For the video on Motion, I chose The Invisible Man trailer. In it, there are many uses of motion. In one scene the main character is standing outside in the cold, in this scene, the audience gets a sense of tension as she is performing stillness. Nothing is moving, causing an uneasiness until finally the surprising act of seeing a frosty breath from a place where no one stands. Then of course there blurred lines whenever there is a quick movement to show a need for a hurried motion. Then finally there is a ton of anticipated motion whenever there are scenes where the main character is looking at a certain place believing someone is there and they are about to move.

For the Pattern and texture video, I decided to use the No Time to Die trailer.  From the very beginning, we are introduced to the visual texture technique. We are first shown Bond driving through an older looking city. The texture of buildings and roads all giving a rough stone/brick look that gives them a look that it is older and rougher. Next, we transitioned into a scene of a more modern building. We know its modern because it is smooth with no stone or brick texture. Next, we have a scene where Bond goes through many memories of his past with a girl as acting like a collage. Snippets of things he went through in previous scenes. Finally, there seems to be a pattern of scenes mostly being in dimly lit places like dark hallways or clubs, but there times where it will switch to brightly lit places like outside in the sun and offices.

For the Space/Volume video, I chose the Black Widow trailer. With many scenery shots, it was easy to pick out many Space/Volume techniques. At first, it has many uses of vertical location to give a sense of things that are further in background than the ones in the front. Cars, buildings, etc. Then we are introduced to an exaggerated scale when we are shown a scene looking up some twisted stairs. Giving a sense of long and windy climb up ahead even though they are not that long. Finally there many aerial shots showing scenes filled with objects that could all fit into a landscape shot. They could only fit everything with an aerial shot.

With the Shape video, I decided to do the Jojo Rabbit trailer. Here we were introduced to many techniques of shape. We had uses of distortion with children fighting and jumping in the woods. These scenes were used to give a sense of unnatural to the main character or a sense of joy in specific movements.  There uses of curvilinear shapes when Hitler’s face on a poster was changing emotions rounding off a screaming face to a smiling rounded one. Then there's a scene in the main character’s bedroom that is filled with posters lined up straight and orderly using a rectilinear kind of technique. As if to show what are his interests.

For the color video, I decided to go over the Free Guy trailer. This trailer is filled with color design techniques, such as color balance, color properties, and emphasis with color. When Ryan Reynolds puts on the glasses for the first time, he is introduced to a game user interface. The images he is shown are highly saturated and have high intensities. Playing off the color properties to show a transition from boring, mundane to exciting and interesting. Then there's the emphasis by color. Here certain images are shown with a glowing color or a larger assortment of colors to show what to focus on first such as the medkit that glows with white and red to grab the audience's attention. Finally, there is the color balance. With the first scene of the glasses we have very vibrant and saturated colors but in every other scene without glasses, there’s more balance to make sure no attention is being taken away from what is going on.

For the value video, I chose the Black Christmas trailer. In it, we are shown an assortment of value techniques to give this horror movie a more chilling effect. In one part we are shown a CU of a girl standing outside looking into the camera. The space behind her is completely dark and has no colorful values to give the audience a chilling sense that the killer might behind her in the darkness, using value and space. Then there is a value contrast with vibrant colorful Christmas lights against a darker filter in the dark. As if to say even with a cheery holiday dark things can happen. Finally, throughout the trailer there is a sense of light and dark. Each scene will either be in a light decorated room or dark chilling space where there is little to no light.

This is the trailer for Rhythm, Birds of Prey. In in it we have the uses of many different types of rhythm. Alternating rhythm is used throughout the trailer with the visuals switching between dark and colorful. There is also progressive rhythm with scenes becoming more and more erratic as the trailer continues. Finally there is polyrhymic rhythm. As the scenes change there is the background song which works with the trailer to bring overall theme to this trailer.

Scale trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLiZpa7e-Rw
This is the trailer for “The Irishman”. In it we can see it filled with a whole bunch of uses of scale and proportion. Some of the very first uses were of geometry and the ideal. There are constant scenes where the character meant to be focused on is in the center of the screen or there was the courtroom scuffle where the fight took place in the lower left corner and expanded outwards like the golden rectangle. There was also use of contrast and scale where the a hotel’s size compared to other things made it look big and important. There was also use of human scale reference when scenes of men carrying these huge weapons on big trucks was shown. He we are able to tell that these things are quite dangerous.
Emphasis trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aq0o2C6LVE
This is the trailer for “The King’s Man”. Here we are given multiple uses of emphasis. The very first scene shown seems to show use of emphasize whole over parts where its a wide shot of a barren wasteland that seems to have been decimated to ruins. Easy to tell this no joke. There is another shot where it uses focus by eye direction to make the audience want to see what everyone is looking at. It is the scene where maids and butlers are standing lined up all look towards the camera as if looking what is approaching.  There also the use of placement when introducing a character, probably the villain. He is shown at the center of a ballroom with two girls on each side with everyone else at the sides circles around him.

Do you believe that when there is more contrast in a image or video, it grabs the audience’s focus more or when there is less contrast there is more focus?

How can emphasis be manipulated to change a person’s focus point from thing to another in order?
Can rhythm be used to portray an emotion or feeling so that the viewer will also express this emotion?

Contrast Trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isKzKEal5T0
For Contrast I watched the Knives Out second trailer. It was here where saw the contrast that happened throughout the trailer. The color was used to show dark and gritty as well as a formal aesthetic. It felt as if the trailer and the feeling was getting darker as the trailer went on. There was the music which started off eerie and slow to get this feeling of suspense. Then halfway through the trailer it switched to a more fast paced one to symbol a flurry of different things popping up. The motion of the people followed this path. At first mostly every scene has people just sitting down or standing in one place only the camera is moving, but then as the music changes so does the people. They start walking and doing other activities. The switch between each element of contrast really complements this trailer.
Unity Trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOC8E8z_ifw
For Unity I took a look at the Disney Mandalorian trailer. In this trailer I found a good sense of proximity right from the start. Each scene had many objects, but nothing was too close to each other. Everything had space between as to give the viewer a clear field of vision. They also had good continuation with the constant use of the music and horns throughout the trailer, even at the end. Every few scenes the horns would sound off giving an overwhelming pressure that was spilling out. Then there was the repetition which was used for feeling of the scenes. Each scene had this sense of seriousness. There were no jokes and everyone had the same face of focus and worry.

Do you believe that if one of the three components (Empathy,Ideate,Prototype), is stronger than the rest, there will unbalance and confusion through the creation process.
