– after all, she wasn’t about to agree to join Mara’s crew with the possibility of running into ghosts from her past.

{ &. __ JYN: STARTER FOR ( @sergexnterso )
THEY WERE LOSING THE WAR ––––––– or that was a sentiment held by many in the Resistance as of late. In truth, Nomi didn’t blame them. The Resistance had suffered loss after loss not just on the soil but in the skies as well –––– and unless their leaders found a way to change the tide of battle quick, Nomi was worried that the Resistance’s fire might burn out.
But the Rebel Alliance had suffered losses too during the Galactic Civil War, and if they were able to stick through it, then the Resistance wasn’t down and out just yet. The same kind of spirit was mirrored in Jelucan, where despite their reliance on the First Order for resources, still held sentiments for the rebellions of old. There was a saying that she had picked up there, though she couldn’t quite remember it at the moment. Perhaps it was due in part to the outrageousness of the mission that had just been assigned to them –––– a surefire sign that the Rebellion was beginning to become desperate.
Nomi’s so lost in her thoughts as she exits the briefing room that she doesn’t even stop to notice her surroundings nor does she stop to think before the words escape her mouth.

{ &. __ KALANI LINRYDE: CONT. FROM ( X )
THE WHOLE THING WAS A BLUR TO HER ––––––– and for a moment, Nomi found herself staring at the other with utter guilt. If she were to be honest, the fact of the matter was that there were particular protocols in place for Resistance members to follow during information acquisitions —- dead drops to be more specific. But nothing was ever that simple —- especially not when that person was Kalani Linryde.
❝ Seriously Kalani —- ? Plasma and trinkets ? I guess I thought you were more interesting than you really are. ❞ She mused, her accent still distinctly Imperial despite all the time she’s spent with the Rebellion. ❝ Look —- I don’t want any trouble. ❞ She shudders slightly, hands reaching slowly out of the bag to place themselves in front of her defensively. ❝ It’s a simple misunderstanding. I thought this bag was mine —- I have one just like it. We’ll sort it out. ❞ There’s a slight pause in her voice as she attempts to reason her way out of this.
❝ Besides —- what reason would I have to find something to use against you anyways ? I’m not a spy ( anymore ). ❞

“Shh! Hide here, and don’t move a muscle.”
TERRIBLE FIRST MEETING: ( STATUS: OPEN )
❝ What !? How dare you, I —- ❞ Nomi attempts to scream with muffled protest as she’s shoved into a closet. Was this how she had imagined the information exchange would go down ? Absolutely not. But did she expect the situation to go any better ? ( Probably not. ) So it wasn’t a surprise to her that things ended up the way they did —- especially when she was dealing with mercenaries.
In spite of her better judgement, she wanted more than anything to emerge from her ( rather improvised ) hiding place to handle the talks herself. But the newcomers seemed less-than-friendly, and this was probably something to be handled by the professional that the Resistance had hired.
❝ Kriff. ❞ She muttered to herself, keeping her voice down as she peered outwards from the crack between the doors.

IT certainly wasn’t the first time that Nomi has had these late night talks with Poe, and it certainly wouldn’t be the last. If anything, the Resistance tactics needed constant care and adaptation to remain ahead of the First Order. After all, rebel pilots far too often prided themselves with their trademarks of technique, wit, and the element of surprise when pulling off the impossible.
❝ Sure. ❞ Nomi scoots over next to the other, rubbing her temples slightly as she shifts her attention to the flight plans. ❝ It might be that the formation is too difficult to maintain. ❞ She breaks the silence after studying it for some time. ❝ If the pilots can’t handle it, then we shouldn’t force them into that situation. Especially since we’re limited on the number of pilots that we have. ❞ She smiled, placing a hand on Poe’s shoulder.
❝ We can’t win’em all, Commander. ❞

“Wh-who are you? Where are we? Why are we tied up together?! “You almost killed me, so no, it’s not nice to meet you.” “Oh my god, are you okay? Should I call an ambulance?” “I wondered when you were going to wake up. You almost didn’t survive.” “Get out of my way before I move you myself.” “Please, let me out of here!” “You’re staring like you’ve never seen a [monster/vampire/demon/etc] before.” “Hey. Pretend you were waiting for me. You’re being followed.” “You don’t know me, but something terrible is going to happen.” “You’re in the wrong place at the wrong time.” “Please, someone help!” “You shouldn’t be out here all by yourself this late at night.” “Stop shining that flashlight on me! I’m not a damn ghost!” “I’m sorry if I hurt you.” “Shh, don’t scream! I’m not trying to attack you!” “I’ve never seen anything like you before.” “Stand right there and don’t get any closer!” “Now that you’ve seen this, I can’t let you leave and just tell anyone.” “Ugh, my head. What happened to us?” “Is there a reason you’ve been following me for an hour?” “If you come near me, I will scream at the top of my lungs.” “Holy shit. What have you done?!” “Is that blood? Is that YOUR blood?” “Don’t panic, I can explain!” “I promise you, this isn’t what it looks like.” “I won’t hurt you if you just keep your mouth shut.” “Who are you? Where are you taking me?!” “This is for your own safety. I’ll explain later.” “What the hell was that thing back there?!” “There’s something wrong with me. I need your help!” “Please, someone, there’s been an emergency!” “You can’t leave. You’re a witness and now you’ve involved.” “I’m being hunted, and now they’ve seen you too.” “If you believe in any god, I suggest praying to them now.” “Shh! Hide here, and don’t move a muscle.” “Can I walk with you? I think I’m being followed.” “I’m so sorry. I don’t like tricking people, but I had to lure you here.” “Fuck off, this is private property!” “I’ve seen some weird shit, but you’re something else.” “Oh my god. Are you a [monster/demon/angel/etc]?” “Don’t look at me like that, with those eyes.” “That isn’t your blood. What did you do?” “I promise not to tell anyone, just let me go!” “Come with me. I want to show you something.” “You’re not going to eat me, are you?” “You should never have approached me. You don’t know who you’re dealing with.” “Go away, I’m not looking for a conversation.” “You don’t just follow people to their homes! I’m calling the police.” “Please, I’ll do anything, just untie me!” “I’m sorry if I scared you.” “I had to tie you up. You didn’t leave me any other choice.” “I don’t even know you. What do you mean, I ‘have’ to go with you?” “We almost died back there. Maybe we should introduce ourselves.” “Let go of me!” “I’m hurt. Please, I need you to call an ambulance for me.” “You have to come with me, something bad is about to happen!” “I’m not leaving until you tell me why you’ve been following me!” “Seeing as we may not survive, I should tell you my name. It’s [name].”

{ &. __ NADIA. ( EVENT )
“Holy shit,” Nadia cursed, her eyes trained on the Cardinal. She had no reason to disbelieve the powerful woman, and she had every reason to be afraid of the rest of the world. “Can you believe it? We need to be vigilant. Don’t you think?”
While having an influential parent in the Healthcare faction didn’t make matters better, it did keep Amber more informed than others when it came to such problems. Though it wasn’t her responsibility to keep others as well informed as her, she wanted Nadia to be at the very least, comforted and calm.
❝ Just because we haven’t talked about it in a long time, doesn’t mean that we’ve become any less vigilant. ❞ She smiled warmly. ❝ I’m sure the researchers are working tirelessly to find a cure for this mess. ❞

{ &. __ FLYNN. ( EVENT )
As the remarks finished, Flynn inched away from the people around him, trying to get away from the germs anyone might be carrying. He suddenly wished he had a bandana to cover his face. “Are we all supposed to just stand here and pretend to be excited about some movie after that? I don’t feel very united at the moment.”
There was a pang in her heart shortly after the Cardinal had finished her remarks, and any previous remaining doubts she once harbored about the plague dissipated within a matter of seconds. But she kept herself level-headed; discord was now sewed into the masses as people grew increasingly doubtful of one another, which would ultimately lead an increased infection rate if someone was indeed infected here.
❝ Stop. ❞ Amber hissed, placing a hand on the shoulder of the man in front of her. ❝ The more you freak out, the more you’re going to cause others to freak out. ❞ She continued to whisper.
❝ The last thing we need right now is chaos and panic in the streets. Show some resolve, and the others will follow. ❞

{ &. __ LAYLAND. ( EVENT )
She scanned the crowd with optimism, eager to find a familiar face ( or body ) to keep her company while her date had seemingly stepped aside. In truth, she hadn’t expected much from the people around her —- everyone was just excited to have the sort of fun that they didn’t have time for in their normal lives. Amber didn’t blame them —- but it wasn’t as if she had forgotten about the warning signs of the plague either.
After about what seemed like five minutes of observation, she’d finally catch a glimpse of faintly recognizable facial features in the distance. It didn’t hurt to investigate, and she was certain that no one she knew ( to her knowledge at least ) was sick.
❝ How are you enjoying the festivities, Councilor ? ❞ She smiled, eyes beaming as she walked closer and closer to the other. @layland-marks
