Thinking about Shauna shipman. Specifically thinking about how a lot of people tend to water down her character as just being “insane” or a nut case. Or people having the audacity to hate her for how she turned out. You would be too if your plane fell from the sky. you would be too if the consequence of having a normal teenage fight with your best friend ended up with her freezing to death, cold and alone, and your last words to her were cruel. You would be too if the only way you could cope with her death is sitting in a small wooden shed talking to her frozen corpse for two months. Or how you were shamed in front of everyone for coping in that way and then having to watch her burn. You would be too if you ate her body because you are so fucking starved and depleted. You would be too if your baby was a still born, who never had a chance. You would be too if you had to be the one to cut up your friends bodies so the rest of the group can eat bc you are the only one who can stomach it. You would be too if your burning anger and frustration caused you to brutalize your teammate, to reduce her to nothing but a bloody pulp bc you are just that angry. And god knows what else happened to her, we still have yet to find that out in the coming seasons. She is not just “insane”. She’s an emotionally stunted girl/woman who had her life taken from her so violently. She’s suffered so much and I just can’t stand when people make her less or dilute her.
