I hadn’t thought about small talk this way before! I’ve always said that I “hate” small talk, but thinking about social situations, I really don’t mind small talk and often find one or two people at parties/social gatherings who share similar interests that I end up having really great conversations with. I don’t hate small talk—the negative feeling I associate with small talk is me feeling self-conscious because I have a hard time knowing how much is too much information and end up feeling like the other person is checking out of the conversation before it’s reached a natural conclusion. BUT I’m getting better at that (and have friends who are friends with kind people who do actually listen even when I’ve accidentally gone off on a tangent when trying to tell a story), so instead of “hating” small talk, maybe I can start focusing on getting better at it.
I feel like in the rush of “throw out etiquette who cares what fork you use or who gets introduced first” we actually lost a lot of social scripts that the younger generations are floundering without.

tumblr is such a different animal than other social media platforms for so many reasons obviously but one thing i really find funny about it is how on other sites if i see something that doesn't interest me i don't follow or don't like the post. but on here if someone i follow starts posting exclusively about something really niche that i have no interest in my reaction is never to unfollow. its just part of the natural environment. like oh mutual is now really into pro wrestling? ok i guess ill be seeing these guys around now

Even as a zelink shipper whenever people refer to Link and Zelda as soulmates it makes me laugh, cause yeah you're not wrong they totally are but Ganondorf is also technically their soulmate in that regard? The poly shippers have gotten around that issue but for everyone else he's literally born to third wheel. No wonder he's pissed, not only does he never get to realize his ambitions he's gotta watch that awkward teenage romance over and over for eternity. It's like he keeps scrolling past his NOTP and the block button isn't working. Bottling the princess just pisses off the other one, and the other one has the invincibility of a Nokia cell phone. What's a born hater to do

It’s wild to me to see transvestigator conspiracy theories online that could be so easily explained by natural human variation. That woman has a deep voice? Yeah, sometimes they do. A woman has broad shoulders?? Maybe she plays rugby or hits the gym a fuckton. There’s a “bulge” in her tight pants?? Maybe her vulva is just fat. All the “markers” of trans woman that transvestigators use to harass any woman aren’t even things unique to trans women.
