i dont consider myself a 'fashion guru' by any means but one thing i will say is guys you dont need to know the specific brand an item you like is - you need to know what the item is called. very rarely does a brand matter, but knowing that pair of pants is called 'cargo' vs 'boot cut' or the names of dress styles is going to help you find clothes you like WAAAYYYY faster than brand shopping

moved to a new town recently and they celebrate emancipation day on what seemed like a random day. looked this up bc i’ve lived nearby but never heard of this before and learned that different parts of the USA celebrate different emancipation days because of the emancipation proclamation’s (and other relevant federal and local laws’) spotty and disjointed enforcement

which leads to emancipation holidays separated on different days in regional divisions that seem arbitrary when looking at today’s maps and politics

very very cool to learn that we have a national holiday to celebrate our collective freedom but also local holidays where people calibrate their specific community’s freedom

I'll always talk up internet radio stations because I don't think the average person is aware that they're free, can run in your browser (or in any program that can connect to them), work on your phone, run better than a youtube tab, and give you a much better selection of music than you could get from a general algorithmic playlist

been saying this for years but I hate how ubiquitous "low fat" "no fat" "low calories" etc shit is in stores. I do not want your no fat 0 calorie yogurt, what a waste of money! give me full fat yogurt! extra fat! 1000 calories yogurt so I can meet my daily needs. stop taking the nutrients and shit out of food, that's literally half the point of food. why do so many food companies hate food.
