@wcrstbehaviior
His eyes were puffy from crying the last two hours. He had only been able to pull himself together enough to receive a visitor, but they agreed that meeting in a common area was better than Theo’s room, considering it was a mess. A blanket pulled over his shoulders and a cup of hot cocoa in his hands, the brown-headed boy now faced Danny with both defeat and guilt. “I failed all of my courses,” he explained, head bowed. The steam from the hot chocolate wafted over his forehead and warmed his face. Despite their being inside, the winter cold somehow managed to keep seeping in, especially in the common areas where the heating was less concentrated. “My parents don’t care, but I just...” he shook his head. “A- and then, there’s...” he didn’t want to utter it, and he doubted that Danny even knew; Christmas Eve, and the anniversary of his death, was fast approaching.

Theo didn’t lie much, but when he did he at least tried to do so tactfully, so he just shook his head in response to the question but kept his mouth shut tightly. In truth, the black-eye was the first thing that he had noticed when he saw Daniel. It had caused his heart to miss a beat, or speed up, whatever that phenomenon was. He thought maybe the boy had gotten in a fight, the thought of someone hurting the boy sickened Theo to his core. “Makeup is what they use to do it in television,” he answered. “Have you tried that? Is wearing a pirate eye-patch out of the question?
“it’s not too noticeable, is it?” daniel asked, his tone entirely too positive, as he held out hope that his self-inflected injury wasn’t that bad. but, based on the level of pain and his genuine bad luck, something told him it was incredibly visible. “okay-okay, here’s a different question- any suggestions on how i can cover it up?”

The class was empty. Theo, hood pulled over his brown hair, sat on a stool at one of the benches, his backpack lying on the black tabletop. He had watched as time ticked away on the clock at the front of the classroom. With each passing minute, students left individually, or convinced by their friends to tag along. At the fifteen minute mark, most of the remaining bodies exited. Something about not having to stay for class when the teacher is fifteen minutes late or more. Theo was about to leave, too. Only his love for math was keeping him glued to his seat. He wasn’t good at it, necessarily, but rather loved to learn about it and practice it. When Mr. Parker finally barged into the room, Theo’s dark brown eyes slid away from the clock to the breathless man. He remained silent, though, waiting expectantly for Peter to recognize the emptiness of the classroom.
“make a hole people!” peter cried out, as he sprinted through the halls, brief case by his side. he couldn’t believe his luck, he already had to start the school year a couple of weeks late, and here he was, late to his first class. rather than coming to a stop and entering the classroom like a normal person, peter chose to sprint through the door, coming to a stop just inches from his desk. “hello!” he essentially yelled, as he desperately tried to catch his breath, “i’m peter parker and welcome to chemistry.”

“It almost sounds like you want something to happen,” Theo uttered with suspicion. His eyes narrowed slightly, though there was no real accusation behind his words. “If you want action, can’t you go stop some cat-burglars somewhere? I wouldn’t be wishing something disastrous on us, only because it’s so likely to come true. Maybe we should seize the inactivity of villains instead, and plan something. Like, a Halloween party,” he suggested. He touched the tips of his fingers together, stretching his fingers, always finding a way not to sit still. “There is nothing bad about a bit of quiet normality.”
“ it’s been quiet for TOO LONG. since when has this school gone so long without some attack or kidnapping ? either things are actually becoming somewhat… normal… or someone somewhere is planning something. OR - or something is happening right now under our noses. “ she wasn’t a leader. but she did hope to be one someday. only recently has she started to speak her mind instead of keeping everything buried.
as an x-men kid she knew to never think that things are quieting down. things could never be normal when the entire world feared them.

Theo didn’t like it. Theo didn’t like it one bit, and he furthermore couldn’t understand how the class got a kick out of it, either. Well, for one thing he wouldn’t enjoy a class called Weapons 101 to begin with, but walking by the classroom was a different story, and there was no way he could have avoided hearing the pop of the shots unless he were outside on the other end of campus. His knee-jerk reaction was to drop to the floor, cower, maybe roll into a ball, but he had gotten a lot better at handling that kind of thing. Rather, he had ducked upon hearing the sound, processed for a second or two before sprinting to get help. Active-shooter scenarios were nightmare fuel. He had got an administrator, and the ordeal blew rather out of proportion. Cops probably would have showed up, if the school weren’t already full of superheroes. Now Jason was trying to defend his actions to the administrator, Theo standing out of arm’s reach and trying not to look too accusatory. “Maybe there is also a lesson in not using firearms in a school,” he piped up.
‘ IN MY DEFENSE , the class got a kick out of it . ‘ jason speaks , trying to find any way to make it seem as though the fact he was in hot water was a terrible mistake . was firing his pistol in the middle of the full classroom and damaging school property a good idea ? hell no . did his students learn anything from it ? other than the fact that he was a very good shot , no . but he had a hell of a lot of fun and as did his students . besides , no one got hurt , so what’s the harm ? ‘ it’s weapons 101 not home economics . the lesson of the day ? never bet on me missing my target . ‘

“Never really big into pie,” Theo muttered, the oversize menu obstructing most of his facial features as he read over what the small dive had to offer. The booth around him felt much too large for one person dining by themselves, but it wasn’t exactly like the place was jumping. Besides, unbeknownst to Aspen, a ghost had settled himself down opposite Theo and was naming every single thing on the menu he’d like to try. “I wasn’t planning on going the dessert route. If I were, I’d look more into ice cream. But I really want some eggs and potatoes.”
“And what can I get you today?” Aspen spoke in a southern accent. She didn’t work at the diner, would not even consider working in such a place. But she had skills to keep up so she stole one of their uniforms and played waitress, waiting for someone to notice. “We got a special on apple pie today if that’s the sort of thing you are looking for.”

“Perhaps they want to make it seem more interesting. Although I don’t doubt that kids can get in somehow.” Halvor is thinking about it for a moment, as if he was debating this. He was about to get off work anyway so he could keep an eye on the kid. “You really want to see what it’s like inside?”
Theo blinked. “You’re not going to arrest me?” he asked, clearly under the impression that that’s what bouncers did. “Y-yeah, I do.”

Halvor hasn’t seen those type of movies, not that they had them back in his realm. “Well it’s my job if you want to get inside. Not everything I like the movies, but I have not seen them.” His gaze watching as the person takes a step back. There wasn’t a line behind them, so he relaxes his shoulders. “How old are you really?”
“Why would they make movies about real life so inaccurate?” he countered, though already accepting of the reality; he was not getting into this party. “Um. Nineteen.”

Theo had spluttered without coming up with a single comprehensible word for a while before silence fell upon him, staring wide-eyed at the woman reprimanding him. The boy wasn’t much of a trouble maker. In fact, he had never landed himself in trouble, even now, to the point where his name struck a chord of concern yet fondness among professors. Theo, being the closest person to the trouble when it went down, now looked completely guilty standing dumbstruck beside a soft-drink fountain which now poured out every soda endlessly, the trough below beginning to overflow. “I- It isn’t a good idea,” he finally said, staring at the accumulating mess.
“Are you being serious right now?” Rosario massaged her temples. “How in the world did you think that was a good idea?” There were times when Rosario thought that going into deep cover in the middle of Serbia would be much more enjoyable than dealing with the baby superheroes that called Paragon home. Or dealing with superheroes in general. She needed a fucking raise.

“Truthfully, I didn’t think you would check my ID. I thought most people didn’t do that kind of thing. That’s how it is in the movies at least. How come all those high schoolers get into clubs and get their hands on so much alcohol?” Theo rambled, taking a wary step backward, fearful that he might be arrested for trying to get into a club while underage. “I just wanted to see what it was like inside.”
”I can’t let you go in there.” Halvor says as he crosses his arms over his chest, gaze looking down at the other. “Give me one good reason WHY.”

Theo, no stranger to speaking to things that were not truly there, watched Andy with mingled curiosity and understanding, wondering if he should ignore it or continue to stare at the other unblinkingly. The latter option would probably make him come off as odd; too late, though, as the boy decided to mind his own businesses for a change the two gazes met and Theo’s face paled as he realized he was caught. “Were you-” Ridiculous to ask, truthfully, and jump straight to a very specific conclusion, if Andi were talking to ghosts, when there were plenty of other explanations. Instead, his question shifted mid-sentence. “Who were you talking to?”
sporting a nice fresh black eye, andi sauntered into the dormitories. for some weird reason, he also felt so powerful when there was blood on his face. he hadn’t intended to get into a fight but as he was leaving the liquor store he happened across a jerk who was trying to harass his date into kissing him and if he hadn’t gotten there sooner it would of probably gotten worse. he left with a black eye and that guy was left with his dick twisted almost clean off his body. punishment fights the crime but creature was still upset his plan wasn’t followed and he didn’t get to bite the dick clean off and stick it where the sun don’t shine. “ next time we run into a fucking creep, i promise i’ll let you bite his dick off - happy now? “ ‘ yes very, let’s go back so we can find one. ‘ “ how about i eat an entire pizza and take a nap ? “ ‘ … pepperoni? ‘ “ yes pepperoni, dude. “ the man replied, not remembering that usually he whispered in public to not cause a scene or have people think he’s insane. as he locked eyes with someone, he immediately pulled his phone from his pocket and pressed it against his ear, trying to play it off.

teddy rolled their eyes at theo, the motion being dampened by the grin on their face, and rolled his head back against the wall. “you really are a loser, huh? you’re lucky you’re cute.” teddy mumbled, no malice in his tone. if this all got awkward, the host could just blame it on being too tired to realise what they were saying. “how do you plan on unstressing me, hotshot? oh – and don’t think we ain’t gonna touch on the whole i’m fine thing later.”
Theo furrowed his brows. “No need to be rude. I am not a loser. I was super popular and cool. Arguably I am still cool.” He stretched out his legs and smiled over at Teddy. “I am pretty cute, huh?” he laughed, somewhat hollowly, just as was his faux-confidence. “Well, there’s plenty of ways to unstress. The owlets are an option. Swimming is pretty good at doing that too. Video games. Uhh,” Theo searched his brain for more options. “I don’t know. We could watch A Rebel Without a Cause. Do you still like to watch those old movies?”

Theo had squeezed his jaw tightly shut far earlier into the conversation than where they were at now, having sensed where this was going. The eminent demise of the earth was enough to make anyone uncomfortable, if they fully comprehended the implications of such a catastrophe. Theo was one such person, and his face had grown pale when the conversation topic arose. “Long term goals have never really mattered to those with short term interests,” he muttered in agreement, not wanting to let Ellie ramble on without reassurance that she was spitting the truth. “Do you think- maybe- we can just get back to talking about how cool Polar Bears are?”
