rant | Let That Bitch Breathe

I kind of pride myself on the ability to dice up some vintage drum break.  I can't play instruments, but I have been dissecting booms and bap since '97, on the MPC2000.

  The trick is in this title.  You want to leave a little air (decay), slap a little gate on the whole track so it gives the front end some push (attack).  Then you pump that beat through a compressor, and sweeten the ears with a little reverb.  That's the trick.

inspiration

In the past month I have released two EP's, both containing old music.  However, a new project is in the works, and the thought is to press it on vinyl.  I have never pressed a record, so it's about time!  If there is any pre-curser to the theme, then I will let this gem do all the speaking.

In order to progress creatively, we must always willingly seek sources of inspiration.  I do this through travel, and through music of course.  Recently I stumbled upon this album.  It was so refreshing to hear, that I wanted to share with you.
