Two women get on a plane, but only one gets to go home. This is a unique story about a murder and the lengths people go to to justify their actions. This story is told through the POV of many characters: the killer, the friends, the co-workers, and the patsy. The author does an incredible job spinning the plates of this story in such a way that the reader doesn't know where to look. She masterfully plays with the reader's sympathies and expectations. The only thing I didn't like was the title. It's too boring for this fantastic book. This is so much more than a business trip gone awry. It's a corkscrew of plot with clues sprinkled throughout the novel. The ending is extremely satisfying. I would recommend this book to true crime lovers and mystery lovers.

Tension filled story of a girl sent back in time to save her family. At the start of the 2020 Covid shutdown, Tori's parents are divorcing. Tori and her mother are leaving New York. Tori is angry at her parents and at the virus gripping the world.
She doesn't want this to be her life. Suddenly she is thrust back to1980. A crazy time before cell phones and the internet.
She has to save her family in order to save herself. To do that, she needs to stop a jewel heist at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Tension builds as she learns she only has a weekend to accomplish this. As the book reached its climax, I couldn't put it down. How was Tori going to escape the clutches of the bad guys and 1980?
Would she return to 2020? How would her life be different if she changes the past?
I recommend this book to Sci Fi lovers, reader's who like adventure and tension and to anyone who enjoyed movies like Back to the Future. This was a fun read and I enjoyed Tori's reactions to 1980 life.

Wonderful addition to the series.
I hadn't read one of the Penny series yet but the thoughtful author note at the beginning explained everything I needed to know. (And now I want to read all of them.)
When Penny's raven omen appears at a pizza party at a gamer's convention, she has a difficult time narrowing down the possible targets or bad guys.
Penny, Jade, Titus and Scrubbs each play a part in solving the mystery. There is a sweet side plot of Titus and Penny navigating their obvious feelings for each other. Penny doesn't understand Titus's faith and he doesn't push it on her. This is something I really appreciate about this author. She doesn't force her faith down your throat. Similar to Titus with Penny, she lets readers draw their own conclusions and have their own perspectives.
There is a major development in the search for Penny's sister, but I won't spoil anyone.
I highly recommend this to Sarah HuaIde readers and anyone who enjoys a good, clean, cozy mystery.

In Only One Survives by Hannah Mary McKinnon readers go through a wild ride. For a few chapters I forgot I was reading a murder mystery because I was so focused on the success of this girl group. Then a car crash brings tragedy and everything unravels. I didn’t know who to trust or who to believe. I enjoyed the book and couldn’t wait to see how the villain would get away with it. However I think it would have been even better if the big reveal hadn’t been made until the very end.

I love horror stories. The Scream franchise gives me joy. So, if you’re like me, you will devour this book. It is a well-crafted story with characters who have clear motives. It is the perfect summer read if you like slasher movies. It got so intense at times that I had to put the book down. (Similar to covering my eyes during a scary movie.) I’m off to read everything else this author has published! T

Pursuit is a good old fashioned slasher-horror story. Rider aka Caleb is a Ghost Rider/Jason Vorhees antagonist that will not quit killing until he kills Ava. Poor newly married Ava doesn't know why or how she incurred his wrath, only that the Pursuit will not end until she dies.
This is a thrilling, gory story. Shudder should make it into a movie. The pace is breathtaking and the depictions of violence are very graphic. At times the writing is a little amateurish but it doesn't hinder the enjoyment of the story. James Kaine’s talent is quite evident and I'm sure his skill as a storyteller will continue to grow with each work.
I recommend this book for fans of Halloween or Friday the 13th. It's gory good fun and perfect for spooky season.
Do not read alone at night, in a wooded area or by a Harley dealership. You'll thank me for that advice.

The Husbands defies genre. It's part romcom part scifi part character study. Lauren comes home to find a stranger in her house, but the stranger claims to be her husband. Lauren doesn't even remember dating the guy, let alone marrying him. Soon Lauren discovers her attic replaces any husband that enters it. This doorway into other dimensions allows Lauren to see what her life would be like if she stuck with that awful boyfriend or married that rich older man. She continues trading and checking in with her family, friends and job, to see how the world around her has changed. Eventually, she has to make a choice, doesn't she? Can she keep this up forever? Her desperate actions at the end kept me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was nearly impossible to put down.

Imagine a book that could transport you to any place and time, past, present, or future. What if there was a book that could heal your physical and emotional wounds? How much would you pay for such books? What would you sacrifice to obtain them? These are the questions that Gareth Brown explores in his novel, The Book of Doors. Brown crafts a tale of adventure and high stakes that keeps the reader hooked. He fills his story with intrigue, mystery, danger, friendship and magic. The characters are charming and unique and I wanted them to succeed. He reveals the origin and nature of the books in a way that is consistent and plausible within his fictional universe. If you enjoy adventures like Inkheart and The Librarians, you will love this story

Expertly written tale. Two girls go missing on the same night. One escapes after two weeks the other is forgotten as attention wanes with time.
A young pathology student breaks open the case of the missing girls and with the help of the girl that is found, pieces together what happened that night. This is a twisty tale told from the P.O.V. of several of the characters. Many red herrings are presented and I fell for all of them.
Everything is answered in an ending I never saw coming. Highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a strong female protagonist, or a true crime feel novel, or enjoys a good mystery.

It's impossible not to fall for these two guys. I wanted them to work out from the very first chapter. This novel skillfully navigates the enemies-to-lovers trope. The characters, Dylan and Derek, are captivating, and the author handles Dylan’s ADHD with sensitivity. While some clichés appear, they serve to advance the plot. The intimate scenes are passionate, but the evolving relationship between the protagonists remains the highlight. Overall, it’s an engaging read that kept me hooked.

4.5/5 stars
This book is part mystery, part rock-n-roll 90's grunge scene, and part love story. The story takes place in 1999 with flashbacks to the early 90's. It brought back memories of the times before cell phones and instant internet connections. In 1999, Hen is a lonely German girl that dreams of being a musician. She adores The Lightning Bottles and even has a secret piece of memorabilia. In 1989, Janet is a lonely Canadian girl that dreamt of rock n roll fame but runs an internet bulletin board about music. Janet becomes Jane Pyre and falls in love with Elijah from Seattle, because of course if you're going to write about the 90's music scene it has to be Seattle. But the book is not cliche. It takes the reader through the different timelines clearly and with purpose to each move. It's a heartbreaking story that I couldn't put down. I wanted to read about Jane and Elijah's success as The Lightning Bottles as much as I wanted to read about the mystery Hen and Jane try to solve about Elijah's disappearance

Emily Hernandez used to be a hacker. The NSA hired her to find and stop a bad botnet she had created as a criminal. But when someone tried to kill her, she went ran away to Hong Kong. Her goal was to confront the boss of her old company and stop the botnet for good. But the more she investigated, the deeper she finds herself in the world of organized crime and secret agencies. She can trust no one. The author does an excellent job of making the reader feel as confused as Emily. We don’t know who to trust and who are the bad guys.
This book was a fast-paced, action-packed thriller. It was full of secret agents, crime bosses, intrigue, explosions, hit men and secret bunkers. Emily was a reluctant hero who tried to distance herself from her family. Her parents were domestic terrorists and her extended family was part of the Chinese Triad. She wanted to become a respectable civilian with a boyfriend and a job, but the more she tried to escape, the more trouble she found. 4.5/5

Here. Have kudos on that fanfic you wrote in your head while you were in the shower and never typed it out. When I recover from the brilliance of it, I’ll come back to leave a review.

Strait over Tackle by Colin Conway
4 out of 5 stars.
In this thrilling mystery novel, Sam Strait is a laid-back former sheriff’s deputy who loves the sun. He spends his summer in the house he grew up in, the same house his father grew up in, on a lake in Washington. He lives his life by a set of rules. One of which is don’t eat where you can’t wear flip flops. Another is no drama. He breaks one of those rules this summer.
Trouble finds him when he returns from his winter getaway and discovers a dead girl on his boat. Against his better judgment, he gets drawn into the investigation of the young woman’s death, putting himself in harm’s way as he crosses paths with her dangerous associates. The author crafts a suspenseful plot that keeps the reader guessing until the end, with twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The only flaw in this otherwise enjoyable book is the character of Sam’s girlfriend, who seems too dramatic and clingy for someone as relaxed and independent as Sam. This is a minor issue, however, and does not detract from the overall quality of this fun summer read.

Famous by Riano McFarland is an engaging novel that explores the theme of fame and identity. The protagonist, Alex, embarks on a quest to achieve fame after his father’s death. He quits his job and drives his father’s prized Impala from Albuquerque to California, hoping to find his destiny. Along the way, he encounters people who recognize his father and his father’s legendary black Impala. They reveal to him the hidden aspects of his father’s life as a race car mechanic, known as Fast Bill. Alex learns about his father’s skills, achievements, and relationships in the racing world, where he was respected and admired by many famous drivers.
Through pursuing his father’s passion for racing, Alex uncovers the astonishing family secret his father had guarded since the 70’s. He connects with relatives and inherits a wealth of history he was unaware of.
The book even includes a meet-cute love story. Alex finds his true love after an illegal road race. In turn, he helps her become famous. This novel combines an intriguing plot, a compelling character arc, and a fascinating glimpse into the technology and culture of racing. However, the novel suffers from some flaws in the writing style and structure. The narration is inconsistent, which disrupts the flow of the story. The novel also lacks a satisfying conclusion, as it abruptly transitions to an epilogue in the final chapter. Despite these shortcomings, Famous by Riano McFarland is a novel that will appeal to readers who enjoy cars or racing, or who are interested in the concept of fame and its consequences. The novel is a fast-paced and entertaining read that offers a unique perspective on family relationships and a personal journey of discovery. 3.5/5

Party Crasher is another fun book read by Sophie Kinsella.  I couldn’t put it down as I followed the hilarious misadventures of Effie. She’s lost her job and is temping; she has no love life to speak of and her father’s girlfriend has convinced him to sell the family estate. Effie and her siblings have to pack up their childhood memories and make way for a lavish ‘house cooling’ party. Effie is so furious that she decides to skip the party, but then she remembers she left something precious in the house, so she crashes the party. She sees things she shouldn’t, she hears things she shouldn’t and she learns things she should have a long time ago. This book is heartwarming and hilarious. This book is a delight from start to finish. Effie is a flawed but lovable heroine who grows and changes throughout the story. I loved this book and I think you will too. It’s a perfect read for when you need a good laugh.
