Ouran high school was my favourite anime when I was like 14 which is really funny because thats also the age I basically was in a Haruhi fujioka situation. Not like fully literally but the meat of it was the same
I was the one single middle-class kid in a super high-end rich kid private academy with like pressed uniforms and building wings and everything. I didnt get any sort of scholarship, my dad just got a job as a teacher there and teachers kids got to enroll for free because the tuition was like 30 grand a year and you arent affording that on a teacher salary. So I understand her on a very visceral level and perhaps enjoyed OHSHC so much because she was SOOO me fr. These damn rich people

Will there ever be another action movie as good as this?
Tense, right up until the end.
A hero that we can all cheer for. Real stakes. No sugar-coating the horrors of the conflict.
Text! Subtext! Cool quotable lines!
Truly, 5/5 stars, the best action movie ever made, bar none.
ALIENS (1986) dir. Ridley Scott

I saw this posted on Lamebook and I'm not sure what they're making fun of here. This seems like an earnest plea for work that's actually totally reasonable. Someone who isn't young anymore, who isn't really cut out for physical labour and doesn't socialize much. They don't want anything fancy, and they're good at small-detail-oriented jobs. They're looking for a place to live, and again, nothing fancy needed. Something small and cheap.
What a world this is that these things can't be accommodated. They're just asking for help, and I find it really sad that this is possibly being mocked, but also that they have to ask like this. Nothing here is unreasonable to ask for, it's our system and our world that's become unreasonable.
I hope they find something.

I'm not going to say anything bad about the Cap-WS fight, but an important thing to me in this Daredevil fight is there are basically *no cuts*. At least not where the fighting is concerned. There are a couple times where you're left to fill in the blanks with your imagination, but mostly you're watching a not-actually-super-strong human fight a bunch of other guys, and he just guts it out.
There's no hiding in this fight scene. You can't cover sloppy choreography with a fast cut or confusing blurry motion.
It's something I like about the Cap-WS fight too—a lot of the action is slow enough that you understand what's going on. The choreography isn't meant to confuse or disorient you.
But this here is how people actually fight. If you watch a brawl, there's no fancy moves or flips, it's mostly haymakers and trading blows until someone falls down. I've always liked it for how real it feels.
goat fight. non-negotiable.

I have at least 3 good friends that are lawyers, and they're all wonderful people.
One of them worked as a public defender until he was so utterly burnt out. He just couldn't do it anymore, and he knew how important his job was.
One has done indigenous land-claim law in NZ. He helped families take their land back.
One is a labour lawyer. Not only does she help unions, but she also makes enough money that she carries cash around to give out to people on the street. She says that direct action is the best way that she can help others.
Some of the best, smartest people I know. Kind and deeply interested in helping people.
I really can’t stand anti-lawyer sentiment idgaf if your annoying uncle is a really smarmy personal injury lawyer or whatever the fuck it’s time to grow up and recognize that having an entire profession dedicated to understanding and upholding the law is actually extremely valuable to civilized society
