🌸 May TBR!! 🌸
In May I really want to get through some of my romance/not fantasy books, especially after reading a longish fantasy series, I miss my cutesy romance!!!
What if I never get over you, Paige Toon - I've already started this, so will defiantly finish it in May!!
Great Big Beautiful Life, Emily Henry - I love Emily Henry and am so excited to read this but I am really not in the mood for a hardback atm so will probably read this towards the end of the month.
The Friend Zone, Abby Jimenez - I've been wanting to start reading some Abby Jimenez books as I've heard such good things and I found this one for £3.50?!?! so will be reading it!!
Story of my life, Lucy Score - I’ve never read a Lucy Score book but have always wanted to get into her writing and I bought the beautiful works edition so I am very excited to start this one!!
We were liars, E. Lockhart - I want to read this before the series comes out as it has been on my tbr for years!! And Joseph Zada is in it and I want to see him in something before sotr!!
(re-read) Caraval, Stephanie Garber - I want to read the whole series in order as I've read caraval, ouabh and tbona but none of the other books so I think I'm just going to read them all again to get the full affect!! I'll probably read most of it through June but if I get the chance I might start it this month.
Our Infinite Fates, Laura Steven - I picked this book up a few weeks ago and have been dying to read it so I hope I get round to it this month!!
7 books is quite optimistic in a month so some of these may role over into June but these are more just want I want to read soon!!

Book Review: Fearless, Lauren Roberts
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
‼️Spoilers!!‼️
OMG............ This book is the craziest rollercoaster I have ever been on!!
This book felt so much more full than the rest of the series and I loved that there was a lot more focus on the plot, it actually felt like I was sent on a journey and that we ended up in a different place at the end. I think Reckless also did this well but the romance always seemed to take over as well as in Powerless.
I love that Paeydn and Kai's relationship was intertwined with the story and that they were no longer hiding how they felt for each other, I think this made it so much easier to take in everything else that was happening because we weren't overwhelmed with the 'will they, won't they' plot of the other books. Their characters seemed to progress so much more when they knew how they felt, Kai no longer felt like a monster because of his duty and role and focused more on his heart which was such a nice improvement as Kitt was on the throne. Paeydn's character also progressed so much with her grief and her hope for equality in Ilya drove her to feel impowered instead of 'powerless' which meant she had a lot more confidence in herself and her relationships with the other characters like Kai and Kitt.
THE ENDING!!!! So much happened in the last 150 pages that I felt so overwhelmed and confused at times. At first I thought this was a bad thing that I, as a reader, didn't understand what was happening until I realised that neither did the characters. So reading from their point of view I was never going to get the whole story all at once. Although I do wish the many parents and people being related and not related was fleshed out a little more, I know Kai was overcome with grief but I think there should have been a bit more of him thinking about his real father and realising that he was never related to the King...
Kitt's storyline and character might be my favourite (or least favourite depending on how I look at it) thing to come out of this book. His decent to insanity because he was so power hungry just to make his (dead) father proud worked with his character so well and I think his demise was inevitable because of the way he was raised and the way his brain was manipulated into an even worse version of his father. ALTHOUGH, Why did KAI have to kill him!!!!! That was so unnecessarily sad and I think Kitt should have died literally any other way just to save myself the emotional anguish!! But (if I must admit it) I think that was the best and most climatic way for him to die as it was so unexpected and was a great end to the series.
I really have no criticisms on this book, I think everything that happened wrapped up perfectly and I love that it answered questions form the other books that I didn't even have!!! I felt like everything happened for a reason and moulded the whole trilogy together perfectly.
MAK!!!! I almost forgot!! His return made me so happy just for him to die immediately!!! what the hell is that about?!?!?! That was almost as sad as Kitt, but him dying felt like the best end for his character as he was with Adena and Hera in the end and that's all he ever wanted. But his last words trying to be 'See you in the sky" nearly killed me!!
Overall, 5/5 would recommended to everyone I know, I am so sad to say goodbye to Kai and Paeydn, they will forever be one of my favourite book couples and the world I will miss so much but at least they lived happily in the end!!!

Book Review: Powerful, Lauren Roberts
⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
‼️Spoilers!!‼️
I loved this book!! I loved Adena as a character, she was so sunshine and kind, I really enjoyed her being a 'lover not a fighter' as it felt like a breath of fresh air to the stereotypical strong fmc. Mak was also so interesting, I loved his backstory and his wielder power having to be kept a secret because of Kai supposedly being the only one.
Their relationship was so cute!! I love that Adena's main goal was to try and make him smile and that they really opened up to each other. Them going to the Fort felt so romantic as that's like Adena safe place with Paeyden but she invited him there anyway.
The only reason this book wasn't 5 stars is because I felt like Hera's death was extremely brushed over and the whole Hera plot overall felt weird to me. Like when Mak was in the castle he went to see Adena for a few minutes and then just left?? I know he may have been caught but he defiantly could have made it to Hera if he really tried. And then when she died there was like one page of him crying and that was it??? I feel like that should have been a pivotal moment for his character and could have been so much deeper but it just wasn't. It just really disappointed me as I was so excited to hear more about Hera's character and her backstory but there wasn't much.
Anyway!!! Adena's death killed me all over again!!! I thought reading it from Paeyden's POV was bad enough but we had to read it from Adena and Mak's as well!! What kind of torture is that?!?!? It may be the saddest character death I've ever read.
Overall, this novella was so good and I really recommend!! Adena and Mak are the sweetest couple and they fit together so well, their scenes together filled the whole that was left by Paeyden and Kai attempting to be 'enemies' (they're in love).

Book Review: Powerless, Lauren Roberts
⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
‼️Spoilers!!‼️
This book is actually so good!! I loved the dynamic between Paeyden and Kai, they are actually THE book couple. Especially in the first trail when they started to open up to each other. THE DANCING!! Actually the cutest thing I've ever read.
Adena is the most sunshine character to ever live. Her death actually killed me, I saw spoilers that she was going to die on tiktok and still sobbed the whole way through. Powerful may reck me.
The other contestants are so interesting to me and I feel like a lot of their deaths are kind of skimmed over, especially Hera, I feel like we just got a sentence that she died and that was it. Same with Andy, even though she didn't die, Kai was carrying her as she was about to die from the snake poison and then suddenly he is pouncing on Ace to kill him. Where did she go??? Did he just drop her and start fighting??
I also feel like the friendship between Paeyden and Kitt is very skimmed over as well, we got a few scenes of them but I think there should have been more. Especially when they went into loot, it was like a page and then done and I feel like that should have been a very important moment for Paeyden and Kitt. I think the betrayal at the end when the Resistance comes into the bowl would have been more intense if we actually saw how much Kitt had bonded with Paeyden
Some parts feel rushed and not complete just so we could have more scenes with Paeyden and Kai, which I loved but I think the story would have been better if the plot was more fleshed out.
I feel like this review has been very negative!! I actually really loved the book and am very excited to keep reading the series!!!

Welcome to ReadwithKimmy!!
This account is just for me to document my reading and review all the books I've read.
I love to read dystopian books, especially long series!! My favourites are, The Hunger Games and Shatter Me.
I also love everything YA and romance, my favourite is defiantly Better Than The Movies. But I love anything Lynn Painter or Emily Henry.
I started reading when I was 12 years old and obsessed with the Harry Potter series, so I read all 7 books over the summer and just never stopped reading!
