May is finally here!  🌹🌺🌸🌼🌷💐🌻
April was long, cold, rainy (even in the Caribbean) and I found contentious if you engaged with angry people.  I did my best to stay at bay and under the radar with only one mild disagreement.  By the last week of April, I wanted to spring to arrive and it did in the form of non-stop rain. In effect, I got what I asked for, lol.  
So May is here and I refuse to allow the dreary, rainy weather hold me back. Even my trainer tries to find positive, uplifting things to say and it makes me think there is so much to be grateful for! Grateful I don’t live in a flood zone, I have my health,  I fit my jeans comfy, the grass is really green!
Life is full of surprises and embrace them!!

The Finish Line Guy
The Finish Line Guy or F.L.G. is that guy who is there for you, when you had a rough day at the office or spent the day with an ill parent or just had an argument with your son.  
He is waiting at the finish line for you, whether it’s in your career or personal life. He is at the finish line to congratulate you, comfort you, commend you or simply love you. It’s with open arms, with huge grins, with somber love, who whispers in your ear he loves you and he holds you in his strong arms. 
The Finish Line Guy is the one who stands by you in good times and dark times.  He is guy who loves you for you, even more so, when you are not at your best!  
This is the guy you want in your life everyday until you die, he is the true embodiment of love.

Only at Funerals
Funerals are sad and solemn affairs as attendees bid farewell to the beloved. This week, I paid my respects to a family friend and a young man who left us too earlier. I recall the funeral in Bridget Jones’ Baby movie, as the heroine Bridget gives an impromptu eulogy of her friend and says “he touched many of us....”  It made me giggle, along with the mourners. 
Funerals are highly stressful and emotionally charged events and it’s no wonder laughter erupts as a joke lightens the mood people.  I think laughtre is part of grief.  
So there I was standing way, way, way in the back room of the parlor, were everybody was whispering because we were four rooms away from the service with little chance of being overheard.  The undertakers walked through the crowded foyer, this old man says to the gentleman to his left as they pass “Why is this guy looking at you?” The a low rumbling of laughter, including me, ensued breaking the solemn silence in this crowded room.  Of cours, the shh’s came out.  
At my mother-in-laws funeral, my ex’s cousin inadvertently outed his affair to me.  Though we were already separated it was still a shock, I grabbed my sister and went to the bathroom to calm down. 
There are stories of the grieving family discovery long lost secrets of the deceased at the funeral but nothing comes close to the beloved high school friend remembering loudly how the beloved jerked off in the locker room as his grandmother listened.

It’s a shit storm of honesty listening to Bréne Brown and I am grateful for discovering her on Sunday.  You see on Sunday, instead of vegging I went for a run and listened to her podcast randomly.  It’s the best coincidence in a while!!

Post Workout
Good Monday morning from the deep cold in the northeast.  I had an amazing class this morning and still feel invigorated from it.  Ask me a year ago to get a trainer and run regularly, uh NOPE!  Fast forward, here I am a sweaty mess with a big smile on! It’s the best way to make Mondays work.

In less than 20 days I will be on a beach in the middle of the ocean.  The decision came as fast as the invite. And who goes on a “singles beach trip?” 
Me!  
To feel great and look great, I started a new habit, a pre-workout drink to boost my metabolism and energy and today, I ran 6k!! Yep, 6k in 46 minutes at the gym.  I normally run between 3 to 5 km in 30 minutes with my trainor but on my own is quite different!!  I did it.  Small changes!

“Onward and Upward”
Finally home from a week of road trips.  Went with my sister to visit her daughter 10 hours away for a couple of days. I spent time with her three lovely girls, came home for a few days  and headed out New Years Day to my niece’s new farm two hours away.  
New Year’s eve was quiet this year,  stayed home with my youngest and taied my oldest to a party.  I actually stayed up until the ball dropped, rang in the new year with my son.  It was quiet, just the way I like it.  
As I drove and thought about 2017, two things came to mind continuing onward and always upward to achieving better in the new year.  No tacky resolutions, just continue what I’ve been doing the last year. 
And after, being on the road and missing two training classes, I was back in the gym yesterday, managing 5k.  My trainer is correct in saying don’t missed more than three days in a row, I missed 4 days and didn’t perform to my best.  
Today, I am home with my son who is still on school break and tomorrow heading out to the ski hill with both my guys.

New Me
I’ve been on my  own now for eight months with my children.  In the beginning, like anything else it took a while to get used to and I slowly made my way into July almost unpacked and realized it was time to join a gym, so I did later that day.  
It was the first time in years since I went to a gym and love it.  Except today, I came down with a cold and missed my class.  My goal originally was to have Michelle Obama arms and it’s getting there.  My next goal is to be a few pounds lighter when I leave on holiday in a couple of weeks.  And by May, I would like to run the bank 5k easily and run a 10k in the fall.  I now run 9 miles a week and hope to increase it this week to 12 miles. 
This is the new me, time to take care of myself!!

Real Happy
It’s been an exciting and excruciating year and so worth it.  I’m blogging from the comfort of my new home, that in itself is quite remarkable. This is my first home I can call my own and the freedom fills my heart with joy.  
Real Happy describes my new life and path as a newly minted single person.  I left my husband after being together for 25 years, even though the divorce is not final I have freedom.  Enough about that.  
In the past couple of months so much has changed mostly for the good because you know life is mostly ups with a few dips in there to keep us alive.  
In a few short weeks, I will be going on my first singles holiday with a friend who is also single.  My BFF told me she heard about these kinds of holidays and told me to be “prepared”and I laughed.  Meaning bring condoms!! Seriously, I thought what did I get myself into?  But I am ready to go have some fun!
