Whenever I watch The Lion Guard.

The Barbary Lion was an enormous subspecies of lion that roamed northern Africa up until the 1900s. Due to it’s size and dark mane, it was a popular hunting target for poachers and bounty hunters, who made it extinct in the wild. It existed in captivity up until the 1960s however, and was mostly used in circuses and lion-taming shows by the brave. It’s not hard to see why many people were too terrified of them, and they were subsequently wiped out completely as circus shows became less and less popular.
