chapter 6. - high hopes

notes: again, most of this is going to be written!

as you put your phone down, you stare at the clock. five minutes till seven.. you knew albedo, you knew he was usually five minutes early, sometimes even 10. he'd be here any second.. as you mentally prepare for his arrival, you hear your doorbell ring. you wait a second before going to open the door. you take a deep breath before pulling the door handle open.. one.. two.. you open the door, albedos there with a bouquet of flowers, but not just any flowers. he brought a bouquet of your favorite flowers, lily of the valley. your heart skips a beat as your cheeks turn a light pink, your face in obvious surprise. "S-sorry, is this too much?" albedo asks as he looks at you, curiously. you shake your head before answering him, a small chuckle escapes you mouth. "no no, this is.. really nice. thank you, bedo. come in! i made dinner!" you say as you step off to the side as he hands you the bouquet. you take them in your hands, giving them a small sniff, they smell just like him somehow.. you shake the thought away as you close the door. you lead albedo to the kitchen as you place the bouquet on the counter. as you pour out some wine into glasses, you notice albedo looking around your apartment, a small smirk appearing on your lips. "checking out the place?" you say casually as albedo flinches, being caught red handed. he looks back at you, "sorry, i just.. haven't been here in so long. it feels so.. different." you nod in acknowledgement, realizing albedo hasnt been to your apartment since before you and your ex had even gotten together. you finish pouring out some wine for the two of you, placing them next to the already prepped plates of food. "I hope you dont mind chicken, it was basically all the meat i had left haha.." you chuckle, sitting down as you signal for albedo to sit next to you. he gives you a small nod before pulling out the chair and sitting next to you. "i dont mind, in fact, im glad you would even take the time to make me a meal. thank you, truly, [name]." he smiles at you as he picks up his glass, taking a small sip. your cheeks flush as you smile at him, taking a small bite at your dish.

the rest of the dinner goes by in a flash, the two of you talking about anything but the topic roaming above your heads. you try your best not to bring it up, trying to wait for the perfect time to ask. as the two of you finish cleaning the plates, you sit down on the couch with another glass of wine, listening to music and talking like the two of you have been the whole night. theres a moment, for a glimpse, where you think maybe this is the time to bring it up.. you hesitate for a moment. before you know it, albedo turns to you, setting his glass down on the coffee table as he looks at you. "im.. sorry about last night, [name]. i wasnt thinking straight.. i know its a lot for you to take in and i dont ask for anything in response. i shouldnt have put you in such a vulnerable spot. im sorry, truly." you look at him, a little surprised. was he.. admitting it was a mistake? was all of this a mistake? before you could get more in your head about this, you decide to ask. "do you.. regret it?" albedo looks at you, trying to get a read on your current emotions. he sighs heavily, pinching the bridge of his nose before speaking. “ill never regret loving you, though i wish the time and place was different. I will never regret letting you into my heart. Never, [name].” you look at him, you heart beating out of your chest. before you knew it, tears rolled down your cheeks, albedo looks at you. a mixture of confusion, regret, and guilt. he goes to grab your shoulder, trying his best to comfort you the only way he knew. he holds you in a warm embrace as you speak in between sobs. "th..thank... you.."

before you can even hear his reply, suddenly your vision goes black. lying there in albedos arms.

chapter 5. - run

notes: AHHH A CONFESSION!! the confession scene always feels so rushed to me but i felt like i left it off at such a weird place i just HAD to start and finish this next chapter! anyways enjoy!

as you put your phone down, you sigh heavily. albedo… confessed. reality set in, you didn’t know what to do, honestly. a part of you.. liked him too.. really liked him. but a part of you was scared.. if you dated.. and broke up.. you would not only lose your partner but your best friend. but.. what if it all worked out? i mean, albedo was the sweetest, nicest, most understanding man you knew. you should have faith in him! in yourself! but you thought the same of your past relationship.. you shake your head, stupid ideas. you get up to pick something to read, and decide not to.. but one book catches your eye.. a cook book. it gives you an idea.. people always say a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.. why not try to make a meal for albedo to enjoy as you try to talk your feelings out! you pat yourself on the back, thinking you’re an absolute genius for this idea. as you flip through the cook book, you stumble upon a recipe you used to cook for your ex and suddenly you’re hit with a wave of nostalgia. you shake your head, trying not to think about him and all the memories.. and suddenly you’re reminded of all the memories between you and albedo. the way you two met, the way he saved you from falling off the monkey bars, the way kid him promised to help you save all the animals in the world.. the way he would play dolls with you to better understand how to play dolls with his little sister. it’s at that moment you realize.. you truly do love albedo. you always have, when you were with xiao, everything he did reminded you of albedo. the way he smiles, the way his eyes light up when he sees you.. the way he takes care of you when you’re sick, or when you used to come back from volleyball practice in middle school all scraped up. the way he would tenderly tend to your wounds as he’d scold you about being more careful. or the way he used to stand up for you when teachers in high school would pick on you for correcting them. everything albedo does, everything he did for you.. made your heart melt. the more you think about it, the more you realize you couldn’t, and wouldn’t, be able to live with yourself if he were to ever not be by your side. it was selfish, and you knew it. but you couldn’t even think of a day where he wouldn’t be by your side. you smile to yourself, the realization making you happy. you’re in love with albedo.

as you hum a happy tune, flipping through the cookbook, you hear a ding come from your phone. you look at your phone to realize it was a text from albedo! you open the text, ready to invite him over to your apartment for dinner..

extra notes: i honestly kinda lost motivation to write this specific chapter but next chapter is gonna be one of my favs! i can’t wait lol!

chapter 4. - daylight

notes: most of this chapter is going to be written! didn’t know how to convey the feelings i wanted to with just text or tweets lol :,)

the clock strikes midnight, it’s now been a week since your talk with diluc, since the photos went viral. your messages to albedo have been left unseen, you’ve secretly started to wonder if he was avoiding you. you’ve been asking venti and diluc numerous times about albedo, trying to see if he was okay but even with that, albedo refuses to see you…

ALBEDOS POV

i’ve researched for a week.. still no answers. why.. why does [name] stay on my mind even when i don’t want her to be? numerous threads of people professing their love to their best friends and being rejected… numerous friendships being ruined over one persons feelings.. i can’t let that happen.. i won’t let that happen.. maybe if i just hide my feelings for [name] they’ll never find out.. but i can’t keep hiding from them. how silly.. i agreed to be her fake boyfriend but now i can’t even face her.. ive spent all these years focusing on my work and now i can’t even bother looking at my textbooks.. how pathetic. i wouldn’t blame [name] for falling in love with someone like diluc.. but why do i still feel this way..

as i sit in my chair, blinking the sleepy out of my eyes i hear a ding come from my phone.. more texts from [name]? i pick up my phone to see it’s a text from diluc.. i roll my eyes as i text back

as i sit outside of albedo’s door, i contemplate if me coming here was a good decision.. venti and diluc persuaded me to come here, to try and get albedo to talk to me… but maybe this was a bad idea.. as i was getting ready to turn back around and leave, albedo suddenly opens his door. he seems surprised to see me, a slight gasp escaping my mouth, he has baggy eyes and looks like he hasn’t slept in weeks.. i knew he took his studies seriously but this was too far.. my instincts kick in and i immediately rush to check his forehead, no fever. i sigh in relief as i smile, seeing a small hint of pink on albedos cheeks. “i didn’t.. think you’d actually be here.. so soon..” he clears his throat as he sighs lightly “you should.. come in..” he says as he steps to the side, letting you in his room. you give him a small nod as you enter his room and it only hits you then that you haven’t been in his room since last year.. it’s changed so much since you’ve last been in there.. “you can.. have a seat on my bed.. sorry it’s a bit of a mess in here..” he shyly says as he sits on his chair, looking at you. the lights are off, his curtains covering his window, the only light coming from his room is a small lamp on his desk, pointed towards his lap.. before you can even think, you blurt out “why are you ignoring me?” he looks at you, shocked. he didn’t expect you to sound so.. upset.. “I..I’m not..” he says, avoiding eye contact. “yes, you are. why. what did i do? is it because of diluc?” you stare at him, not letting your eyes off of him. “i… it’s not…” he scratches his head, a nervous tick of his.. “i’m not trying to.. ignore you.. i just.. needed time to process everything, im sorry..” he looks at you, really looks at you, his eyes sincere. “i didn’t know what to do, honestly. it’s not about diluc, or you even.. it’s about me.. i can’t wrap my head around it, [name] but..” he takes a deep breath before continuing. “you’re all i can think about.. it’s… annoying. why can’t i stop thinking about it,, about you and diluc.. what if it was me you were with.. why couldn’t it have been me with you.. why did it have to be diluc.. do you.. not look at me the way you may look at diluc? all these questions yet no amount of research will give me the answers. all i can ask is why..” he looks.. exhausted. he didn’t even realize he had practically just confessed to you. how could he not have realized it. or maybe you were just overthinking it? “albedo.. do you.. realize what you just said?” you look at him, needing him to realize what he said. “yes. i like you, [name]. i think i always have. and it’s driving me insane. xiao was one thing.. and then diluc.. you’re driving me absolutely nuts, [name]. why won’t you look at me the way you’ve looked at them? what’s so special about them?” your heart skips a beat as you hear him speak.. it makes you feel bad but… you feel so happy? your cheeks flush red.. was this.. no.. surely not. you shake your head, trying not to hear the pounding in your chest. “there’s.. there’s nothing special about them… you’re more special to me than any of them.”

chapter 3. tick tock

notes: this one was really fun to do lol! i love drama :)

as you arrive at the place Diluc wanted to meet you, your heart beats rapidly. what did Diluc want to talk to you about? your heart couldn't take it, you felt exhausted before even getting there. as you round the corner, you see diluc standing there already waiting for you. as he notices you, he smiles brightly with a small wave. you smile back at him, "hi, diluc. sorry im running a little late!" you say nervously. he chuckles before speaking, "no worries, [name]. would you like to get some coffee?" he says, pointing at the coffee shop behind him. "my treat." you nod your head, following him inside the coffee shop. the two of you head inside and order, as you follow diluc back out the door as he takes a sip of his coffee, "ah nothing better than a espresso.." he starts walking down the street as you follow closely behind him, wondering if hes going to tell you why he invited you out so late. as youre about to ask, he speaks first. "[Name], do you know Jean by any chance?" he asks, his cheeks turning a light pink. you look at him, confused. "you mean the student council president? i.. dont know her that well but i do know her.." you look at him curiously. "well," diluc starts, "i was wondering if you.. knew about her relationship status?" you smirk to yourself, seeing you childhood nemesis falling in love. "ooo diluc has a crushhhh~" you teased him as he pushed you playfully. "cut it out, [name]! dont tease me!" he smiles, chuckling a little.. "but yeah.. i do. i... really like her. and i wanted to make a good impression on her.." you chuckle, ruffling dilucs hair like you used to when kaeya would make him cry as a kid. "diluc, youre a great guy, if she cant see that then she doesnt deserve someone like you. just be yourself, youve got this! youre a lady killer already" you say as you both laugh. "as if! thats only at the tavern and we both know that" diluc retorts as you both continue laughing.

diluc thanks you for your time as you both split off, on youre way back home you realize youre phone has been blown up with notifications, some on twitter as well as your grouchat. you shrug it off, not thinking much of it and go home to shower and get ready for bed. as you get out of the shower, you hear your phone ding again, this time you decide to sit down on your bed and finally go through all these notifications only to be horrified.

extra notes: couple mistakes in the last twitter post pls ignore them! also please ignore that the diluc on the picture doesn’t have long hair or red hair, i tried my hardest to find something more accurate but i couldn’t :( pls forgive me!!

you hear a knock on you door, you check the peephole to see xiao standing right outside with flowers. you open up the door, “surpise!” xiao says, handing the flowers to you. “I know they aren’t your favorite, but thy were the closest I could find this late at night.. haha..” he scratches the back of his head, seeming a little shy or embarrassed. you take the flowers, smiling warmly. “thank you, xiao. theyre beautiful. come on in!” you move to the side of the door frame as he nods, entering your home and taking off his shoes as you motion for him to sit on the couch. you close the door, smiling to yourself before looking back at xiao. “sorry dont mind the mess! im still trying my best to place all my stuff. its truly a process, haha..” xiao smiles at you warmly, and its as though the world stops for a minute. “Y/n, I’ve thought about it a lot..” he says as he motions for you to sit next to him. you set the flowers down on the kitchen counter, not worrying about putting them in a vase for now. you sit next to him as you listen to him as he smiles warmly at you. “I.. didn’t want to do all this over text, I wanted to do this in person..” he takes in a deep breath before continuing. “i like you. and i have.. for a while now. i knew it from the second we met, i knew that being your friend would lead to this.. and i was ready for it. i knew full well from that day that we met that you, you were worth it..” he takes your hand in his. “i dont expect a response, or for you to share my feelings. i just had to tell you, y/n. i fear that if i were to continue to have the relationship we had without at the very least telling you how i felt… well to put it lightly, it would be torture..” as xiao finishes speaking, a small smile raises on his face. “i really enjoyed today, and even the other day when we all hung out as a group. i loved it. regardless of your feelings for me, i want to be friends. i want us all to hang out, and i want you to feel comfortable and safe around us all, but it would eat me inside if i never told you.. never at least tried to see where your feelings for me-“ as he was about to finish talking, you suddenly hug him tightly, his breath slightly catching before he melts into your hug. “i like you too, xiao. i have, and always will, like you.. some may even say my feelings for you have transcended to the scale of ‘love’.. thank you.. for telling me. i didn’t think i’d be able to do it alone, i was terrified of losing the relationship we had.. i love flirting with you, even when it was just us teasing eachother.. i loved playing games with you late at night.. i loved everything. being with you has truly made my life better.. and i don’t want that to ever stop or end..” he smiles at your words, pulling away from the hug. “will you do me the honor of allowing me to be your boyfriend, y/n?” he says, smile beaming like the ray of sunshine through curtains on a warm summer day. he’s adorable, how could you say no to him? “i would love to let you be my boyfriend, xiao.” you two crack a smile before laughing, embracing one another again.

you two spend the rest of the night watching a show before you fall asleep next to xiao on the couch. he realizes youve fallen asleep, he smiles to himself before lifting you into his arms and taking you to bed, tucking you in before he sees your phone light up with messages from your friends. he smiles as he replies back for you (in this au you dont have a pin/password) sending a photo of you sleeping next to him, as he puts your phone to charge and retrieves to the living room to sleep on your couch, not wanting to leave you just yet.

as xiao starts to walk towards the door, he spots you in the corner tucked away in the back.. “no way that’s viv.. right?” he thinks to himself.. “holy shit, holy shit, holy shit!” he quickly passes and hides in the side alleyway to text his friends.

xiao takes a deep breath before going back to the front entrance, opening the door and walking towards you. alatus hadn’t texted you saying he was nearby, and for a second you though he had ghosted you. you don’t notice xiao until he’s in front of you, his voice echoing around you.

“a-are you viv, y/n?” he secretly cursed himself for stuttering, but he couldn’t help it! he was so nervous, so anxious..

“alatus?” you ask, finally looking up at him. your heart starts to pound, he’s.. xiao? the guy from the library, and the guy who was in ganyu’s friend group? what in the world was going on?

“that’s me. it’s.. nice to finally meet you, y/n” he says with a soft smile. before you could say anything back, he pulls out a little box, almost like a little ring box. what is going on..

“is.. this for me?” you ask, trying to be as crystal clear as possible to not make an absolute embarrassment to yourself.

“open it..” xiao says, sitting across from you.

you open it and realize.. it’s a ring you showed him months ago, saying you wanted it.. he remembered it after all those months.. “i.. i cant take this alatus! this must’ve been expensive! why would you..”

“i told you, id do anything for you, y/n.” he smirks at you, putting the rind on you. “it’s a perfect fit. do you like it?” he holds your hand for a bit, smiling at the sight softly

“i love it..” you say softly as you look at it. “should we get coffee?” you say, breaking the tender atmosphere, xiao looks a little disappointed?

“yeah, my treat” he says, getting up and grabbing your hand, making you follow his lead.

you two order drinks and head near a park, you get a little hot and xiao asks if you want him to hold your jacket. you chuckle, “only if i can take a picture of you holding it!” you tease him, but he fully complies. you send the photos to your friends

Hello! I love your Childe depressive episode post<3 it's well written and I hope you're back to writing more! Please, in the future don't use misspellings in posts. "Depress!ve" gets around blocked tags and it's polite to write words properly so people can keep words blocked. Tumblr works weird so any word in a post kind of works like a tag (at least for searches)
